Cobra Kai season 6: Netflix announces premiere dates for 15 episode, 3 part conclusion to the series
Production on the sixth and final season of the hit Netflix series Cobra Kai, a continuation of the Karate Kid film franchise, was delayed several months due to the writers and actors strikes last year – but the extended wait is going to be worth it, because Netflix has just announced that the show is wrapping up with a 15 episode season (previous seasons consisted of 10 episodes), and they’re splitting the episodes up to make it a three part event! As they put it, “The end of a legacy… deserves a Grand Finale.” They’ve also revealed premiere dates: Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 1 premieres July 18, 2024. Part 2 premieres November 28, 2024. The Finale Event comes in 2025.
I’m hyped to finally have premiere dates for most of the episodes, because this show has become one of my all-time favorites over the course of the previous five seasons. I grew up on the Karate Kid movies and always enjoyed them,...

And you thought waiting for the back half of a “Stranger Things” season was agonizing. Netflix is splitting the final season of “Cobra Kai,” Season 6, into three parts.
You read that right. Though it has become commonplace for Netflix to divide new seasons of its biggest hits into two parts, this is the first time the streamer has split a season (of any series) into thirds. The next-up example of a hit Netflix original being halved is mere weeks away. The eight-episode “Bridgerton” Season 3 will premiere the first four on May 16 and the back half on June 13.

When Cobra Kai returns to Netflix for its sixth and final season, the Karate Kid spinoff plans to expand the Miyagiverse significantly. The teen-focused drama Crane kicked martial arts action fans in the face in 2018, building on the Karate Kid legacy started by Ralph Macchio (Daniel Larusso), William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence), and Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi). With every season, Cobra Kai has grown through fan-service casting, interpersonal drama, and hard-hitting action. No one could have predicted the Miyagiverse would expand the way it has because of Cobra Kai, and now the show’s co-creator, Jon Hurwitz, says fans can expect Season 6 to explore the franchise in exciting ways like never before!
In a thread on Twitter/X, Hurwitz assured fans the final season of the series delivers big surprises, in-depth character flashbacks, and plot elements that expand the Miyagiverse.
“Season 6 expands the ‘Karate Kid/Cobra Kai’ universe more than the first 5 seasons combined.

The number of actors the Netflix TV series Cobra Kai has brought back to reprise their characters from the Karate Kid films has been very impressive. Not only do you have Ralph Macchio and William Zabka back as Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence, but there’s also Martin Kove and Thomas Ian Griffith as villains John Kreese and Terry Silver, Yuji Okumoto and Sean Kanan as villains-turned-allies Chozen Toguchi and Mike Barnes; Ron Thomas, Rob Garrison, and Tony O’Dell as Johnny’s former Cobra Kai buddies; and appearances by Elisabeth Shue as Ali Mills, Tamlyn Tomita as Kumiko, and Robyn Lively as Jessica Andrews. They even brought Traci Toguchi back as Yuna, the “Girl Bell Ringer” she played in The Karate Kid Part II. But one actor who might not be returning from the films is Hilary Swank, who played Julie Pierce in the 1994 film The Next Karate Kid.

Netflix is ready to show you no mercy with the final chapter of the original Karate Kid universe as Cobra Kai gears up for season six. The popular series would suffer a bit of a delay when the dual strikes from the writers and actors brought Hollywood to a standstill, but like Mr. Miyagi’s secret method of healing injuries, the cast and crew rigorously rubbed their palms together to set the wounds and get back into the fight. The show is celebrating by releasing a video that commences the production of the final season, with the cast trying their best to contain their excitement and not give away any spoilers.

