John Cena and Alison Brie get caught in the middle of political unrest in the first trailer for the forthcoming action-comedy movie Freelance.
The Relativity Media film from director Pierre Morel (Taken) hits theaters Oct. 6. It centers on a Special Forces operator (Cena) resurfacing from retirement to escort a journalist (Alison Brie) to interview the dictator of a foreign country, which is embroiled in a dangerous coup that begins shortly after their arrival.
During the trailer, Brie tells Cena, “I’m with the president of a country in the middle of a coup. This is the scoop of a lifetime.” He bluntly responds, “You gotta be alive to have the scoop of a lifetime.”
Later, after they find themselves fleeing from peril, Cena asks, “Are you still excited to cover a coup?” Brie understatedly replies, “Less and less, honestly.”

Tim Robbins thought he’d come up with a timely idea for a new comedy.
The subject of his new satire would be an unhinged billionaire-turned-president who uses the Oval Office to sow racism and division. Robbins’ film would focus on his struggles to maintain his grip on power during a tumultuous year in which he faces an uphill climb to re-election. Parallels to Donald J. Trump are obvious and intended, Robbins says.
“It’s definitely Trump,” he told Variety. “But it’s the Trump behind the scenes — the one from the unsourced reports of him belittling aides and behaving in an even more narcissistic fashion.”
Initially, Robbins reached out to “The Big Short” writer and director Adam McKay about lining up financing for the feature film. But the pandemic upended those plans, making it nearly impossible to secure backing and complete the film by Election Day on Nov. 4. That...

Stars: Chase Williamson, Lauren Ashley Carter, Jerry G. Angelo, Matt Mercer, Gavin White, David Robbins, William Ward, Kari White, Keefe Stone, Chris Tapia | Written and Directed by Tom Botchii
The titular Artik (Jerry G. Angelo) is a comic book obsessed serial killer who spends his days sketching and his nights teaching his son Adam how to get away with murder, literally, until the boy befriends a mysterious man, Holton (Chase Williamson), who threatens to expose their horrifying family secret.
I’m not going to lie. There’s no way these days that I can give Any film starring Chase Williamson an unbiased review… The actor has been a solid performer for years, appearing in a myriad of genre films, including two of my favourite modern horrors: Sequence Break and John Dies at the End. As such I find myself enjoying films on his performance alone – and Artik is no different.

"I've always found myself gravitating towards chaos." Epic Pictures + Dread have unveiled the first official trailer for a new serial killer thriller titled Artik, which just premiered at the Popcorn Frights Film Fest in Florida. This indie film is a "shockingly violent and very engaging" serial killer horror about a comic book obsessed murderer who teaches his son how to get away with all the killings. That is, until he befriends a mysterious man who threatens to expose everything. Chase Williamson stars as Holton Shudcase, with Jerry G. Angelo as "Artik", plus a small cast including Lauren Ashley Carter, Matt Mercer, David Robbins, and Gavin White. This definitely looks like it's only for die-hard horror fans who can stomach this kind of violence. Featuring a very colorful poster by artist Christopher Shy - which you can see below. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Tom Botchii's Artik, direct from...

A U.S Bankruptcy Court has approved the sale of Relativity Media to UltraV Holdings, marking another new beginning for the independent studio as it emerges from its second bankruptcy in three years.
Relativity resolved a long-running dispute with Netflix over a lucrative licensing contract earlier this month, clearing the way for the sale. It also reached an agreement with its unsecured creditors, removing another significant obstacle to the planned sale.
“Court approval of the sale today ends four difficult years for Relativity and marks a new beginning for the company,” said Colin Adams, Relativity’s chief restructuring officer. “Relativity’s administrative and priority creditors will be paid in full and unsecured creditors, including creditors from prior cases, will see meaningful recoveries, funded in part by the company’s successful partnership with Netflix.”

A judge on Thursday approved the sale of Relativity Media to UltraV Holdings, an investor group that is seeking a fresh start for the twice-bankrupt studio.
Relativity declared bankruptcy in May as it sought to shed debt in advance of a sale to UltraV, its largest secured creditor. UltraV held $73 million of Relativity’s secured debt, of which it bid $40 million to acquire the company. No other bidders came forward to challenge the sale.
The court approval follows settlements with Netflix and the committee of unsecured creditors, both of which had raised objections earlier in the process.

