The franchise reboot Jeepers Creepers: Reborn was given a three-day theatrical release back in September and a VOD release earlier this month (you can watch it on Amazon at This Link). Next up is a physical media release, with the movie set to reach Blu-ray and DVD on November 15th. Seems to me three weeks earlier would have been a better release date, so people could watch it in time for Halloween. But that’s what the VOD version is for, I suppose. Copies of the discs can be pre-ordered Here.
Jeepers Creepers: Reborn was directed by Timo Vuorensola from a screenplay by Sean Michael Argo and Jake Seal. It has the following synopsis:
Chase and Laine head to the HorrorHound festival where Laine begins to experience unexplained premonitions and disturbing visions associated with The Creeper and the town’s past. As the festival gets underway and the blood-soaked entertainment builds to a frenzy,...

Samuel Goldwyn Films has picked up the North American distribution rights to Back Roads, the first feature directorial outing from Elvis & Nixon actor Alex Pettyfer. Pettyfer also stars in the pic, which will be released late this year.

Alex Pettyfer has a conspiratorial glint in his eye. He wants to conduct our interview in the empty screening room of the Crosby Hotel instead of its basement bar.
“It’ll be cool,” he promises, without a trace of anxiety about the fact that the theater looks very much closed to the public.
Pettyfer, outfitted in a baseball cap and a tight-fitting t-shirt that reveals an elaborate series of arm tattoos, is in New York to show “Back Roads,” a moody drama that marks his directorial debut, at the Tribeca Film Festival. He produced the film, as well as stars in it as Harley, a young man struggling to hold his impoverished family together after his mother (Juliette Lewis) is jailed for killing his father.
“The most humble experience I’ve ever had was making ‘Back Roads,’ because I realized as an actor you’re on a solo journey,” said Pettyfer.

Long dreaming of stepping behind the camera, actor Alex Pettyfer made his directorial debut recently with the Tribeca-premiering Back Roads, in which he also stars.
Based on a novel by Tawni O’Dell, Back Roads centers on Harley (Pettyfer), a young man living in backwoods Pennsylvania, who is forced to become the caretaker for his three sisters after his father is murdered and his mother (Juliette Lewis) is sent to prison.
Reading the script for the project years ago—when he was 18 years old—Pettyfer never consciously set out to make Back Roads his first directorial outing, only coming back to the project years later when he realized that it had never been made. “I approached Michael Ohoven, one of the producers, about ten years later, and it was just my pure love for the story and wanting to see it get made,” Pettyfer told Deadline yesterday, explaining his ultimate...

Leave it to Brandi Glanville to bring the fireworks on Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills."
In the trailer for the upcoming fourth season of the popular reality series, the feisty former Mrs. Eddie Cibrian not only goes au natural in a jacuzzi and shares a tender smooch with new cast member Carlton Gebbia, but it seems her once rock-solid friendship with Lisa Vanderpump is showing some fractures.
One key moment in the first sneak peek, titled "No Smoke Without Fire," finds Glanville and Vanderpump at what appears to be the tail end of a contentious discussion, with Glanville asserting, "I know you're the chess player of all time, but I just f***ing checkmated you, b****." Checkmate, indeed.
Along with Glanville and Vanderpump, Yolanda H. Foster, Kyle Ricahrds and Kim Richards are returning for Season 4. (Adios, Adrienne Maloof and Taylor Armstrong!) Joining the series are the aforementioned Gebbia...

The second week of CBS’ Under The Dome (2.8/8) saw a few cracks in the new drama’s strong ratings shell. Following its big debut last week, the Amblin TV/DreamWorks TV-produced show was down 15% on Monday — not altogether unrespectable retention levels for the series based on Stephen King’s 2009 novel. Under The Dome was easily the top-rated show of the night and by far the most watched with 11.52 million viewers. Otherwise, CBS was all repeats Monday. Like on most almost-holiday summer nights, usage was down 5% among adults 18-49 and dipped 4% from last week. CBS was tops for the night in adults 18-49 and in viewers with 7.08 million. Related: ‘Under The Dome’ Gets DVR Lift In Live + 3 This week, NBC debuted a new drama of its own Monday with Siberia (1.1/3) at 10 Pm. The reality series, from Sierra/Engine Television and producer Michael Ohoven of Infinity Media, received a cold ratings reception.

