Film Independent, the non-profit arts organization that produces the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Spirit Awards, announced on Sunday the jury and audience award winners for the 2012 Festival at the Awards Brunch, hosted by Chaya Downtown for the third year. Actors Jon Heder and Ari Graynor were on hand to present the awards. The La Film Fest, presented by Film Independent and Host Venue Regal Cinemas L.A. Live Stadium 14 and presenting media sponsor Los Angeles Times, ran from Thursday, June 14 to Sunday, June 24 in downtown Los Angeles.
“Every single filmmaker in this year’s Festival deserves kudos for their artistry and compelling stories. Our juries had such gems to choose from in each competition and the winners truly represent what we hold dear.diversity and uniqueness of vision,” said Festival Director Stephanie Allain.

Fresh off of a victorious Oscars Sunday that saw Pyle's "The Artist" scoop up five Academy Awards, including for Best Picture, the actress has scored a co-starring role in Fox's upcoming comedy pilot "Prodigy Bully." Fox has picked up a new comedy pilot from Glee actor Mike O'Malley. O'Malley, who plays Burt Hummel on the network's musical drama, will write and executive produce Prodigy Bully, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Fox has given a pilot order to Prodigy Bully, a half-hour comedy written by Glee co-star Mike O’Malley and executive produced by John Wells. Based on the Prodigy Bully one-minute movies by Hank Perlman, the comedy centers on a young boy genius who uses his brains and brawn to get whatever he wants. John Wells Prods. and Warner Bros TV are producing, with Wells, Paris Barclay and Jwp’s Andrew Stearn executive producing and O’Malley co-executive producing. This is the second time Prodigy Bully has gotten to a pilot stage. Jwp and Wbtv first took a stab at developing a single-camera comedy based on the Prodigy Bully shorts during the 2005-2006 season.