Netflix will not be moving forward with a second season of “Obliterated,” Variety has confirmed.
Hailing from “Cobra Kai” creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald, the comedy followed a special forces team who — after believing they’d thwarted a deadly threat to Las Vegas —celebrates their victory accordingly with a party filled with booze, drugs and sex only to discover that a bomb they deactivated was a fake. The now intoxicated team has to fight through their impairments, overcome their personal issues, find the real bomb and save the world.
Shelley Hennig, Nick Zano, Alyson Gorske, C. Thomas Howell, Eugene Kim, Paola Lázaro and Amalia Yoo star.
Hurwitz, Schlossberg and Heald executive produced “Obliterated” with Dina Hillier from Counterbalance Entertainment. Sony Pictures Television is the studio.
The news comes as Hurwitz and Heald recently teased that he and the team were back at work on the sixth and final season of “Cobra Kai.

Rumor has it that Netflix was originally planning to release the sixth and final season of their hit series Cobra Kai, a continuation of the Karate Kid film franchise, this month. The cast and crew were heading into production back in May (Netflix even released some table read footage) – but then the writers strike hit, causing filming to shut down. Then came the actors strike, which made sure it stayed shut down a while longer. But both of those strikes are now over, and cast member Courtney Henggeler has revealed that Cobra Kai season 6 is finally going to start filming / resume production next month!
The folks at Screen Rant took the opportunity to ask Henggeler about Cobra Kai when they crossed paths with her at a red carpet event. When they asked for info on what fans can expect from the new season, Henggeler answered, “I wish I knew. I...

“Cobra Kai never dies” – that may be true, but all good things must come to an end, including the hit Netflix show that announced the upcoming sixth season will be its last. The series that has quickly become a cult classic (just like the original film) centers around the premise of karate and the two different styles/variations of the martial art that Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) teach to their students. Despite airing more than thirty years after the original movie premiered, Cobra Kai has risen to be one of Netflix’s top shows of all time and will be sorely missed by it’s beloved fans.
Despite the inevitable disappointment from fans who would love to see the series continue on, audiences can rest assured knowing that the sixth and final season will be bigger and better than all the others, as promised by the shows creators.

The Cobra Kai karate dojo is coming to a close. Netflix's much-loved "The Karate Kid" sequel series is set to end with its upcoming sixth season, according to a statement shared by co-creator Hayden Schlossberg on Twitter. "The upcoming Season Six will mark the conclusion of 'Cobra Kai,'" Schlossberg and co-creators Josh Heald and Jon Hurwitz wrote.
While viewers will no doubt be sad to see the decades-long story of Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) come to an end, it sounds like this conclusion has been in the works for a while. In the statement, the co-creators wrote:
Our day one goal with 'Cobra Kai' has always been to end it on our terms, leaving the Valley in the time and place we've always imagined. So it is with immense pride and thankfulness that we are able to announce that achievement.

"Cobra Kai" is such a phenomenon that when its initial streaming service, YouTube Red, crashed and burned, Netflix swooped in with the renewal. What started as a show subverting the "Karate Kid" franchise by picking up the story from the point of view of middle-aged former villain Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), transformed over five seasons into a sprawling mini-epic involving Lawrence, former archrival Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio), their families, a whole new generation of karate students, and the return of several old enemies and allies who cannot let the past go.

Albert Pyun was a beloved B-movie filmmaker who brought audiences a total of 52 films as a director and who recently passed away leaving two upcoming films seemingly unfinished. Looking at his career, the man knew how to create interesting and entertaining films to say the least. His first release was the 1982 film The Sword and the Sorcerer and his newest was the 2018 film Death Heads: Brain Dead. The man seemed unstoppable, and he will be very missed. To celebrate the man and his work, here are 5 of our favorite films from the Pyuniverse.
The Sword and The Sorcerer (1982)
Pyun’s first film as a director, which he co-wrote with Tom Karnowski and John V. Stuckmeyer, The Sword and the Sorcerer is a medieval-esque epic film with magic, sword, babes, and a whole lot more. There’s a ton on here and the film goes in a few different directions, not...

Netflix’s Cobra Kai returned for its fifth season on September 9 and since then, the popular series has taken control of the No. 1 on the streamer’s top 10 list with no signs of slowing down.
And thanks to that continued success, series creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg are in very high demand. The trio is currently working on their upcoming Netflix series Obliterated, a “high octane” action-comedy that tells the story of an elite special forces team who thwarts a deadly threat to Las Vegas.
Deadline also recently revealed exclusively that Heald, Hurwitz, and Schlossberg are working on a film for Paramount Pictures titled Sam and Victor’s Day Off, a spinoff of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off focusing on the valet drivers who went on a joyride in the John Hughes film.