Matthew Arnold, creator-showrunner of NBC‘s upcoming summer drama series Siberia, has signed with ICM Partners. He didn’t have an agent. Siberia, which premieres July 1, is about a group of contestants who think they are competing in a reality show until the things go horribly wrong and they are left abandoned by the crew in a mysterious, supernatural wilderness. Arnold conceived of the series and wrote the bible before teaming with Michael Ohoven of Infinity Films to finance the first season independently. Ohoven and Sierra/Engine, which came in as a distributor, took the series to Mipcom in April and then sold it to NBC. Arnold wrote and directed the pilot and the season finale. He also co-wrote three additional episodes and directed a total of 7 episodes of the 13-epispde first season. Emma Roberts has landed the lead role in coming-of-age drama 'Adult World'. The 'Scream 4' star beat off strong competition from contemporaries Carey Mulligan, Rooney Mara, Emily Browning, Juno Temple and Brie Larson to take the main part of a Stanford University graduate with aspirations of becoming a poet who ends up working in a bookstore. Scott Coffey will direct the movie from a script by Andrew Cochran. Michael Ohoven and Kevin Turrin are set to produce. 'The Hangover' star Zach Galifianakis and 'Red Riding Hood' actor Shiloh Fernandez have reportedly been approached for the two...

Young Hollywood loves indie films, and this time the beneficiary is Adult World, the coming-of-age drama being produced by Michael Ohoven at Infinity Entertainment (Capote, Saved) and Kevin Turen (Arbitrage) from a script by Andrew Cochran. Meeting for the female main character with director Scott Coffey (whose Ellie Parker was in the main competition at Sundance) were hot talent like Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan, Rooney Mara, Emily Browning, Juno Temple and Brie Larson. But Emma Roberts snagged the part. Turns out Coffey wrote a female-driven script for Fox Searchlight that had Emma's aunt Julia Roberts attached once upon a time. (Emma is Eric's daughter.) What a small world Hollywood is, eh? Anyway, Adult World now has offers out to Zach Galifianakis and Shiloh Fernandez for great male roles, too. It's a funny satire about an over-validated generation of American kids who think they're all special and have a right to...

Drake is close to star opposite high-profile actors in "Arbitrage". He is reportedly in talks to join Al Pacino, Eva Green and Susan Sarandon as the cast member of the indie movie, which is written and will be directed by Nicholas Jarecki. TheWrap, however, does not mention his role.
The film centers its story on "a hedge fund magnate who is in over his head and desperate to complete the sale of his shady trading empire to a major bank before his fraud is revealed. However, an unexpected, bloody error forces him to turn to the most unlikely corner for help in protecting him from rivals who want to bring him down."
Sarandon and Green will play the character's wife and art dealer mistress respectively. The financial thriller is scheduled to kick off principal photography this March in New York with Johnny Lin, Michael Ohoven, Kevin Turen and Robert Salerno producing.

There's something about movies concerning talk show hosts we dig. From Talk Radio to even Pump up the Volume, there's just something about them. Especially when they're horror themed like Pontypool, etc. Well, there's another one coming our way so the question beckons ... will you answer the call?
According to Variety Alison Eastwood (pictured right) and Dallas Roberts will star in The Door, which will be produced by Capote producer Michael Ohoven.
The film, inspired by true events (of course), concerns a radio talk show host (Roberts) who's drawn to exploring paranormal activity by a caller and an unexplained death. Eastwood will play a Cdc investigator. They join a cast that includes Mariah Bonner, Bryan Massey and Tony Schiena.
Matthew Arnold helms from his own script, and production is under way in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Look for more soon!

