Porno for Pyros recently wrapped up their “Horns, Thorns En Halos” farewell tour, and now they’ve released their final song ever, a tune called “Fingernail.”
“Fingernail” is one of three new songs Porno for Pyros recorded last year, and follows the release of the tracks “Agua” and “Little Me.” Each of the tunes were written in the ’90s but never properly recorded at that time.
Like the other two tracks, “Fingernail” features Porno for Pyros’ original lineup of singer Perry Farrell, guitarist Peter Distefano, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Martyn LeNoble. The tune also includes piano and string arrangements by Robert Adam Stevenson, who co-produced all three songs.
“The moment the melody touched the words I knew it would be a special song,’ said Farrell of “Fingernail,” adding. “But I was too immature to understand the essence fully.”
He continued, “There is no pain in the cutting of our hair,...

Wayne Kramer, co-founder, guitarist, and singer of the influential Detroit rock band MC5, has died at the age of 75. Kramer’s passing was announced on Friday (February 2nd) in a post shared to Instagram, revealing that the legendary musician died of pancreatic cancer.
“Wayne Kramer passed away today peacefully from pancreatic cancer. He will be remembered for starting a revolution in music, culture, and kindness,” read the statement on his official Instagram account.
MC5’s history dates back to 1963, when Kramer started a band with fellow guitarist Fred “Sonic” Smith. After a couple years, the classic lineup of Kramer, Smith, singer Rob Tyner, bassist Michael Davis, and drummer Dennis Thompson was in place.

Porno for Pyros have unveiled the new song “Little Me” ahead of their upcoming farewell tour. The tune follows their comeback single “Agua,” which was released in November.
The alt-rock band reunited in 2022 to play their first shows in a quarter century. Their first full-fledged outing in 27 years — dubbed the “Horns, Thorns en Halos Farewell Tour” — kicks off February 13th in Santa Ana, California, and runs through a March 10th show in Montclair, New Jersey. Tickets are available here.
Last year, the band’s original lineup of singer Perry Farrell, drummer Stephen Perkins, guitarist Peter Distefano, and bassist Martyn LeNoble recorded a handful of songs for an as-yet-untitled forthcoming EP. LeNoble will not be part of the upcoming tour. Instead, Mike Watt, who played with Porno for Pyros from 1995 to 1998, will handle bass duties.

After playing a few reunion shows last year, Porno for Pyros recently announced a 2024 North American farewell tour.
And while a press release announcing the tour revealed that original members Perry Farrell (vocals), Peter Distefano (guitar), and Stephen Perkins (drums) would be taking part, a bassist was unconfirmed.
That led us to wonder: Would it be original bassist Martyn LeNoble or latter-era bassist Mike Watt? Or someone else altogether?
So, when Heavy Consequence caught up with Farrell recently to discuss the band’s upcoming EP and farewell tour (tickets available here), the singer gave us the scoop on who will be playing bass on the 2024 outing, albeit a bit cryptically at first.
“Martyn LeNoble is a wonderful guy – he loves the outdoors, he loves to track animals out in the wild,” began Farrell. “He really is a naturalist. By the time we got the tour together, Martyn was heading out to the forests.

On the heels of announcing their farewell tour, Porno for Pyros played a secret loft party in downtown Los Angeles over the weekend. The gig saw the band performing with Mike Watt, who served as the group’s bassist from 1995 to 1998.
Watt actually played with Porno for Pyros during their first reunion show last year at Welcome to Rockville, while original bassist Martyn LeNoble joined the band for their other 2022 gigs. A press release for Porno for Pyros’ 2024 farewell outing lists Perry Farrell, Peter Distefano, and Stephen Perkins as the touring band, leaving it a bit of a mystery as to who will be playing bass on the full tour.
During the loft show, Porno for Pyros performed a four-song set that included the live debut of recent comeback single “Agua,” along with classic tracks “Good God’s://Urge!,” “Tahitian Moon,” and “Pets.”

As promised, Porno for Pyros have unleashed their first new song in 26 years. The track, titled “Agua,” serves as the first single off an upcoming EP, set for release in early 2024.
While “Agua” is new for fans, the song was originally written during sessions for the band’s 1996 album, Good God’s Urge, but was never properly recorded at the time. The band’s reunited classic lineup — Perry Farrell, Stephen Perkins, Peter Distefano, and Martyn LeNoble — hit the studio recently to record the song, along with other new tunes slated for the EP.
Farrell said of the track, “The people who live here on the West Coast have a beautiful love and passion for the Pacific Ocean. The ocean doesn’t look right, doesn’t feel right, doesn’t surf right. You go and swim in it, and you get the creeps. The sunsets are different. We are really, really screwing it up.

