British war movie Kajaki hits Irish cinemas this Friday, and I was lucky enough to spend some time with actor Scott Kyle who played paratrooper Stuart Pearson, one of the group of soldiers whose experience trapped in a minefield in Afghanistan in 2006 inspired the movie. From paying respect to the survivors of this horrific ordeal to the actors bonding at bootcamp, as well as Kyle selling the idea of a Kajaki stage play really, really well, there is quite a bit up for discussion, so take some time off to listen to it through the links below. Kajaki is released in Omniplex Cinemas on Friday March 13th. The exhibitor will screen the film at 20 cinemas from Jan 9 and will host a special screening on Jan 11 at Cineworld Aldershot – the “home” of the British Army – attended by the filmmakers, cast and a number of the veterans whose story the film tells.

'The Thick Of It's penultimate episode took off on a tangent, swapping the one-week each formula previously shared by Coalition and Opposition, for an hour-long special, focusing wholly on the Goolding Inquiry, digging into the death of Mr Tickell, and the prevalent culture of "dissemination of confidential information between political parties and the media" - so leaking, then.
Any likeness to real-life events was purely... the work of a mischievous Mr Iannucci and Co, as every Minister and staff member got to hang out not just dirty washing, but every prejudice, personal failing, unforgotten slight and mission to self-serve to boot.