Al Pacino wants your money! Okay, he doesn’t really. But he might be wandering around big financial corporations doing a little research for his next project, as he’s just decided that he’ll next star in dodgy-dealing thriller Arbitrage. The film will find Pacino as a hedge fund mogul who starts to realise that his financial finagling is getting him into some serious trouble. To make matters worse, he’s trying to negotiate a deal to sell his trading empire to a big international bank, and needs to get the company flogged off before anyone discovers the massive fraud he’s been perpetrating. But then he makes an unexpected – and violent – mistake, leading him to turn to someone unlikely for help.Eva Green and Susan Sarandon are also in the film, which writer/director Nicholas Jarecki (who last made The Informers) is aiming to shoot early next year in New York.

- For those who have wondered how playwright Tennessee Williams conceived impressionable, tragic female figures that were the make up for in A Streetcar Named Desire in and The Glass Menagerie, might want to keep tabs on what Taylor Hackford has in store for his next project. Variety reports that the director of the upcoming relationship drama about a couple who opened the first legal brothel in Nevada (Love Ranch) will direct Tenn, based on the script by Robin Shushan (The Contortionist's Handbook). Michael Ohoven is financing development and will produce with Dan Halsted. Pic focuses on how Williams' tumultuous upbringing -- complete with a scornful father, depression, conflicts about sexuality and watching his beloved sister institutionalized and lobotomized -- fueled the conflict in such plays as "The Glass Menagerie" and the Pulitzer Prize-winning "A Streetcar Named Desire." One reason extra to anticipate this project - Ohoven claims that it

Taylor Hackford will direct “Tenn,” a drama about the life of playwright Tennessee Williams, according to Variety.
The biopic focuses on how Williams’ relationships with his close family members pushed him to write famous plays such as “A Streetcar Named Desire” and “The Glass Menagerie.”
Hackford will be directing a script by Robin Shushan, who recently wrote a screenplay based on the J. Paul Getty kidnapping for Peter Berg.
The project’s producer Michael Ohoven said the film will bear some similarities to “Capote,” in which author Truman Capote developed a special relationship with one of two murderers.
Hackford last directed the Ray Charles biopic “Ray.” He recently wrapped filming for “Love Ranch,” a drama starring his wife Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci.

Hollywood director Taylor Hackford is taking the life of legendary playwright Tennessee Williams to the big screen.
Dame Helen Mirren's film maker husband will direct Tenn, which will detail Williams' difficult upbringing and the depression he suffered throughout his life - as well as how the hardships he endured fuelled his writing.
Williams, who died in 1983 aged 71, wrote some of American theatre's great classics including A Streetcar Named Desire, The Glass Menagerie and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
Producer Michael Ohoven claims the movie will bear similarities to Bennett Miller's Oscar-winning Truman Capote biopic Capote - which he also produced.
He tells Daily Variety, "I had that same incredible feeling reading this script that I had on Capote and here again is an extremely dramatic story about how a torn and twisted life led Williams to write such great successes."...

Ving Rhames, Ellen Barkin, Rob Corddry, Bob Odenkirk, Jeffrey Tambor and Maggie Q are all in "Rogue's Gallery," an action comedy directed by Paris-based filmmaker Fouad Mikati.
The film, written by Brian Watanabe and Abe Levy, is being produced by Michael Ohoven and Kevin Turen of Infinity Films and Richard Kelly, Sean McKittrick and Ted Hamm of Darko Entertainment. Chadwick Clough, an executive producer on the film, brought the project to Darko; Darko executive Jeff Culotta will oversee the project.
"Rogue's Gallery" details the battle that ensues among groups of government spy teams in an underground facility after their boss is assassinated. The movie began shooting in and around downtown Los Angeles last week.
Joe Anderson, Odette Yustman, Adam Scott and Emilie de Ravin also star in the film.
"It's very rare that you can find a script which combines dry, witty humor with high intensity action," Ohoven said. "In spite of the impending actors strike, we are confident in our decision to begin production."
Infinity's recent releases include the Oscar-nominated "Capote" and "Just Friends." Darko is finishing up production on Kelly's thriller "The Box" and moving forward with "World's Greatest Dad" starring Robin Williams and "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell," an adaptation of Tucker Max's best-seller.

