A man set himself on fire outside the courthouse where the jurors are being chosen for former president Donald Trump’s hush money criminal trial. CNN’s chief legal analyst Laura Coates and MSNBC national correspondent Yasmin Vossoughian both witnessed the self-immolation and spoke about the incident live on air.
“I just have to tell you, I have been a student of history for a long time. I cannot overstate the emotional response of watching a human being engulfed in flames and to watch his body be lifted on a gurney,” Coates said on air. “Here we are, knowing that we’re here to document history, but to know about what has just taken place — what an emotional and unbelievably disturbing moment here in Manhattan.”

Up until 2014, the public at large didn't know about the extent of sexual crimes committed by comedian and TV star Bill Cosby. Since 2014, over 60 women have come forward with allegations of sexual assault, some of which stretch back to the 1960s. The many, many details of Cosby's assaults, cover-ups, and other crimes have been openly detailed in the news, and in the 2022 documentary series "We Need to Talk About Cosby."
Cosby's crimes make discussions of the hit series "The Cosby Show" a little fraught. Because the stories of sexual assault hadn't been made public yet, Cosby was easily accepted by mainstream sitcom viewers as a kindly, father-like figure: a perfectly put-upon patriarch of a modern, wealthy Black family. "The Cosby Show" was instantly successful and widely beloved when it debuted in 1984, and it lasted eight seasons and 201 episodes. Everyone watched it. Sad news today as it’s been announced that Richard Moll, who played Aristotle Nostradamus “Bull” Shannon on all nine seasons of Night Court, has died at the age of 80. His publicist confirmed that he died at his home in Big Bear Lake on Thursday.
Although Richard Moll is best known for his work on Night Court, he had quite a sprawling filmography. He made appearances in movies such as Cavemen, Evilspeak, The Sword and the Sorcerer, The Dungeonmaster, Night Train to Terror, House, Wicked Stepmother, Sidekicks, Loaded Weapon 1, The Flintstones, Jingle All the Way, Scary Movie 2, and more. He was also featured in episodes of Happy Days, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Laverne & Shirley, Mork & Mindy, T.J. NBC took a big swing in 2023 in not only reviving Night Court but in bringing it back with the aim of returning to the classic sitcom style.
Seriously, how long has it been since we've heard a proper laugh track? An entire generation of TV viewers has never experienced the joy of a well-timed pratfall shared with a hundred faceless "live studio audience" members. It's a darned shame, it is.
That big swing connected with audiences and ratings, and NBC renewed the fledgling series a scant few weeks after its premiere in January. But with that jaw-dropping, game-changer finale, where will they go with Season 2?
Warning: Spoilers ahead for Night Court Season 1 Episode 16.
With the universal agreement that John Laroquette is the comedic foundation upon which the revival is built, it came as a shock on the finale when he follows through on his intention to leave Manhattan for a judgeship in Louisiana.

Spoiler Alert: The following story reveals major plot points from tonight’s Season 1 finale of NBC’s Night Court.
NBC’s Night Court wrapped up its freshman season on Tuesday night with a bang!
It’s been more than three decades since the comedy series Night Court wrapped up its ninth and final season and thanks to the revival of the same name, fans reconnected with one of the original characters—a bailiff.
In the final beats of the episode titled “The Honorable Dan Fielding, Part 2,” court is in session with Judge Fielding (John Larroquette) presiding over a new case involving a fight that went down at a Bachelorette party in the French Quarter.
His bailiff calls for the bride-to-be to enter court and when he sees her, he is in utter shock and dismay.
“Roz?” he said with his mouth agape.

Night Court is back on NBC, but the only reason the new-boot could happen was because people loved the original series. Night Court ran for nine seasons from 1984 – 1992, so if you haven’t seen the original yet, it is streaming on Freevee. If you have exhausted all nine seasons plus the new one, don’t worry. Showbiz Cheat Sheet is here to recommend six other shows you might also like if you liked Night Court.

In the ’90s, NBC was the home of “Must See TV.” But before the heyday of Seinfeld, Friends, and Frasier, the network had a hit comedy in Night Court. The 1984 sitcom featured an ensemble cast of characters working the night shift at Manhattan Criminal Court. With the 2023 reboot now on NBC and Peacock, it’s the perfect time to look back at which original Night Court cast members are still alive.

Night Court followed various characters throughout its nine-season run. But throughout, Harry Anderson’s Judge Harold “Harry” T. Stone remained the anchor keeping the comedy on course. As the youngest serving judge, Harry is an idealist, amateur magician, and Mel Tormé enthusiast determined to make the most of his less-than-popular post in night court.

Nobody saw the success of NBC‘s 2023 Night Court reboot coming – not even the folks involved with the creation of the show.
“I was a combination of absolute stunned and unbelievably thrilled,” Warner Bros. Television chairman Channing Dungey told The New York Times of seeing the show’s ratings.
To be fair to Dungey, the show’s ratings really are stunning. Per that same Nyt article, the first three episodes of Night Court achieved the highest ratings of any network comedy in the past four years, averaging 6.6 million viewers per episode. Additionally, the series’ first episode has drawn in more than 16 million viewers altogether when delayed and streaming views are taken into account. The show’s success was overwhelming enough that NBC has already ordered a second season.

