Former Newcastle United and Marseille winger Chris Waddle believes the French contingent already on Tyneside can help the Magpies’ latest signing Florian Thauvin “settle in” quickly.
Thauvin completed his £14 million move from Marseille on Wednesday – with Remy Cabella heading in the opposite direction on a one-year loan that will likely turn into a permanent deal – and the French winger has signed a five-year contract with the Magpies.
And, although Waddle fears that Thauvin will struggle to get used to the dramatic weather conditions in the North East of England, he believes the likes of Moussa Sissoko and Yoan Gouffran can help the Frenchman to comes to terms with life in Newcastle.

Speaking to The Chronicle, Waddle said of Thauvin:
“He’s (Thauvin’s) been used to training in the late-20s and early-30s (degrees Celsius) in the last few months.

Florian Thauvin can use Newcastle United as a “good stepping stone” in order to “fulfil his potential” and move on to one of Europe’s biggest clubs, believes former Marseille and Magpies winger Chris Waddle.
Newcastle completed a £14 million move for Thauvin on Wednesday – with Remy Cabella heading in the opposite direction on a one-year loan that will likely turn into a permanent deal – and the French winger has signed a five-year contract with the Magpies.
But Waddle does not expect Thauvin to remain on Tyneside for long – should he manage to finally turn his undoubted potential into a finished product.

The 22-year-old shot on to the scene with a wonder season for Bastia, in which he helped the Corsican side to the Ligue 2 title in 2011-12, but Thauvin’s career has stalled somewhat after a disappointing last 12-18 months with Marseille.

From Amy Acker to James Frain, we celebrate Grimm’s habit of filling its supporting cast with geek favourites…
Read our look-back at the careers of Grimm co-creators David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, here.
When Grimm’s makers were looking for their Nick Burkhardt, the job was to cast someone with all the requirements of a leading man, but none of the distracting ‘wasn’t he in that other thing?’ baggage. In David Giuntoli, whose TV appearances had until then largely been confined to one-off roles in comedies and dramas including Grey’s Anatomy and Ghost Whisperer (the latter produced, not at all coincidentally, by Grimm co-creator Jim Kouf), they found their guy.
With Giuntoli in place, and a solid cast of regulars around him including Silas Weir Mitchell, Sasha Roiz, Russell Hornsby, Reggie Lee and Claire Coffee, it was time to fill in the guest roles.

"Grimm" comes back with its third season tonight (Oct. 25). But though this premiere, "The Ungrateful Dead," will begin to resolve the zombie storyline that began at the end of Season 2, it's only the tip of the iceberg for what's in store in Season 3.
Zap2it sat down at a luncheon with star David Giuntoli and showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, who teased some exciting stories and plot developments for the upcoming season. According to them, several relationships get more complicated and quite a few new Wesen will be introduced. Check out these 10 spoilers from Season 3 below.
Sergeant Wu won't find out Nick is a Grimm ... yet. "Sergeant Wu is going to have a very tumultuous episode in which he's going to see some things that can't be explained, but I think we have enough people knowing for the time being," Greenwalt teases.
James Frain's Eric Renard is going away for the time being.

Angel alum Alexis Denisof is getting back into the supernatural business.
EW has confirmed the actor will appear on the upcoming third season of NBC’s Grimm. He will play a character named Viktor Albert Wilhelm George Beckendorf, a cunning man who also happens to be first cousin of Eric Renard (James Frain). (As you’ll recall, Eric and Sasha Roiz’s Sean Renard are only half-brothers.)
The role reunites Denisof, currently a recurring player on How I Met Your Mother (on which his wife Alyson Hannigan stars), with Angel co-creator David Greenwalt, who also co-created Grimm with Jim Kouf.

