- Yulian Panich was born on May 23, 1931 in Zinovievsk, Ukrainian SSR, USSR [now Kirovohrad, Ukraine]. He was an actor and director, known for Brass Target (1978), Raznye sudby (1956) and Vsego dorozhe (1957). He was married to Ludmila Zweig. He died on October 9, 2023 in Rambouillet, Paris, France.

- Emigrated from Soviet Union in 1972, worked as a journalist for Radio Freedom/Radio Free Europe.
- In 1972 he left the Soviet Union for Israel. Later that year he was offered a job in Munich with the Radio Liberty/Free Europe radio. Soon Panich became chief program producer with the Russian service (Radio Svoboda) and the symbol of anti-Soviet resistance. As such he was the object of special interest by the KGB.
