Stars: Luke Goss, Louis Mandylor, Elya Baskin, Audrey De León, Roberto ‘Sanz’ Sanchez, Mark Krenik, Ian Sharp, Renton Pexa, Marshal Hilton, Alain Mora, Matt Valvardi | Written by Robert Orr | Directed by R. Ellis Frazier
Former pop star turned actor Luke Goss has had an interesting post-pop career, carving his own path in Hollywood, appearing in a number of action movies since his star-making turn in Blade 2. He has put in some great performances in a bevy of direct-to-market action movies, in particular the Death Race Dtv sequels – two of my personal favourites of his. What makes Goss such a good action star is, honestly, his smouldering good looks and a quiet demeanour. Thanks to which, he can pull off a smooth spy role and a quiet hard man of action hero proportions. In Legacy he does both, playing MI6 agent Gray – who in the opening calmly and smoothly (with...

Chicago – “The Resident” is one of those thrillers in which you’re never supposed to be quite sure what the hell is going on and the deceptive description on the back of the box makes it sound like it could be a ghost story (as does the involvement of horror icon Christopher Lee). From the beginning, you’ll be asking yourself, is there something supernatural involved or is this more like “Sleeping With the Enemy” or “Psycho”? The answers come quickly and not in a very satisfying way.
Blu-Ray Rating: 2.0/5.0
Considering the fact that the back of the box tries to sell “The Resident” as a supernatural thriller (“…an evil you can’t see…until it’s too late”), one could consider what’s to follow a spoiler, but it’s so obvious from minute one and revealed well before the halfway mark that I’m not sure too much...

Once extensively working for Hammer, Christopher Lee reunites with his dear old friend after a 34 year separation and the production company's 2008 relaunch. The film that's lured Lee back to the fold firmly fits with Hammer's trademark genre – horror. The Resident is a curious project, combining Hilary Swank as lead and executive producer with Finnish TV director Antti Jokinen, who notably directed the opening segment of 2007's Eurovision Song Contest.
A very preppy-looking Swank plays surgeon Juliet, whose boyfriend cheats on her after she moves especially to New York to be near him. Still hung up on the love of her life and scarred by him betraying her in the bed they shared, Juliet seeks her own apartment in an attempt to rebuild her life. After being shown around some seriously unappealing box-rooms, she stumbles across her dream apartment and too-good-to-be-true landlord, Max (Jeffery Dean Morgan). Reasonably priced and huge, the...

Hillary Swank, Oscar winning star of "Million Dollar Baby", is set to star in a new American horror movie produced by the new version of Hammer Films. The film is entitled "The Resident," and it's about a woman stalked by her psycho landlord. It's also going to be filmed in America apparently. Antti J. Jokinen is directing his own script, co-written with Robert Orr and revised by Erin Cressida. Not sure how big this is for fans of Hammer Horror, as this film is being shot in the U.S. When I first heard the news, I had images of Swank playing a British aristocrat from the 1700s battling vampires or something -- but that cleary ins't happening.