“Night Court” is going back into session — again. The NBC sitcom, and sequel to the popular ’80s series of the same name, has been renewed for a second season at the network.
The news comes shortly after the series premiered to a surprisingly sizable audience on January 17. The first season has thus far aired four episodes of 13 episodes; the fifth scheduled for February 7.
“It’s so rewarding to have audiences respond and return to a show in which they have such incredibly warm feelings, and, more broadly, it’s testament to how broadcast is still a huge driver of communal viewing,” Lisa Katz, president of Scripted Content at NBCUniversal Television, said in a statement on Thursday. “A huge thank you to our studio partners, a wonderful cast, incredibly talented writers and producers, and a crew that has transformed a lower Manhattan courtroom into a true family.”

Night Court — Pictured: John Larroquette as Dan Fielding — (Photo by: Jordin Althaus/NBC/Warner Bros. Television) John Larroquette is reprising his best-known role by once again playing Dan Fielding on the newly revived Night Court. He was there for all nine seasons of the show’s original run, and he’s back on the new version in a new capacity — instead of being a prosecutor, Fielding is now a public defender. Of course, he’s now surrounded by a new cast of characters, led by The Big Bang Theory’s Melissa Rauch, who spearheaded (and produces) the show’s revival, and he’s enjoying that. But he told us it’s also a bittersweet experience, since he’s lost three of his original co-stars among them — Harry Anderson, Markie Post, and Charles Robinson — within the last five years. After a three-decade recess, “Night Court” is back in session. Just like “Murphy Brown,” “Roseanne” and several other late 20th century sitcoms before it, the NBC show has been revived on its original network in the hope that it will regain old fans and attract new ones. Despite its modern touches and near-total cast overhaul, the rebooted series sticks closely to the same formula that made its Emmy-winning predecessor popular among its ‘80s and ‘90s viewers. Since the new creative team’s collective wealth of broadcast TV experience derives from such hits as “The Big Bang Theory” and “How I Met Your Mother,” they should have no trouble pleading their case to a contemporary audience.
Between 1985 and 1988, “Night Court” supporting cast member John Larroquette made history as the first person to win four consecutive acting Emmys for a single series, and he still holds the male record in that respect.

Thirty years after “Night Court” came to a decidedly dissatisfying conclusion following nine seasons, NBC is returning to the scene of the crime and punishment. A sequel rather than a reboot, the new series features Judge Abby Stone — daughter of the zany but popular Judge Harry Stone (the late Harry Anderson), who anchored the original sitcom — wielding the gavel. She’s as bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as he was, though not as deft a magician; during one trick, she gets a Constitution stuck in her bra.

Plot: The eternally optimistic Abby Stone follows in the footsteps of her revered late father, Judge Harry Stone, as she takes on the challenge of overseeing the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court.
Review: NBC’s Night Court is the latest classic series getting the revival treatment. While we have recently been critical of many reboots, many of us at JoBlo.com are excited for this one, as the original Night Court holds a special place in our hearts. Initially running for nine seasons starting in 1984, Night Court boasted an excellent ensemble cast, including the late Harry Anderson and the late Markie Post. Revivals can be tricky, especially with multi-camera sitcoms, which look somewhat dated these days. Thankfully, I am happy to report that the new Night Court is a satisfying successor to the original comedy and boasts a bunch of new faces alongside returning star of the original, John Larroquette.

“Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” alum Kapil Talwalkar has joined the “Charmed” reboot’s fourth season on The CW. The Indian American actor, who played Tobin in the NBC musical dramedy and its follow-up special “Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas” for Roku, has been cast in a recurring role as Dev. The character is described as a handsome, intense and charming “Gandharva,” a magical creature with the power to influence people with his voice.
Showrunners Jeffrey Lieber, Joey Falco and Nicki Renna, all of whom have been involved with the show since its sophomore season, return for the new season. The cast includes returning cast members Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery, Rupert Evans and Jordan Donica. In addition, Lucy Barrett was recently cast as the new “Charmed One.”
Talwalker’s character is based on a mythical and celestial being in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. Male Gandharvas are divine singers and females are divine dancers from the Gandhara region.

There have been plenty of horror films set in the Old West and the Old South, as well as eras of religious inquisition in the Old World. “The Last Thing Mary Saw” goes where relatively few have gone before, however, by taking place in the still-new United States’ “civilized” rural East, where an industrial age had yet to penetrate and mores remained none too distant from the earliest European settlers’ harsh Puritanism.
Most obviously comparable would be 2015’s sleeper hit “The Witch,” though this first feature by writer-director Edoardo Vitaletti is not as vivid in atmospheric or suspense terms. Still, it’s similarly distinguished by a strong sense of a particular cultural epoch’s comingled faith, fear and oppression, even if “Mary” is set more than 200 years later. Perhaps more rewarding in the end as straight, downbeat period drama than as an occult thriller, it was acquired by genre platform...

