Kate Mara ("House of Cards," "Fantastic Four") has been offered a role in Ridley Scott's sci-fi epic "The Martian" for 20th Century Fox. Drew Goddard adapted Andy Weir's book with Matt Damon set to play a Nasa astronaut left stranded on Mars after his crewmates are forced to evacuate due to a dust storm.

After being knocked out by two men on Friday night in Sept. 13, 2002, he has since become "obsessed with every shape in his house, from rectangles of the windows to the curvature of a spoon."