Pride combines the two main themes in the current plethora of sports movies -- the inspirational victory and a Bad News Bears team that goes from ragtag to riches. Throw in historical black empowerment, too, which does occasionally crop up in films like Glory Road. Thus, the problem facing a film like Pride is that it feels like something we saw a month ago. Yes, Terrence Howard delivers another solid lead performance and competition swimming is a new arena for such films. Nonetheless, Pride is just plain trite.
The presence of Howard and popular comedian-actor Bernie Mac, who also is quite good, certainly will help the theatrical release by Lionsgate. Boxoffice probably will be in the midrange with perhaps greater potential on DVD.
The central figure is Jim Ellis, who has coached swim teams composed mostly of blacks from the Philadelphia Department of Recreation for more than 35 years. The screenplay, attributed to a pair of writing teams, Kevin Michael Smith & Michael Gozzard and J. Mills Goodloe & Norman Vance Jr., is a semi-fictional take on the early years when the Marcus Foster Recreational Center suffered from community neglect and was nearly shut down.
Jim (Howard) is no white knight when he initially walks into the graffiti-marred, unkempt facility in 1973. He's just guy who needs a job. In a scene heavy with portent of future showdowns, Jim is denied employment at a white school by a racist coach (Tom Arnold). But he does land a temporary job that amounts to little more than helping to shut down the Marcus Foster Rec Center.
When the city removes the basketball rims from the courts outside, local players drift into the center to discover a remarkably pristine swimming pool. Pretty soon, Jim, who swam competitively in college, is teaching them the butterfly and back strokes. Predictably, the guys are soon eager for competition. And, predictably, their first meet takes place against the preppy Main Line school team coached by Arnold. They get humiliated. One swimmer hits his head against the end of the pool. Another loses his trunks.
So the team buckles down to work, learns to swim much better and gets two more rematches with their nemesis team. In one, the white team refuses to compete in the Rec Center's pool. In the other, a state championship is on the line. The outcome also is predictable.
Howard glides through the story with professional elan, his natural charisma doing most of the work. Bernie Mac for once is playing a character who his not Bernie Mac, and he is terrific as the rec center custodian. Kimberly Elise can't do much with the routine role of a swimmer's sister and a city councilman who has the juice to help the center survive if she so chooses.
The movie supplies both a white and black villain. Along side Arnold's smirking coach is Gary Sturgis' ghetto hood, a character without much dimension or any rationale for harassing a swimming team.
The young actors playing the swimmers aren't given much to work with other than a single defining characteristic -- a stutter for one and glasses indicating braininess for another. But they are attractive actors and solid athletes.
Under the direction of neophyte Sunu Gonera, who might be the first Hollywood director to hail from Zimbabwe, the film is technically proficient. Matthew F. Leonetti's camerawork is polished and fluid, while designer Steve Saklad handles period details well. A soundtrack of Philly Soul -- familiar music from the songwriting team of Gamble and Huff -- makes for great listening.