A day after Porno for Pyros rescheduled their first tour in 25 years, the reunited Perry Farrell-led band has released “Agua,” their first new song in 26 years.
The track, which the band worked on while rehearsing for their postponed reunion tour (now a farewell tour), was inspired by encounters the group had with dolphins while surfing in the Nineties, calling “Agua” “an ode to the sea and all its beautiful creatures.”
As such, Porno for Pyros have teamed with the Surfrider Foundation, which advocates for protecting the oceans, for the “Agua” release.

Jane’s Addiction unveiled their first new song in a decade on Sunday (March 5th) during a concert in Bakersfield, California. The tune, titled “True Love,” was performed by the band’s current touring lineup of Perry Farrell, Stephen Perkins, Eric Avery, and Josh Klinghoffer (who is filling in for Dave Navarro).
“True Love” is the first new Jane’s tune since 2013’s “Another Soulmate,” a one-off single that followed the band’s 2011 album The Great Escape Artist.
The slow ballad is driven by Avery’s melodic bass line, enhanced by Klinghoffer’s occasional guitar theatrics, as Farrell sings with a subdued restraint throughout the song.
Jane’s have been sharing video clips of Farrell, Avery, and Perkins in the studio on Instagram, and it could be assumed that “True Love” was written during those sessions. Last year, Farrell told Heavy Consequence during a video interview that he’d love...

Perry Farrell reunited Porno for Pyros for their fist full performance in 26 years at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona, Florida on Sunday, May 22.

When Lollapalooza revealed this week that Metallica will headline the festival this summer, the announcement reminded some fans of the drama that resulted when the Bay Area bangers first headlined there in 1996. At the time, Lolla was still the premiere showcase for so-called “alternative” bands; top-billed acts in its first five years had included Jane’s Addiction, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alice in Chains, and the Smashing Pumpkins.

The wait is finally over. We should put extra emphasis on that wait because it is referring to the eight years we went without a new Jane’s Addiction studio album. We tried covering up the music void with tunes from an array of alternative rock bands, but the tracks only proved to be a temporary fix. Nothing hits our psychedelic cravings like Jane’s Addiction songs. So, it’s goodbye to the posers and hello again to the rock legends, Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro and Stephen Perkins. Before we dive into our analysis of the band’s fourth studio album, we just want to get one thing straight. Of course, the trio’s sound...

Frontman, Perry Farrell, guitarist, Dave Navarro and drummer, Stephen Perkins, will drop their fourth studio album on October 18th via Capitol. If you have been following our Jane’s Addiction posts, you might have realized the alternative rock founding fathers pushed their album’s street date back a few weeks from the album’s original release date of September 27th. The end of summer is usually a depressing time, but our fall fear won’t be so bad this year, since the tunes of Jane’s Addiction will be around to ease the pain. The founding fathers of alternative rock, vocalist, Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer, Stephen Perkins, will release their upcoming studio album, “The Great Escape Artist”, on September 27th via Capitol Records. Entering yet another decade, Jane’s Addiction will be able to impact a new generation of “untarnished” ears with their forthcoming album. The alternative rockers would not be the immensely influential band they are today, if it wasn’t for their past albums, which include, “Nothing’s Shocking”, “Ritual...

Where do we even begin with Jane’s Addiction? Thanking them for their decades of contributions to defining the sound of alternative rock music is probably the best place to start. Selling over seven million records in the U.S. alone, garnering Grammy nominations and launching and headlining the music festival, Lollapalooza, Jane’s Addiction are legends in the music world. Forming in Los Angeles, California in 1985, Jane’s Addiction consisted of vocalist, Perry Farrell, guitarist, Dave Navarro, bassist, Eric Avery and drummer, Stephen Perkins. Alt-rock legends Jane's Addiction killed it the other night, performing an eight-song, forty-two minute after-hours set at, of all places, Google's annual I/O developer conference in San Francisco. The original lineup was on stage, minus bassist Eric Avery, replaced by Strays-era low-ender Chris Chaney. Jane's is keeping in fighting trim, while grabbing some of that corporate money, as they prepare to tour in support of their forthcoming album, The Great Escape Artist. Lead singer Perry Farrell brought his nasally defiance to the tech-heads, gently teasing the crowd about "Googlepalooza" as he intermittently swigged from a bottle of wine. Stephen Perkins hasn't missed a beat with his tribal thump on drums, and Dave Navarro remains the guy who's no longer with Carmen Electra. (Just kidding.) It's funny to see how smartphones and tablets have usurped the place of lighters at rock [...]...
