“Flight Risk” is scheduled to debut on the big screen alongside Paramount’s “Smile 2.” In “Flight Risk,” Wahlberg plays a balding and psychotic mob hitman who tricks a federal agent into allowing him to pilot a plane carrying an informant (Topher Grace) out of a remote area. Good news for exhibition as Lionsgate is delivering two big releases this fall: The Dave Bautista action pic The Killer’s Game on Sept. 13 and the Mel Gibson directed Mark Wahlberg movie Flight Risk for Oct. 18. Again, we can’t be without film product in a marketplace that’s starving for volume.
Meanwhile the Gerard Butler sequel Den of Thieves: Pantera will hit cinemas on Jan. 10, 2025; that title arriving to Lionsgate through its eOne acquistion.
The JJ Perry directed The Killer’s Game, based on the book by Jay R. Bonansinga and adapted by Rand Ravich and James Coyne, follows a top hitman, Joe Flood (Bautista) who is diagnosed with a terminal illness. He opts to take matters into his own hands – by taking a hit out on himself. But when the very hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella), he must fend off an army of assassin colleagues and...

Terry Crews is a serial entertainer. The energetic actor has a muscular physique that action icons Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger were impressed with when they worked with him on The Expendables franchise. However, despite the hulking image, Crews would not limit himself to action movies as he would use his charismatic charm for such sitcoms like Everybody Hates Chris and Are We There Yet?, as well as being the host for the reality competition, America’s Got Talent. Crews is now ready to throw some fists and let the bullets fly yet again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Crews will be seen in an upcoming action-comedy that will co-star the equally charismatic muscleman, Dave Bautista. Crews and Bautista have recently wrapped filming on The Killer’s Game.

Terry Crews will be playing The Killer’s Game.
The actor will be seen alongside Dave Bautista, Ben Kingsley and Sofia Boutella in the J.J. Perry-directed movie, which has wrapped filming. Crews will be playing a character that was previously reported to be played by Ice Cube.
Based on Jay Bonansinga’s novel, The Killer’s Game follows a veteran assassin (Bautista), who, according to the film’s synopsis, “is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and authorizes a hit on himself to avoid the pain that is destined to follow. But soon after, he finds out that he was misdiagnosed— and must fend off an army of former colleagues trying to kill him.”
Rand Ravich and James Coyne penned the screenplay. Mad Chance’s Andrew Lazar and Endurance Media’s Steve Richards are producers, along with Kia Jam. Bautista and Jonathan Meisner will executive produce for Dogbone Entertainment, with Scott Lambert also exec producing.

"Demimonde" was slated to be the first sci-fi series written by J.J. Abrams since "Fringe" debuted on Fox in 2008, but thanks to HBO, there's been a change of plans. The series has been in the works since 2018, and it had a straight-to-series order with Danielle Deadwyler set to star, Abrams set to write, and Rand Ravich and Far Shariat acting as showrunners. But production took a turn late last month, when Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav took a second look at the series' progress.

HBO is officially not moving forward with J.J. Abrams’ ambitious HBO sci-fi drama series Demimonde. The decision comes after weeks of discussions with Abrams, his Bad Robot production company and Warner Bros. Television which were focused on the show’s budget. As Deadline reported last month, the studios on the project, Warner Bros. Television and HBO, had been trying to rein in costs, but Bad Robot kept firm on their proposed budget, said to be in the mid-200 million range, and would not agree to a reduction.
The final stages of the Demimonde conversations were held against the background of a larger reevaluation of the massive deal Abrams’ Bad Robot has at Warner Bros for film, TV, gaming and digital content as the new Warner Bros. Discovery is scrutinizing every aspect of the assets they took over when the merger was completed in April.

J.J. Abrams’ science fiction drama series “Demimonde” will no longer move forward at HBO.
This is the end of a long road for the project, which was ordered to series at HBO in Feb. 2018 after a bidding war with Apple. The series order came over a year before Abrams and his wife Katie McGrath first set a major overall deal for their production company Bad Robot at WarnerMedia.
Rumored to have an impressively high budget, “Demimonde” looked to be a major project until recently. In 2020, “The Handmaid’s Tale” executive producer Kira Snyder and “Life” executive producers Rand Ravich and Far Shariat were set as showrunners, and casting announcements were underway as recently as April 2022, when Danielle Deadwyler was learned to be leading the series.

J.J. Abrams has tapped a trio of showrunners to head “Demimonde,” his mysterious sci-fi drama at HBO, Variety has confirmed.
“The Handmaid’s Tale” executive producer Kira Snyder, and “Life” duo Rand Ravich and Far Shariat have been chosen to co-showrun the project.
Plot details for “Demimonde,” which was the subject of a bidding war between HBO and Apple, are still being kept under tight wraps, but the series is described as an epic and intimate sci-fi fantasy drama that deals with a world’s battle against a monstrous, oppressive force, exploring the lengths a family will go to find their missing child. Abrams will write and executive produce, with Ben Stephenson–head of television for Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions–also serving as an executive producer.