Who doesn't love a good team-up? From the Avengers and the Justice League to Dominic Torretto's family and the Expendables, action movies tend to feature some seriously badass collections of people that unite to take down the bad guys. We may even see them team up in some pretty major ways from time to time like in "The Suicide Squad" or "Spider-Man: No Way Home." But most recently, we've seen it happen in the latest season of "Cobra Kai."
Long after they were pitted against Daniel Larusso in the first two "Karate Kid" movies, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto) have joined Daniel-san's fight against Terry Silver's new iteration of Cobra Kai in the fifth chapter of Netflix's sequel series to the beloved 1980s martial arts films. Mark your calendars. On June 7, 2024, a brand-new Karate Kid film will premiere. This is according to Sony Columbia Pictures. Cobra Kai, which is produced by Sony Pictures Television for Netflix, just put out its fifth season to rave reviews, opening with a perfect 100 score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer. It’s a repeat of the first season’s perfect 100 score, and every other season has topped 90 or higher. At 10 episodes per season, Cobra Kai is 50 episodes deep. What might a feature film bring to the franchise?
For anyone following along, the show’s creators have already tipped their hands. It opens the portal to the Miyagi-verse.
“It’s a ginormous universe,” teased Josh Heald, one of the show’s creators. Heald spoke to Den of Geek last year right after he and his two creative partners, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg renewed their contract with Sony. Their deal lasts for four years.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for "Cobra Kai" season 5.
In "Cobra Kai" season 5, Terry Silver's (Thomas Ian Griffith) dojo had some international visitors. If you recall, Silver took over Cobra Kai after the All-Valley Tournament at the end of season 4, opening several franchises with state-of-the-art equipment and very shady business practices. Silver has some big plans for his evil dojo dominion, including competing in an international tournament called the Sekai Taikai. He invites a delegation from the tournament to his flagship dojo for a demonstration and possible acceptance into the competition.
If Cobra Kai's students win there, it could change everything, putting the final nail in the coffins of Eagle Fang/Miyagi Do. At the last minute, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) show up. After a display of karate prowess from all dojos, the delegation accepts both sides into the competition.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you haven’t watched all of “Cobra Kai” Season 5, now streaming on Netflix
Every season of “Cobra Kai” seems to one-up itself in terms of dramatic fights, returning “Karate Kid” characters and tantalizing cliffhangers. Season 5, now streaming on Netflix, is no exception, with the finale teasing an inevitable Season 6 — which hasn’t officially been greenlit by Netflix, but the creators say they already have plans for.
Season 5 ends with Kreese (Martin Kove) faking his death and escaping from prison, setting up his return as a possible antagonist if “Cobra Kai” is renewed. With Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) now arrested, things should be quieter in the Valley, unless Kreese seeks payback against Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio). Johnny might also have his hands full with a baby at some point soon, with Carmen (Vanessa Rubio) now expecting.

Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio), Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), and Sensei Kreese (Martin Kove) aren’t the only carry overs from the original three Karate Kid films. Far from it, Cobra Kai has been masterfully tapping its source by bringing back cast members from the movies, regularly serving the fans up with colorful Easter eggs.
Some of the original characters, like Lucille Larusso (Randee Heller), Daniel’s mom, have appeared throughout Cobra Kai. She has been seen in seasons 1, 2, and 4, which is more than she was seen in the latter two Karate Kid films. The original Cobra Kai gang from The Karate Kid Part I, Bobby (Ron Thomas), Jimmy (Tony O’Dell), and Tommy (Rob Garrison) were reunited with Johnny in season 2 in one of the most poignant episodes of the entire show – the death of Tommy. When it comes right down to it, Cobra Kai is about bullies. If Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) had never bullied Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) way back in the first film, The Karate Kid, Daniel probably wouldn’t have pursued Karate. And if Sensei Kreese (Martin Kove) had not bullied Johnny, he probably wouldn’t have swept the leg.
But with all of this bullying in the Miyagi-verse, who is the worst offender? Let’s find out!
The Case for Johnny Lawrence
Cobra Kai has expanded the backstories of many of these bullies and has somewhat redeemed them. They’ve progressed from cardboard cutouts into complex characters with relatable motivations. Case and point: Johnny Lawrence.
From the very beginning of Cobra Kai, Johnny is portrayed as more of a victim than a bully. Dysfunctional relationships with his domineering and abusive stepfather Sid (Ed Asner), his...

