With "Avatar: The Way of Water" proving to be yet another massive box office success for director James Cameron, it looks like we're going to be getting those sequels he's been teasing for over a decade now -- and I say bring them on. In that time, Cameron painstakingly mapped out the regions of Pandora, as well as the moon's inhabitants, with one of them being a Na'vi fire clan called the Ash People. Given all of the canonical Na'vi tribes established within the world of "Avatar," it stands to chance that we've barely scratched the surface, especially with the new one we just spent over three hours with.
In "The Way of Water," in order to keep his family safe, Jake Sully leaves his clan to seek refuge among the Metkayina. Where the Omatikaya are adept at being one with the forest, the Metkayina are a water tribe, and...

THR recently reported that Bulgarian director, Javor Gadev, is set to helm the upcoming greek mythological film Theseus. Described as "a special effects-heavy take on the Greek myth of the minotaur monster and the hero who defeated it."
I am not familiar with any of Gadev’s work, but apparently the folks backing this film have a lot of faith in him, because they are assembling a hefty team to work on this film. The script was written by Kira Madallo Sesay, the head of Kallipe Films, who will also produce the movie.
Kalliope, whose credits include the upcoming Hansel and Gretel in 3D, another high-tech update of a classic tale, have assembled an impressive tech team for Theseus. Joseph C. Last week, it was announced that The Institute — a media company founded by Michael Bay and Scott Gardenhour that has been using its motto, “Where Brand Science Meets Great Storytelling,” in commercials until now — was set to produce its first feature film, the live-action Hansel and Gretel in 3D.
What exactly does that mean, and how is it different from product placement? “One of things that we say a lot of times here is, ‘You’ve almost got to be a marketer as well as a filmmaker these days,” Gardenhour tells EW. “A lot of times, brands will come to...

I suppose it was only a matter of time, but it appears that Michael Bay is now ready to jump on the live action fairy tale bandwagon with a 3-D adaptation of his own. Hey, if Brett Ratner is producing one [1], then clearly Bay needs to get his hands in there as well. Truth be told, we don't actually know how involved Michael Bay will be, but Kalliope Films [2] is teaming up with his production company The Institute [3] to create (wait for it) Hansel & Gretel in 3D! As you may know, the story revolves around a brother and sister who find a gingerbread house in the woods and eat it, only to be captured by the evil witch who lives there. According to the press release, this will be "an action packed visual FX filled version of the beloved Grimm Brothers' fairy tale." Sounds like we may even get some...

Michael Bay’s production company The Institute unveils a new poster for Hansel & Gretel In 3D!...
The success of Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland has got Hollywood rushing to its bookshelves to find similar fairy tales and children's stories to adapt.
Earlier this month, Working Title Films and director Joe Wright announced the production of a live-action version of The Little Mermaid, based on the Hans Christian Anderson story of the same name, while The Devil Wears Prada writer Aline Brosh McKenna is apparently working on her own version of Cinderella.
Meanwhile, Michael Bay's production company, The Institute, is working on a fairy tale adaptation of its own, Hansel & Gretel In 3D!, whose teaser poster you can see here. As website Chud has already pointed out, the typeface chosen for the film title is suspiciously similar to the one used for Harry Potter, so no prizes for guessing...

Grimm's classic Fairy Tale Hansel and Gretel is getting a brand new 3D, action-packed visual effects filled adaptation. The new film is being developed by Kalliope Films and Michael Bay's The Institute. The classic story follows two young kids who stumble upon a house made of candy, and a witch the likes to eat children.
I have no idea what to expect from this film. I love the story of Hansel and Gretel, it's extreamly dark and disturbing and could make for a great horror film. One of the things the film will do is introduce some legendary creatures from German mythology, which are being created by Joseph C. Pepe, the lead character designer from Avatar. This definitely has the potential to be a fun movie, I just hope it doesn't end up being a cheaply made bad film.
There's also another Hansel and Gretel movie being made...

It seems we are about to be showered with the delights of the famous storytelling German duo, as not only have Will Ferrell and Adam McKay announced their intention to produce Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters as a horror comedy, but Michael Bay's production company The Institute has released a press release describing its vision for a live-action 3D epic of the classic tale.
While the director's chair remains unoccupied thus far, Bay's stellar background (at the box office at least) bodes well for the film's success, with big hitters Pearl Harbor, Armageddon and the Transformers franchise under his belt. As well as the infamous cannibalistic witch and her house of goodies, Bay promises to create a whole host of 'legendary creatures of German mythology' with the help of Avatar designer Joseph C. Pepe.

Fairy tales seem to be an endlessly attractive proposition for studios and filmmakers to feed into the mighty maw of development. And the Grimm brothers' Hansel & Gretel are fast becoming favourites. Earlier this year it was announced that Will Ferrell and Adam McKay were producing Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters as a horror comedy, and now Michael Bay is getting in on the action via his production company The Institute. His vision? A 3D live-action adventure.Bay won’t be directing this one (at least, the press release from The Institute doesn’t say that he will, nor does it indicate if anyone has been picked yet). Oh, and there’s no mention of a script in place, just the fact that it’s scheduled for a spring 2011 shoot and that lots of things will blow up.Okay, not so much with the last bit, but the film will aim for plenty of creature spectacle,...

We already know the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel will get a bit of a makeover in dark fantasy with their involvement as psychic exterminators in the adaptation of graphic novel Legends, and the pseudo-sequel Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. Now Kalliope Films and The Institute (a brand new company co-founded by Michael Bay) have announced plans to release an action packed 3D version of the story chock full of special effects. The original tale followed the young titular brother/sister as they get lost in the woods only to discover a house made of candy (seen above) inhabited by a child-devouring witch. In addition to the terrifying witch who scared kids away from candy houses, apparently this will also feature Teutonic beings of German mythology which will be designed by Joseph C. Pepe, the lead character designer from Avatar. Outside of these sparse details,...
