The cause of death has now been revealed for Dax Tejera and, contrary to what ABC News president Kim Godwin said last month, the ABC News producer did not die from a heart attack on Dec. 23.
Et has confirmed that Dax choked to death because he was drunk while out at dinner with his wife and friends at Bobby Van’s Steakhouse. A spokesperson for the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner tells Et that Dax’s official cause of death was “asphyxia due to obstruction of airway by food bolus complicating acute alcohol intoxication.”
The New York Post was first to report the news.
Just last month, Godwin released a statement addressing Dax’s death, which read, “It’s with a heavy heart and great sadness that we share that our friend and colleague, Dax Tejera passed away suddenly of a heart attack last night. As executive...

Spanish-born fashion designer Paco Rabanne, who was best known for his metallic space-age outfits, has died in France at the age of 88 years old.
The self-taught designer broke into the Parisian Haute Couture scene in the early 1960s with a collection composed of 12 unwearable experimental metallic dresses.
His designs soon became favorites with stars and models of the time such as France’s Anouk Aimée, Françoise Hardy, Brigitte Bardot and the U.K.’s Twiggy.
He soon connected with the cinema world, designing the iconic costumes for Jane Fonda in Roger Vadim’s 1968 cult film Barbarella, which are still on display in MoMA in New York.
Other cinema credits included Roberto Enrico’s The Last Adventure and Joël Le Moigné’s Les Ponyettes.
Rabanne also created individual pieces for Jean-Luc Godard’s 1967 drama Two Or Three Things I Know About Her…, Stanley Donen’s Two For The Road and John Huston’s Casino Royale.
Rabanne retired in 1999 but his mothballed label was revived by Spanish company Puig in 2011, which relaunched it as a fashion house and fragrance business that it now controls.
“The House of Paco Rabanne wishes to honour our visionary designer and founder who passed away today at the age of 88,” the company said in a statement posted on its website.

Costume designers can only speculate on what coming intergalactic fashions will look like, but as Star Trek and After Earth demonstrate, the future is nearly always skintight
Recent sci-fi, such as Jj Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness and After Earth (Shyamalan, 2013), are reminders of how film and TV so often depict future fashion as skimpy or skintight. The uniforms in Abrams' Star Trek revival have progressed from previous versions, but retain the hallmarks of the originals. The men's uniforms have a mesh outer layer, reminiscent of moisture-wicking sportswear. The female uniforms are more precise replicas of the originals, with miniskirts and knee-high boots. In After Earth, the stranded father and son are costumed in something reminiscent of an armoured wetsuit. These films are following a tradition established by films such as Logan's Run (1976), Buck Rogers (1979-1981) and Tron (1982), in which costume left little to the imagination.
Historically, fashion has tended towards being increasingly revealing.

Michael Kaplan’s career is one film after another of “wow, he did that?” cinema: Blade Runner, Flashdance, Seven, Fight Club, Burlesque, plus dozens more. Kaplan’s connection to Star Trek began as costume designer on J.J. Abrams’ reboot in 2009, and now he is back for the sequel. Despite admitting he was no expert in the world of Star Trek before signing on, his work on both movies has been praised; particularly the Enterprise crew uniforms (that reoccurring Starfleet pattern is a classy touch).

The 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival wrapped up this weekend, and not a minute too soon. Our brains were starting to feel the fatigue due to the influx of too many premieres and too much fashion. But now that it’s over, we’re feeling a sort of fond affinity to a couple of gowns that stand out in our minds, not because they were best-dressed or worst-dressed, but because we emitted some very loud Wtf’s when we saw them. So, without further ado, and because we like your Wtf’s much better than our own, we’d like to present the top five of this exalted list to you.
1. Diane Kruger: This is Christian Dior Couture, guys. We want it. Even though we’re screaming Wtf, we covet it. Only, Diane, the Victorian Era called. It wants dibs on the bustle next time.

When we arrive at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, there is a huge crowd at passport control. It takes us nearly an hour before we’re through. Above the officers’ stations are nine elegant Mudras, or classical hand gestures that are symbols for Hindu and Buddhist messages, and they hold my gaze for most of the hour.

