Inducted into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame in 2001.
Nigerian drummer, vocalist, composer, dance choreographer, teacher, author and social activist. He lived and performed for many years in New York City.
He received a scholarship to study at Morehouse College in Atlanta. He became a pioneering drummer and recorded 17 studio albums, including his 1959 debut Drums of Passion.
