So many questions I never knew I had were answered last night during a packed house screening of New Year’s Eve. A spiritual sequel to last year’s Valentine’s Day, director Garry Marshall, writer Katherine Fugate, and at least three actors playing different characters return. Besides learning the general masses savor broad-stroked comedy when it’s spoon-fed to them, I also discovered trite generic love to be their fantasy dream-come-true of choice. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised since this film received the greenlight despite its dismal predecessor wowing in its mediocrity.
But not all is lost. So many mysteries are uncovered during the course of the film. For instance, did you know Alyssa Milano still acted? Neither did I. That’s not to say she acts much here in a total of two minutes of screen time, but she does still have an agent. What...

Well, our Christmas wish came early this year. Pamela Anderson went through with her plans to play the Virgin Mary during a Canadian TV special.
The former "Baywatch" babe, dressed modestly, cuddled the Baby Jesus as part of a comedy sketch during the CTV Christmas special. She was joined by comics including "SNL" alum Jon Lovitz and Russell Peters.
The former Playboy playmate tells Fox of her chaste character, "I've been typecast - again."
Not everyone was happy that someone like Anderson, who could be considered a pioneer in celebrity sex tapes, played the biblical character.
The National Catholic Register expressed disappointment in the casting move. They wrote that if CTV "want(s) to shock us, show a little reverence."...

"I've been typecast - again," Fox News quoted her as saying.

Morgan Spurlock has never been one to take a break. You'd think after releasing the awesome [1] Pom Wonderful Presents The Greatest Movie Ever Sold (now available in your home) he might take some time off. But no. Bollywood star Akshay Kumar shares the screen with American actor Rob Lowe and Grammy Award-winning rapper Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges in new film Breakaway, to be released in the UK on September 30.
As well as his cameo appearance, Akshay is producing the movie, making him the first Bollywood actor to be a producer on a Hollywood project.
Directed by Robert Lieberman, the film tracks a young man struggling between traditional Indo-Canadian family values and his dreams of hockey stardom.
The cast also includes Vinay Virmani, Russell Peters, Camilla Belle (10,000Bc, Jurassic Park 2) and Noureen DeWulf (Ocean's 13).
After working with Snoop Dogg for the title track of Singh is Kinng and with Kylie Minogue on the song Chiggy Wiggy for the film Blue, Akshay this time collaborates with Ludacris for the track Shera Di Khom in Breakaway. Canadian rapper Aubrey 'Drake' Graham also provides a song for the film.

Morgan Spurlock, the filmmaker behind the anti-McDonald's documentary Super Size Me, has a new project, A Day in the Life, set to premiere August 17—on Hulu. A Day in the Life will feature six half-hour episodes each chronicling a 24 hour period in the life of jet-setting entrepreneur Richard Branson, the Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am, comedian Russell Peters, Girl Talk, and others. Hulu's decision to invest in premium long form original programming follows Netflix's $100 million purchase for rights to Kevin Spacey's 26 episode, half-hour series House of Cards. With A Day in the Life, Hulu is transitioning from the familiar role as a passive distributor of TV shows from ABC, NBC, and Fox—the networks owned by Hulu's media company parents—to a business of original programming. But unlike what Netflix seems to be doing, Hulu is not laying down the gauntlet and competing with TV. Andy Forssell,...

Briefly: Hulu is moving into the competitive 'original content' space. The web channel, which started off with network TV episodes and clips and some movie offerings, expanded with a licensing deal with the Criterion Collection, and is now working with Super-Size Me director Morgan Spurlock on an original series. A Day in the Life will be a long-form series that chronicles -- as the title suggests -- one day in the life of creative figures. Six half-hour shows have been ordered so far, with an odd roster of subjects including will.i.am, Russell Peters and mashup artist/DJ Gregg Michael Gillis, aka Girl Talk [1]. The first episode, set to arrive on August 17, will feature British billionaire and Virgin Group chairman Richard Branson. This is the second big new venture from Morgan Spurlock that will debut this year; his documentary Comic Con: Episode IV - A Fan's Hope was just...

Following his streak of bizarre antics, Charlie Sheen closed his first Canadian tour stop by toasting the ashes of an audience member's dead husband.
After an hour of frenetic conversation between Sheen and comedian Russell Peters during the actor's "My Violent Torpedo of Truth" show, Sheen called out to the audience for a woman whose husband had died two years ago to come onstage. Sheen said he read about her in a newspaper article.
The otherwise raucous audience in Toronto's Massey Hall fell silent as Wendy Newman took to the stage, clad all in black and carrying a vessel. Newman told the show-goers that her husband died of a heart attack and the only way she got through her difficult period was by watching DVDs of Sheen's former sitcom "Two and A Half Men."
When she learned the celebrity was coming to her home city, she snapped up tickets. She...

Charlie Sheen received a muted reception from critics as his 'My Violent Torpedo of Truth' tour reached Toronto. The former Two and a Half Men star toasted the ashes of an audience member's deceased husband with non-alcoholic apple cider and lit up an electronic cigarette during his performance at Massey Hall. Rebecca Spence, reviewing the production for The National Post, said that Sheen's show "wasn't awful, but... certainly wasn't amazing". She praised Russell Peters, a Canadian stand-up comedian who served as co-host and moderator during the Q&A session, saying that she thought he "kept things running smoothly". Spence also noted that the amount of audience (more)...

Do you love crazy shit!? Excellent, then check out the mind-bending new poster for Duncan Jones' action sci-fi flick 'Source Code'. Jake Gyllenhaal gets himself caught up in a crazy time looping adventure under the expert eye of the fore-mentioned 'Moon' director. The new poster dons the 'What is the Sourde Code' tag and we can only think that it represents some form of cross between train lines and timetables and 'flux capactior'-esque mechanics that powers the experiment utilised in the new thriller. Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga ('Up in the Air'), Jeffrey Wright, Russell Peters, Michael Arden, Cas Anvar and Kyle Allatt all co-star. Check out the poster below....

Watching a movie nominated for a Razzie may be one of the worst ways to spend a few hours, but actually attending the Awards turns out to be one of the best. Last night’s rousing, barb-flinging camp-fest handed Razzie repeat offender M. Night Shyamalan’s critically abhorred The Last Airbender the Worst Picture trophy (the movie led the pack with five “wins,” click here for a complete list of winners). But the actual wins were but a small part of what makes this annual pre-Oscars tradition such a fun, light-hearted pageant.

It's gold prospecting season in Hollywood, and with guilds, globes and bald guys, there are plenty of sought after statuettes for film's biggest stars. Winning any of these awards can take a career to the next level -- all of them, that is, except for one.
Nobody wants a Golden Raspberry.
Given to the worst in Hollywood -- or, the films voters most liked to mock -- the Razzies marked their 31st year of skewering movies on Saturday night. One guy not celebrating? M. Night Shyamalan, whose film "The Last Airbender" was named Worst Picture and given Worst Eye-Gouging Mis-Use of 3D. Not only that, but Shyamalan took home Worst Director and Worst Screenplay.
Ouch. Predictably, Shyamalan wasn't there to bask in the glory of the mockery, and comedian Russell Peters accepted on his behalf.
It was also a rough night to be involved with "Sex and the City 2...