Thought #1: contact sports have given us an unusual number of fine actors. George C. Scott's nose testified to his travails in the ring, as did John Huston's. France offers Michel Simon, Jean-Paul Belmondo and Italian emigre Lino Ventura. Ventura, a former boxer and wrestler, is perhaps the least celebrated of this triumvirate, but he is beyond great. Initially typed as toughs, understandably given his squat frame and flattened menhir of a nose, he demonstrated such conviction that he could be cast as an art dealer in Montparnasse 19 and as an intellectual freedom fighter in Melville's Army of Shadows. His combination of muscle and brains makes him a perfect choice to play an engineer in—but wait...
Thought #2: It's remarkable how many truly horrible character Alain Delon has played. Impressive that he'd do that—either he's unusually interested in villainy, or directors just see him that way,...

Teddy makes one of his "guest appearances" on tonight's 90210, in what's supposed to involve some kind of mock wedding ceremony thrown by his friends to show their support.
We're curious to see exactly what that means, but no matter the end result, we know that Trevor Donovan will bring his usual sincerity and warmth to the role. He certainly knows how to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
In tribute to Teddy's upcoming ... whatever, we present this chronological pictorial scrapbook, from the moment we first started following Teddy's journey, when an earthquake rocked West Beverly High, to his coming out to his father in the first episode of this season.
Enjoy the pics, but first you can see Trevor give a special video shoutout to Ae readers, and let's also take a moment to wish him a very Happy 33rd Birthday today!

The style spotlight is back on Wallis Simpson, says Imogen Fox, while her biographer, Anne Sebba, explains how important fashion became to the Duchess of Windsor
Fashion is having a Mrs Simpson moment. No, it's not the first time we admit, but the streamlined chic that earned Wallis her style icon stripes completely chimes with the feel of fashion right now. We predict that Wallis 'Get the look!' features are set to spike very soon. Especially since W.E., Madonna's film about the American socialite's life, had its world premiere at the Venice film festival on Thursday. The film stars Andrea Riseborough and from the shots we've seen, the wardrobe looks brilliantly done, no matter what reviews make of scene where Wallis jives with an African tribesman to the Sex Pistols' Pretty Vacant.
Designer Roland Mouret is not shy about admitting his admiration for Wallis's style either. Next Tuesday he will launch a gold,...

That Jason Bateman, in fact, "really longs to direct." (HuffPo)
Ryan Reynolds wears Paco Rabanne cologne; Jason Bateman also used to wear that, as well as Aramis. (Moviefone)
Although Jason Bateman stated with no uncertainty on "The Daily Show" last night that there was "no significant update" on the Arrested Development movie, and even mocked the "fringe media" for making something out of nothing, the CNN Marquee blog led with, "The progress on the rumored 'Arrested Development' movie seems to be coming along slowly, but surely," even though the actual quote from Bateman suggested very little to that effect. (CNN)
During "Arrested Development," Jason Bateman never wore underwear. (Moviefone)

Yes, we know it suggests that mutants saved the world from a nuclear apocalypse in 1962. Stop focusing on the details
X-Men: First Class (2011)
Director: Matthew Vaughn
Entertainment grade: A–
History grade: D+
In the summer of 1962, the Soviets started to build missile sites in Cuba. The Americans found out in October of that year. The discovery led to the Cuban missile crisis – 13 days of tense strategising and negotiations during which the world came horrifyingly close to all-out nuclear war.
Science
The film begins in 1944 in Poland, where a boy with an unusual ability to move metal objects by force of will is under study by an evil Nazi-aligned scientist, Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon). Just to make things clear from the start, superhero mutants are not a historical fact. Still, it's not a documentary. Moreover, Nazi scientists did perform horrible experiments on people they considered to be biologically unusual. The movie's...