Silver's ultimate plan has finally come to light!
Thanks to some finesse by Daniel and Johnny and Kreese falling for their trap on Cobra Kai Season 5 Episode 7, we know what Silver's ultimate plan was this whole time. Global Domination.
The arrival of Sekai Taikai on Cobra Kai Season 5 Episode 8 led to another exciting tournament, and now the war of the dojos has kicked it into the next gear.
Amanda and Chozen are in a dual of their own for the status of Mvp of the season, and at this rate, there's nothing wrong with calling it a draw.
They've been consistent highlights of this season, and not only do they work well together and play off the other characters well, too finding their respective paths in the ongoing drama.
It was a genuinely laugh-out-loud moment when Amanda ran off her title of "karate-adjacent" while standing side by side with the men.

Major spoilers ahead for "Cobra Kai" season 5.
Since Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) first appeared in "Cobra Kai," he's been a thorn in Daniel Larusso's (Ralph Macchio) side. We first met the character back in the 1989 film "The Karate Kid Part III," where we learned that he helped John Kreese (Martin Kove) start the Cobra Kai dojo. They had been old buddies back in the Vietnam War, and Silver — a very wealthy dumper of toxic waste — tries to help Kreese get the dojo up and running after Daniel and Mr. Miyagi (the late Noriyuki "Pat" Morita) humiliated them at the All-Valley tournament.
He poses as a friend, manipulates Daniel's training and relationships, and leads him down the path to anger. In "Cobra Kai," he uses every ruthless method he can to ruin Daniel and Johnny (William Zabka) and their dojos. In season 5, he finally gets his comeuppance. It's the first...

When Xolo Maridueña first stepped into the Blue Beetle suit, there were “a lot of nerves and exhilaration” that came with embodying the DC superhero.
“Excited is not the first word that comes to my brain,” Maridueña told Variety at the Season 5 red carpet premiere of “Cobra Kai” on Wednesday night. “It is nervous excitement, it’s antsiness. It’s the anticipation of knowing that you’re on the brink of something potentially big, but it still feels really intimate because you’re just with the cast and the crew.”
The 21-year-old actor will be portraying the lead role of Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle in DC’s first adaptation of a comic led by a Latino superhero. “I can’t wait for people to see one of the — if not the first — Latino-led superhero movies ever,” he continued.
Last month, it was revealed that Warner Bros. had scrapped plans entirely to release “Batgirl.

Spoilers for "Cobra Kai" season 5.
In the Netflix series "Cobra Kai," Thomas Ian Griffith plays the villain Terry Silver, a role he originated in "The Karate Kid Part III." That film is usually considered very low in the rankings of "Karate Kid" entries. While that may be true, Silver in his current form is a baddie we love to hate.
Terry Silver was a Vietnam War buddy of John Kreese (Martin Kove). The martial artist helped Kreese create the Cobra Kai dojo, but he was also a wealthy businessman whose job it was to dump toxic waste in the third film. His company was called Dynatox, if that helps you get a sense of the level of camp we're dealing with here. Silver did business from his hot tub and faked his way into Daniel Larusso's (Ralph Macchio) life. He pretended to be a sensei, but was really working for Kreese the entire time.