CANNES -- William Friedkin cranks up the aesthetic meds in Bug, a garden-variety variant of the psycho-solider genre which should snare first-weekend horror fans as surely as a No-Pest strip. Lionsgate, with another one-word title, will be challenged to lure mainstream viewers with a title mug like Bug.
A genre film torched with psychological accelerants, "Bug" is narratively compacted into a single motel room, a cinematic space akin to the cramp of a Santa Monica Boulevard no-Equity theater. As such, there are no chases through Brooklyn under the train or spinning heads, but Friedkin swirls the formulaic story to its most intense inner dimension. With his vigorous camera compositions and a talented cast, he manages to straddle a wickedly fine line between taught portrayal of paranoia and parody of paranoia.
The slug on "Bug": Mysterious Western stranger saddles up with vulnerable pretty lady in out-of-way motel, and together they must fend off the black hats. In this cracked case, Agnes (Ashley Judd) cocktails at a shitkickers' bar, pines away in a seedy motel room and gets crank phone calls, she thinks, from her wacko ex-boyfriend (Harry Connick Jr.) , who has been just sprung from the pen.
In steps the Mysterious Stranger, a stray named Peter (Michael Shannon) picked up by Agnes' co-worker roustabout (Lynn Collins). Peter Is a bit stiff with the womenfolk, but in a physical manner that sexually repressed Agnes readily appreciates. After one night of less-than-tender bliss, Agnes wants him to stay. A protective male, Peter spots a tiny bug in her bed and immediately goes into full-stage bug alert. He convinces her that they have a "bug problem," one far beyond the common insect nuisance. These bugs are part of a diabolical Army experiment gone awry, he tells her: His blood has been infected with larvae in a V.A. hospital run by Nazi imports. Soon, Peter has the place encrusted in tin foil. Weirder, he begins to mutilate himself, trying to purge his poisons. After that, "Bug" gets grosser and grosser.
Admittedly, when synopsized, "Bug" sounds like high camp, but it is smartly and convincingly fleshed out, at least enough to fit inside and burst the seams of generic dimension. Screenwriter Tracy Letts has spun a psychologically taut thriller based around the co-dependent needs and neuroses/psychoses of the lead characters.
With her low self-esteem and loneliness, Agnes is rife for a savior, and Peter's messianic mania injects her with a huge boost of self worth. Judd's ripe performance, coming out of her cocoon into a blaze of rhapsodic psychosis, is this entertainment's most stirring element. As Agnes, she quite convincingly descends into megalomaniac delusion, swelling into, err, an Agnes of Bug state of disgrace.
In his role as the wounded vet, Shannon recalls a young Tim Robbins in his wacko roles, as he whirls and catapults into a deadly state of delirium. As the lout ex-boyfriend, Connick is an apt pretty-boy knucklehead, while Collins brings out the intelligence of her honky-tonk lesbian character.
Under Friedkin's savvy directorial hand, technical contributions are well-realized, though the opening-scene bursts of helicopter blades too sharply clue us to the disabled-vet scenario to follow. Throughout, "Bug" is braced by cinematographer Michael Grady's charged camera movements and visceral compositions. It's also smartly buzzed by the music: Composer Brian Tyler's appropriately weird score and musical supervisor Jay Faires' smartly odd selections help orchestrate our emotions.

Infinity Media, which produced the Oscar-nominated Capote, has set up its next film, Mike the Bike, based on another real-life character. Penned by Paul Pender, the film chronicles the life of British motorcycle champion Mike Hailwood, who won the World Championship 10 times in the 1960s and '70s before being forced to retire after a crash left him partially crippled. Nicknamed Mike the Bike by his fans, the late Hailwood's story still enjoys worldwide recognition, particularly in the U.K. Infinity's Michael Ohoven, who produced Capote, said the film "fits perfectly into Infinity's vision of developing and producing high-quality, commercially driven films with broad international appeal."...