"Grimm" has ended its second season with quite the cliffhanger in its finale, "Goodnight, Sweet Grimm": Nick (David Giuntoli) is captured by Eric Renard (James Frain) and Baron Samedi and is beginning his transformation into one of the Cracher-Mortel's zombie creatures, and Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), Rosalee (Bree Turner) and Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) are left surrounded by enemies with escape looking less and less likely. But "Grimm" wouldn't be doing its job if it didn't leave us wanting more, and now we know a lot of big storylines that are set up for the series' return in the fall on Fridays at 9 p.m.
At least Juliette and Nick finally completely reunite in the Season 2 finale. After a season of being apart, Juliette is taking to having her memories return and learning about the Wesen world surprisingly well. She has Nick over for dinner where they make up in more ways than one,...

Spoiler Alert: Don’t read on unless you want to know what happened in tonight’s Grimm finale.
Grimm’s first season closed with Juliette in a coma, and in tonight’s season 2 finale, it was Nick’s turn to be in a rather inert state at the hands of a Wesen.
When Baron Samedi unleashes his collection of zombified victims onto Nick and Co. at the container yard, Nick gets separated from the others, which turns out to be just what Eric Renard wants. The Baron spits his infectious green slime in Nick’s face, and next thing we know,...

It remains to be seen how Nick, Monroe and Rosalee will end up resolving the zombie problem in Portland in "Grimm's" Season 2 finale, especially since it was revealed that Eric Renard is working with Baron Samedi. But there's more at play in "Goodnight, Sweet Grimm" than meets the eye.
Zap2it had the chance to check out tonight's episode ahead of time and can tease that there are some big surprises in store in "Goodnight, Sweet Grim." In anticipation of the big Season 2 finale, here are five teases from the upcoming episode.
1. The magic behind the zombies is revealed... And it turns out that the zombies aren't quite as undead as they at first seem. That must have been what leading man David Giuntoli meant when he said, " "We deal with the undead in a way that's never been approached before in very typical 'Grimm' fashion."
2. Someone will get bit by a zombie.

Former Tudor and True Blood James Frain has been tabbed for Grimm season 2. The buzz flow for the first season of NBC’s Grimm felt like it was building as the season went along and all the way to the finale. Personally, while interested in the show before it was released, I burned out after a few episodes because I felt like the show’s lead, David Giuntoli, felt remarkably absent in the role making the show feel like an ensemble, except there wasn’t or shouldn’t be one: he is the Grimm.
Still, the show did well enough for NBC, and did so admirably in what is traditionally viewed as a real shitty scheduling slot, and garnered a second season pick-up back in March. According to Zap2it Frain has been cast in a recurring role of Eric Renard, the brother of Sasha Roiz’s Captain Sean Renard.

Grimm became a pretty solid piece of entertainment by the end of season one, and so far, season two looks even more promising. NBC Universal has divulged that James Frain (True Blood, Count Of Monte Cristo) has been cast as the mysterious Captain Renard’s brother, Eric Renard, in a reoccurring role that puts Nick in the cross hairs, as per usual. While we’ve had no confirmation if the Captain is a Wesen or not, if you’re hiring Frain, he’s gotta be one, right? He’d be perfect as a Blutbad, or a Fuchsbau, or a Schakal, or some sort of snake-y reptilian Wesen. Frain was creepy awesome on True Blood and is a great hire as a villain and anything that might bring more information on Renard, is good news.

The first bit of casting news for Season 2 of NBC's "Grimm" is here, and it's pretty damned perfect if we do say so ourselves. Read on for all the latest concerning the Peacock's horror offering which happens to be a lot better than you'd expect!
ZAP2it reports that James Frain (pictured right; "True Blood") has been cast as the brother of Captain Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz) on the spooky procedural. Frain will play Eric Renard in what's being described as a recurring guest star. The character, who doesn't have the greatest relationship with his brother, comes to Portland after a very bad creature makes its way into town. Needless to say, Eric has his own plans, and it looks like Nick (David Giuntoli) is the target.

"Grimm" ended its first season with quite the bang. In what could easily be described as the worst day of his life, Nick has to explain to Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) his real history. At the same time, his mom, played by Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, makes an unexpected return.
