- One of the first two contract players for Walt Disney Studios, she made her debut in Song of the South (1946) as a poor white child fascinated by the stories told by Uncle Remus. She made several more films as a child star, then left film for 8 years. She returned as an ingénue in Rock, Pretty Baby! - While a student at Wilson High in Long Beach California in 1956, she was working as a box office cashier at the Lakewood Center Theater when it was held up. The movie playing was her second film, Song of the South (1946).