Whilst posting today's review of an entry in the Alpha Gods: Betrayal comic series, I noted that Scorpio studios have optioned this racy-looking comic strip, and I can only sigh at the prospect of what will be left of the original's flavour in the event that Alpha Gods should become a movie franchise. I have no feelings one way or the other about Alpha Gods (which I have not read), but a look at some of the panels - and the diminutive wardrobe of its heroines - tells me that any adaptation is likely to head the way of all (bare) flesh - years of development hell, with the only prospect of resolution a dreadfully under-funded straight-to-disc effort or an adaptation that pretty much jettisons the endomorphic ass-kicking heroines that inevitably draw in a 14 year-old male demographic.

Less a costume movie and more a fashion one, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970) is typical of its celebrated naughty director Russ Meyer in all the best possible ways.
Meyer fills the screen with a beautiful cast in cute outfits and expects us to take it all seriously. Thing is, he actually has something serious to say. Emphatically not a sequel to Valley of the Dolls made in 1967 (although that was its original intention), this softcore send-up was filmed soon after the tragic murder of actress Sharon Tate – star of Valley of the Dolls. Here Myer admonishes not only the perils of fame itself, but of believing it.
Bursting with hedonistic fun before a shockingly violent conclusion, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls is simply alive with colourful sixties outfits. Mainly designed by David Hayes (as ‘De Graff of California’), it does help that his ensembles are worn by...

Left, Paco Rabanne's new fragrances, Lady Million and 1 Million. Right, Paco Rabanne. For more than 40 years, designer Paco Rabanne—who Spaniard Salvador Dalí once credited as the only other genius from Spain—has earned international renown for his daring use of unconventional materials, melding metals, meshes, paper, and plastic with high fashion. After studying architecture at l'École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Rabanne started his career in couture in the 1960s by designing bold plastic jewelry and buttons for Givenchy, Dior, and Balenciaga (where his mother was chief seamstress at the Spanish salon). He became known as the enfant terrible in French fashion for his unprecedented eye for structured silhouettes and avant-garde materials.

According to the Daily Mail, a British tabloid, Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet is dating a handsome male model. If this is true, all the Dish Rag can add is "Good on you, Girl!" Way to rebound well from the recent split from your stuffy director hubby Sam Mendes.
She and Louis Dowler -- who has modeled (he's with Select Models) for Burberry, Paul Smith and Paco Rabanne, and is the same age as Kate -- reportedly met through friends. Word is that they are dating and trying to keep the new relationship under wraps.
But they were together in New York recently, where he was shooting a fashion campaign and where she is shooting an HBO miniseries version of the Joan Crawford film "Mildred Pierce." The mini-series also stars Evan Rachel Wood, Melissa Leo and Guy Pearce and is being directed by Todd Haynes.
Meanwhile, Mendes, 44, is rumored to be seeing Rebecca Hall,...

I say this every year, but I have high hopes for this season of Project Runway.
Maybe.
Last year I had high hopes, but aside from Ping's meltdowns, Anthony's exuberance, and Jesse's hotness, the season was pretty much a bust (although I am glad that Seth Aaron beat the arrogant Emilio for the championship).
This season could turn out to be interesting, though. When the show returns on Thursday, July 29th at 9Pm Est on Lifetime, it will now be 90 minutes long, which may increase the drama, and give us more insight into the creative process. Along with Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia will be returning, and hopefully they'll include some eclectic guest judges. My favorite last season? Milla Jovovich.
Best of all, of the nine male designers competing this season, seven are part of "Team Gay," which is the most for any season of Project Runway.
Maybe.

It's very small, tidy and reeks of Paco Rabanne. No, it's not Ryan Seacrest, it's your very own Condensed Soup. Here goes... On to the world of Real Chance of Love—which offers anything but—and an excellent opportunity to observe sexy Aloha bidding adieu to her composure. Jeez, these women really take this seriously. Did someone mention European junk grooming? Yes, it was a guy on Speeders, whose life plans include becoming a buff, well-shaved nurse overseas. Which sounds a lot more fun than watching Wendy Williams, unless she's completely embarrassing herself. Hey, guess what? She is! And there's plenty more where this came from on a spanking new Soup, tonight at 10...
