Theresa Rebeck was born on February 19, 1958 in Kenwood, Hamilton, Ohio, USA. She is a writer and producer, known for Smash (2012), The 355 (2022) and NYPD Blue (1993). She is married to Jess Lynn. They have two children.
Nominated for the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for the play, "Omnium Gatherum", collaborating with Alexandra Gersten (aka Alexandra Gersten-Vassilaros).
In 2014 joined the faculty of the University of Houston School of Theatre and Dance as a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Playwriting.[.
Has a BA from the University of Notre Dame.
Earned three advanced degrees from Brandeis University: an MA in English 1983, a M.F.A. in Playwriting in 1986, and a Ph.D. in Victorian era melodrama, awarded in 1989.
Graduated from Ursuline Academy Cincinnati, Ohio in 1976.
