After attending the University of Iowa, Raskin moved to Los Angeles and started at CBS as a typist, one of the few jobs open to women who were just beginners in the television industry. She co-produced all three of Frank Sinatra's 1960's television specials and became associate producer and finally co-producer of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In.
