Most of the major networks are going all out next Saturday to cover the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. A least four networks are broadcasting live that day from Lower Manhattan as commemorative events are held at Ground Zero, the Flight 93 National Memorial and other sites connected with the tragedy.
At Ground Zero, family members will read the names of loved ones they lost in the World Trade Center attack. There will be six moments of silence, acknowledging when each of the towers was struck, when each fell and the times corresponding to the attack on the Pentagon and the crash of Flight 93.
The program will commence at 8:30 a.m. Et, and the first moment of silence will be observed at 8:46 a.m. The commemoration is expected to conclude at about 1 p.m. Then, at sundown, the annual Tribute in Light will illuminate the sky above Ground Zero.

Ahead of September’s 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Turner Sports has backed a commemorative project with a baseball angle.
In collaboration with The Montag Group and Six West Media Group, Turner has greenlit More Than Just a Game: Baseball Remembers 9/11. The feature-length documentary will detail how baseball helped the recovery of both New York and the nation. It will feature the perspectives of players, team executives, first responders, government officials and fans.
While the sport was forced to pause for several days along with the city and most of the country in the attacks’ aftermath, its return generated moments that still resonate two decades later. New York Mets catcher Mike Piazza’s dramatic home run at Shea Stadium and the New York Yankees making a run to the World Series offered hope as the rubble of the Twin Towers still smoldered.

Back in 1951, the New York Yankees were still on top, the Dodgers were in Brooklyn, the Giants roamed New York’s Polo Grounds, and fans could collect the first set of Topps playing cards at one cent for a pack of two.
Needless to say, a lot has changed the past 70 years, all of the above remain woven into the fabric of baseball. And much like last year’s Topps Project 2020, the trading card giant is giving artists the freedom to put their own stamp on traditional trading cards with Project70.
Coinciding with Topps’ anniversary of that first set, Project70 kicked off on Feb. 17. Topps tasked artists with “revisiting and reimagining 70 years of iconic baseball card designs,” according to the project’s microsite. The number of partnered artists increased from the 20 who worked on Project 2020 to an apropos 51, a callback to the year it all began.

ESPN is teaming with Jimmy Kimmel for a multi-part “30 for 30” on the 1986 New York Mets.
Kimmel, an unabashed fan of the Mets, will executive produce the documentary under his Kimmelot production banner, with Sal Iacono (“Cousin Sal”), Scott Lonker, Jordana Hochman and Mlb’s Nick Trotta. Nick Davis will direct.
The multi-part series will feature hours of never-before-seen footage of the ’86 Mets, a team known just as much for its off-field exploits as it was for its on-field dominance. It also came during a unique moment in New York baseball history: When the Mets were arguably more popular than their cross-town rival Yankees, who were in the midst of a dry spell (that would obviously not last long).

Mark-Paul Gosselaar had just finished “Pitch,” Fox’s one-season baseball drama in 2016, when he took the role of Brad Wolgast in the network’s adaptation of “The Passage.” After some behind-the-scenes retooling, which included a restructuring of the pilot script, attaching a different director and some re-shoots, “The Passage” was ordered to series in May 2018 and will premiere Jan. 14, two years after the pilot was ordered.
“I’ve never been a part of something like that in my career,” Gosselaar tells Variety. “Generally if you do a pilot and it’s not working, you move on — and if it is working, you get picked up.”
Gosselaar says he was first attracted to the project in part because of it being a genre show, and “genres are working right now,” but also because of the caliber of people that were already attached, specifically showrunner Liz Heldens, as well as executive producers Ridley Scott and Matt Reeves.

After more than a year on the market with an in-hindsight pie-in-the-sky initial asking price of $10.495 million that incrementally dropped to a still too aggressive $8.995 million, Jeremy Piven has engaged the services of a new, high-profile real estate agent and re-listed his beach front residence in Malibu, Calif., with a once-again reduced price of $8.5 million. The former “Entourage” star, whose CBS series “Wisdom of the Crowd” was cancelled last year during its freshman season amid mounting allegations of sexual assault, which the actor has denied, purchased the 4,404-square-foot, three-story home in 2004 for $3.5 million and the four-bedroom and 3.5-bathroom residence, along one of Malibu’s most sought after streets, according the marketing materials, had also been available in recent years as a furnished short-term rental at prices that fluctuated between $30,000 and $50,000 per month.