Mild spoilers for "Cobra Kai" season 5 ahead.
The Netflix series "Cobra Kai" is showing no mercy to those of us who love the "Karate Kid" franchise. Not only have we been able to catch up with Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) from 1984's "The Karate Kid," but we've got cameos galore from the subsequent offerings. Cobra Kai sensei Kreese (Martin Kove) is back, along with Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) and Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita) from the second film, Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) and Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan) from the third, and a few more we won't spoil here.
It's a nostalgia bomb in all the best ways, and it's made a lot of us do a film marathon, if only to make sure we recognize all the "Cobra Kai" cameos before they show us flashbacks.
The films in the series include "The Karate Kid" (1984), "The Karate Kid Part II...

Less than a year after “Cobra Kai” Season 4 hit Netflix, the karate series is already back and aiming to outdo the crazy, kung-fu action of the 51st All Valley Tournament.
In the two-part Season 4 finale, Hawk (Jacob Bertrand) defeated Robby (Tanner Buchanan) to win the boys tournament for Miyagi-Do, but Cobra Kai walked away the ultimate winner after Tory (Peyton List) beat Sam (Mary Mouser). However, Tory later realizes her victory was rigged after she sees Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) bribe the referee. Meanwhile, Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) runs away to Mexico to find his father, and Terry frames Kreese (Martin Kove), landing him in jail for a crime Terry committed.
After agreeing to close Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang after losing the tournament, Johnny (William Zabka) and Daniel (Ralph Macchio) must finally put aside their differences and join forces to take down Terry, as he begins to open more Cobra Kai dojos in Southern California.

Plot: Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Season 5 finds Terry Silver expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel Larusso must call on an old friend for help.
Review: After getting two seasons of Cobra Kai in 2021, the fan-favorite series is set to return with an all-new season only nine months since the divisive events of the most recent All Valley Tournament. With Terry Silver firmly in charge of Cobra Kai, John Kreese behind bars, and the rest of the characters left in various subplots, Cobra Kai‘s fifth season brings more cameos, more martial arts action, and more melodrama to the ongoing successor to The Karate Kid feature films. In its fifth season, "Cobra Kai" gets both its "Empire Strikes Back" moment and its "Avengers: Endgame" moment, as the legacy sequel reaches its finest moment. The show also throws any resemblance to the real world out of the window and goes full sports anime. This means the show has its own ridiculous set of rules and laws that may not make sense in our world, but if you're willing to accept that in this version of the San Fernando Valley the only law is karate, then you might find this season utterly delightful. Add some career-best performances by some of the cast members, one incredible cartoon villain, and thrilling stunts, and you've got a season that is the best, around.

Cobra Kai, the popular series that extended the Karate Kid franchise returns after the dojo crew of villainous Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) shockingly won the All Valley Tournament. Is all lost? “In Season 5, we lean into what happens when the war seems over,” says exec producer Josh Heald. Here are three storylines ready to strike: (Credit: Curtis Bonds Baker/Netflix) Silver plans to bring his violent “No Mercy” teachings to other schools. Could villain Mike Barnes’ (Sean Kanan) return be to help? Daniel (Ralph Macchio) has his own weapon in baddie turned ally Chozen (Yuji Okumoto). Says Heald, “Chozen’s journey will be thrilling to watch.” Newly reconciled Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and teen son Robby (Tanner Buchanan) head to Mexico to retrieve Robby’s karate rival Miguel (Xolo Maridueña), who is seeking his allegedly nefarious biological father. Heald says to expect “a journey of discovery for good, bad...

Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament in Season 4, Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) is expanding the Cobra Kai empire in Season 5. As he tries to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the mainstay of the Valley, it appears that Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) is turning to a new career as a paid driver, and Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) is closing up Miyagi-Do. (Credit: Courtesy of Netflix) As Kreese (Martin Kove) sits behind bars after being falsely accused of beating up Raymond (Paul Walter Hauser), a.k.a. Stingray, the only defense the Valley has are Daniel and former foe-turned-ally Chozen (Yuji Okumoto). Teaming up with Johnny, will they have the strength to take down Terry’s growing army of Cobra Kai recruits?...