Despite an attempted rebound, Relativity Media is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy again.
The studio filed in U.S. bankruptcy court on Thursday after announcing that it’s entered an agreement with UltraV Holdings — a joint venture of funds managed by Sound Point Capital Management and Rmrm Holdings — to sell the firm all of its assets.
Relativity founder Ryan Kavanaugh said in a statement that the company “faced the significant challenge of a complicated capital structure and an evolving industry.”
The cost of the acquisition wasn’t announced, but the sale isn’t a done deal yet.

Sound Point Capital Management, one half of the UltraV joint venture, is a New York-based asset management firm with approximately $17 billion of assets under management. And partnering firm Rmrm is led by David Robbins, former Chairman of Bally Technologies, veteran media industry advisor Lex Miron, and Larry Robbins, a seasoned media industry executive.
“We are very excited to acquire the assets of Relativity Media, and we believe there are numerous opportunities to reinvigorate and expand the business,” Miron said in a statement. “We have a strong development slate and are looking forward to bringing these films to audiences through our distribution partnerships, including through our agreement with Netflix. We are committed to putting the necessary resources into the business so that we can attract and retain new talent, create outstanding original film, television and digital content and distribute that content across multiple platforms.”
UltraV and Relativity hope to have the deal finalized within 45-to-60 days, but they will have to wait for approval from the bankruptcy court.

The court will have to go through the standard bankruptcy processes and, if other potential buyers come forward, hold an auction.
In its filing with the court, Relativity said it had somewhere between $500 million and $1 billion in debt, compared with $10 million-to-$50 million in assets.
If UltraV secures the acquisition for Relativity it said it intends to provide enough capital for Relativity to resume its operations and continue to development projects and distribute them through existing and future platforms, including Netflix, with which the companies said Relativity still has a distribution agreement.
That output deal is over at the end of 2018.

“Our simple message to the industry is that Relativity Media is open for business and we look forward to demonstrating that we intend to operate a substantial and well financed entertainment company with strong and stable leadership,” Robbins. “We recognize that Relativity Media has had its fair share of challenges during the past several years, and that we need to rebuild trust and confidence in the business. It is our full intention and commitment to put those past chapters behind us and resume the business of creating and distributing outstanding content. We are confident that we have the collective industry expertise, relationships and, perhaps most importantly, the financial resources to fulfill that commitment and build a successful and sustainable business.
“UltraV will now be focused on completing the sale process as expeditiously as possible and ensuring that once the transaction is finalized Relativity Media can hit the ground running with appropriate financial backing and a strong leadership team,” Robbins continued.

On its simplest level Cindy Meehl’s documentary Buck tells the story of the cowboy Buck Brannaman, a horseman who travels the United States conducting clinics for “horses with people problems.” First-time director Cindy Meehl met Buck at one of his clinics, and wanted to share his wisdom with a wider circle than the ardent fans he’s built among “horse people.”
A wise cowboy, eh? It doesn’t help that the film opens with iconographic Western shots: a cattle herd, a yellow sun, and galloping cowboys, all underlined by David Robbins’ thrumming score. Chicago – Has television become so repetitive that it copies itself only four months after the fact? Of course, TV Land’s “Retired at 35,” a new hump day companion for the network’s hit “Hot in Cleveland,” must have been in some sort of production before CBS’s “Sh*t My Dad Says” but they are so similar that one could be forgiven for mistaking the two. And the bigger problem is that neither of them are all that funny.
Television Rating: 2.0/5.0
As they did with the successful “Hot in Cleveland,” TV Land are once again trying to recreate a nostalgic, punchline & laugh track-driven form of situation comedy. And they’re doing it with at least one star of a previous success — George Segal of “Just Shoot Me.” The great Jessica Walter (“Arrested Development,” “Archer”) also appears in the pilot to steal a few scenes before moving on to something better.