One good indication that a person is getting older is that their favorite stars are starting to pass away. As sad and self-serving as that might sound, it’s the truth since several well-known actors have passed away over the last several years after giving the people one great performance after another. Charles Robinson, who went by Charlie more often than not, passed away recently at the age of 75, and as one might guess, a lot of our memories of this extremely likable actor have come into focus at this time. Exclusive: Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist‘s Kapil Talwalkar has been tapped as a series regular in NBC’s half-hour pilot Night Court, a follow-up to the classic legal comedy series that’s headlined and executive produced by Melissa Rauch, with the original series’ John Larroquette reprising his Emmy-winning role.
Written/executive produced by Dan Rubin based on the original series created by Reinhold Weege, the multi-camera Night Court centers on unapologetic optimist judge Abby Stone (Rauch), the daughter of the late Harry Stone, who follows in her father’s footsteps as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding (Larroquette).
Talwalkar will play Neil. As the court’s clerk, it’s his job to keep things moving — a job that got a lot harder ever since a new idealist judge showed up.

“Big Bang Theory” alum stars as the daughter of Harry Anderson’s character from the original series
NBC has given a pilot order to the “Night Court” sequel series starring Melissa Rauch and John Larroquette, the network said Monday.
Put into development last year, the project from Rauch’s After January production company centers on Judge Abby Stone, an “unapologetic optimist” who follows in her father’s footsteps as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court.
Larroquette will reprise his role as former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding, with “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” writer Dan Rubin serving as writer and executive producer.
“My intention was purely to be behind the camera on this project, but my plans quickly changed after falling in love with the incredible script from the brilliant mind of Dan Rubin,” Rauch said in a statement. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to join forces with Dan,...

A sequel to “Night Court” is in development at NBC from “Big Bang Theory” alum Melissa Rauch.
John Larroquette is set to return as Don Fielding. The project currently has a script development deal.
Here is the logline, per NBC: Unapologetic optimist judge Abby Stone (daughter of the late Harry Stone) follows in her father’s footsteps as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding (Larroquette).
Rauch will produce with her husband, Winston Rauch, for After January Productions. Warner Bros. TV is the studio. Dan Rubin will write the series.
The original series, created by Reinhold Weege, aired for nine seasons on NBC from 1984-1992. It took place during the night shift at a Manhattan municipal court. Harry Anderson played the young, unorthodox judge Harry Stone.

Conservatives absolutely love to hate Colin Kaepernick, and a recent controversy centering around Fourth of July-themed Nike sneakers proved to be no exception. On Monday evening, Nike announced it would be pulling a new edition of Fourth of July-themed sneakers featuring the original United States flag as designed by Betsy Ross, with 13 stars in a circle. According to the Wall Street Journal, the reason why Nike pulled the shoe was because Kaepernick, the former NFL quarterback who has served as a spokesperson for Nike, objected to the use of the flag,...

WWE 205 Live from London, England kicked off with a Fatal 4-Way Match pitting the Cruiserweight division’s Humberto Carrillo and Gentleman Jack Gallagher against Nxt UK’s Mark Andrews and James Drake. As the match got underway and James Drake avoided the action, Carrillo and Gallagher appeared to be on the same page, first teaming up against Andrews before chasing Drake. A review of “Holding,” this week’s Better Things, coming up just as soon as I take your paper clips…
Sam Fox has two jobs in this world: actress and mom. Better Things tends to emphasize the latter, establishing that the former is just what Sam does to pay the bills. Whatever magic Hollywood might have had for her (or for Pamela Adlon) as a kid has long since been overwhelmed by the frustrating realities of the business. Spoiler Alert: This story contains details about tonight’s This is Us episode “Vietnam” on NBC.
In a bold and fresh move, tonight’s This is Us episode “Vietnam” focused entirely on one backstory: the historical brotherly love between Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Nicky (Michael Angarano)–a relationship fans have been desperate to explore since we first learned of Nicky’s existence, and his mysterious death, last season.
In this episode we finally see some hint of what might befall Nicky and something of Jack’s role in the war. Nicky’s been issued an Article 15, meaning he’s been cited as a danger to himself and those around him, and this begs the question, will he ultimately do something tragically self-sabotaging?
Speaking to Deadline last week following a press preview screening of the episode, Angarano said of Nicky’s impending death, “I think it’ll be a little bit...

He said;
“Neville had some repeat testing done in Orlando today which included X-Rays and a cat scan of his ankle. So, Star Wars fans, was it worth it?
Wait, don't answer that; we know what you're going to say. The "final" trailer for The Force Awakens premiered last night during Monday Night Football, instantly turning a pretty terrible Nfc East game between the Giants and Eagles into a genuine pop culture event. And while we didn't get any of the exciting bells and whistles promised by a Redditor named "DatESPNGUY" – thanks for nothing, dude – we're willing to bet you, the diehard Force fan, didn't mind. Because the trailer was fucking awesome.