The accidental murderer Tom Ripley, that dear American boy who so loves Europe and the good life, returns once more in "Ripley Under Ground", a tongue-in-cheek thriller crossed with a delicious black comedy. Barry Pepper slips into the role with beguiling ease. One loses the exuberant innocence of Matt Damon but gains the enthusiastic, more practiced amorality of a natural-born con man.
Director Roger Spottiswoode claims that Patricia Highsmith, the novelist who created Ripley in a series of novels, felt that previous movie versions missed the humor of her character and the droll wit of her dark plots. If so, then the late author certainly would have appreciated this take by Spottiswoode and writers Donald Westlake and W. Blake Herron. For "Ripley Under Ground" is a full-blown comedy with well-timed entrances and wicked playfulness.
With the right marketing to emphasize the wit and naughtiness, the film should attract a college crowd and urban sophisticates.
Highsmith's 1970 novel, the second in the series, has been updated to contemporary London and the world of art with the homosexual subtext completely removed. The story contains many credibility-stretching accidents so that criminality comes through force of circumstances, not premeditation. The movie finds Ripley taking a stab at the one profession that would truly suit him -- acting -- as a student in a London academy.
Alas, his art doesn't pay the landlady, and his fake credentials and college transcripts have caught up with him. As a distraction, if nothing else, he accompanies pals to a major gallery opening featuring the works of a friend, the crazed and drunken Derwatt (Douglas Henshall). These pals include Derwatt's sultry lover Cynthia (Claire Forlani), who's beginning to wonder whether Derwatt isn't too crazy, and fellow painter Bernard (Ian Hart), insanely jealous over his friend's success and relationship with Cynthia, his ex.
A purse lying in a car attracts Tom's attention. Once he gets in, his attention is diverted by the sleeping beauty in the back seat, a young and beautiful French student named Heloise (Jacinda Barrett). She has a boyfriend, but Tom manages to dispose of him in quick order.
The opening is such a smash that Derwatt makes a drunken proposal to Cynthia. She looks at him in horror and says no. Enraged, Derwatt jumps into his sports car and roars off into the night. Gallery owner Jeff Constant (Alan Cumming) follows with Tom, Cynthia, Bernard and Heloise (who has gone back to sleep) to "protect my investment."
Too late. Derwatt crashes his car, and the world has one less mad-genuis artist. Devastated, Jeff moans that he can't sell a single painting by an unknown dead painter. Tom gets the brilliant idea of deep-freezing Derwatt's body for a few days so the paintings can sell.
When the conspirators discover that Derwatt's studio contains a trove of unfinished paintings, they prevail upon the unstable Bernard to finish the paintings for further sales. Cynthia's suddenly reawakened romantic interest in Bernard seals the deal. Meanwhile, Tom follows Heloise to France, where he is delighted to discover that she is an heiress living in a country chateau that makes Fountainbleu look humble.
Everything goes swell until wealthy American art collector Murchison (Willem Dafoe) shows up and declares his Derwatt a forgery. Soon enough, Murchison goes missing -- really and truly, his death at Tom's hands is accidental -- so Scotland Yard detective Webster (Tom Wilkinson) comes calling.
The script bristles with wit, and Spottiswoode keeps things moving, rushing by every plot hole to keep us focused on his roguish characters. The movie's greatest enjoyment comes from watching the gradual evolution of Heloise from beguiling flirt to ambiguous heiress to Tom's absolute soulmate. Apparently, she absorbed a lot while asleep.
There is much funny business with the movie's two corpses as they get buried, dug up and hidden again. Cinematographer Paul Sarossy and designer Ben Scott make no bones about ogling the swank gallery, posh restaurants, trendy London, glittery Paris and that lovely chateau. Jeff Danna's score, while reminiscent of Gabriel Yared's propulsive, jazz-influenced music in "The Talented Mr. Ripley", is flecked with its own comic commentary.
The actors push characters to extremes without ever sacrificing complete credibility. Pepper is never more innocent looking then when committing a crime. Cumming hasn't a scruple in his body, while Forlani has a body that knows no scruples. Hart is a study in slow-motion disintegration. Wilkinson depicts the frustration of a sharp detective who finds himself outmaneuvered by a con man. But Barrett's naughty French heiress nearly steals the show.