Warner Bros is pressing ahead with The Twilight Zone film, and a new writer has been hired...
Warner Bros. is unlocking the door with the key of imagination to the new The Twilight Zone movie. The studio announced that Christine Lavaf is on board to write the screenplay for the film.
Lavaf was one of the writers for Godzilla 2. She was an assistant to the showrunner on Fringe. Furthermore, last year she sold three original spec pilots including Netflix’s science fiction drama I’Human.
Warner Bros has been working on the new movie version of The Twilight Zone since 2009. Rand Ravich, Joby Harold, Anthony Peckham and Eli Coleite - who wrote episodes of the TV shows The River, Heroes and Crossing Jordan as well as The End - have all had a shot at writing the script. In 2013 it was announced that Joseph Kosinski, who directed Oblivion, would helm the film.
The first film version of Twilight Zone came out in 1983. It had four segments, each with a different director. The new movie will follow just one story that has various elements of The Twilight Zone universe.
The Twilight Zone was originally created and hosted by Rod Serling, who also created Night Gallery and wrote the screenplay for the classic fight film Requiem For A Heavyweight. The series ran on CBS from 1959 to 1964. Serling wrote or co-wrote 92 of the 156 episodes that aired and delivered the iconic opening and closing monologues.
The Twilight Zone movie is in the hands of Leonardo DiCaprio’s production house, Appian Way, along with his partner Jennifer Davisson and Michael Ireland. Sarah Schechter is overseeing the project for the studio.

What would you do if you were offered a second chance at life? Are certain individuals capable of ever making their wrongs right? Created by Rand Ravich, Fox's upcoming science fiction drama "Second Chance" explores these questions. The new series focuses on Jimmy Pritchard, a corrupt cop given a chance to redeem himself when two tech billionaires (Adhir Kalyan and Dilshad Vadsaria) embark on a mission to bring the 70-something old man, played by Philip Baker Hall, back to life as a younger man (played by Robert Kazinsky). Co-stars Adhir Kalyan, Vanessa Lengies, Ciara Bravo, Dilshad Vadsaria and Tim Dekay share their regrets and what they would do differently if given a second chance, which range from things like attending a Green Day concert instead of a soccer game, and regretfully wishing they could have videotaped their wedding. Watch the short clip and see what the cast would do differently in their own lives.

Rob Kazinsky has certainly come a long way since his days on the much parodied, long-running UK soap opera, EastEnders. After several years spent playing supporting characters in notable projects, such as True Blood, Pacific Rim and Hot Pursuit, he has finally landed his first leading role – in a brand new sci-fi/drama series for Fox, titled Second Chance.
The premise of the show is something of a mixture of classic sci-fi themes, police procedurals, and family drama. The elderly Jimmy Pritchard is a retired, disgraced La county sheriff, renowned for corruption. Despised by his family, he is murdered during a break-in at the home of his son – but two “tech billionaires” resurrect him as one of their science projects. They find that, in returning, he is much younger and has strength and stamina five times greater than that of the average adult male. This realization leads to the idea...

With the 2014-2015 television season winding down, many television fans and channels are looking ahead to the new series that will make their debut over the next television season. Fox is no different, having announced their renewals, cancellations, and new series pickups over the last week, and the network has now released trailers for a number of their new series.
First up is the trailer for the new animated series Bordertown.
From Family Guy’s Mark Hentemann comes Bordertown, a new animated comedy about two families living in a Southwest desert town on the U.S. – Mexico border. The series takes a satirical look at the cultural shifts occurring in America, where the U.S. Census forecasts that by 2017, ethnic minorities will become the majority. Set against this increasingly diverse backdrop, the comedy explores family, politics and everything in between with a cross-cultural wink. Bordertown centers on two clans: the Buckwalds and the Gonzalezes.

Update (via Deadline): Fox has added drama The Frankenstein Code, formerly known as Frankenstein, to its fall lineup. The series, executive-produced by The X-Files‘ Howard Gordon, centers on Jimmy Pritchard (Rob Kazinsky), a morally corrupt retired cop given a second chance at life when he is brought back from the dead. Now younger and stronger, Pritchard will have to choose between his old temptations and his new sense of purpose, according to Fox’s press release.
While inspired by Mary Shelley’s novel, the show is obviously not a straight adaptation. It’s written and created by Rand Ravich (Crisis) and also boasts Homeland helmer Michael Cuesta as an exec-producer and director on the pilot.
Orders for a Minority Report series and drama Lucifer are expected soon.
Original: With Fox’s upfront presentation scheduled for May 11, the network has kicked off series commitments with orders for one drama and three comedies.
