Phoebe Robinson once dreamed of having her own scripted half-hour comedy series. That dream is now a reality. Based on her 2018 book of the same name, "Everything's Trash" follows the "2 Dope Queens" podcast cohost as a 30-something fictionalized version of herself named Phoebe Hill as she navigates her beautifully messy life. However, when her older brother, Jayden (Jordan Carlos), decides to launch his political career, Phoebe is forced to grow up with some support from her family and friends.
"It feels so exciting," Robinson, 37, tells Popsugar of fulfilling her years-long sitcom goal. "I keep pinching myself, because I'm just like, 'It's happening. It's all happening.' I'm so pumped, and this is just the show and the story that I wanted to tell. As someone who used to watch TV all the time as a kid up until now, I'm just happy that I get to have a show that's part of this TV landscape.

The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences really runs the place. They're the ones in charge who represent 15 branches of the Academy, three Governors for 14 branches, who may serve up to three consecutive terms. Each branch elects or reelects one governor each year. The Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch is represented by a single governor. Next up on the first Tuesday this August: selecting a replacement for outgoing AMPAS president Tom Sherak, who is not seeking a fourth year as president because he's played out his nine-year tenure as a Governor. PGA chief Hawk Koch, who only has one year left as a Governor, producer Gale Anne Hurd, and filmmaker Phil Robinson are among the likely candidates. New Governor Dick Cook, the ex-Disney chairman, would make an excellent president, as would returning producer Kathleen Kennedy, but she will have her hands full running LucasFilm.

Every weekday before Euro 2012 begins on June 8, we’ll preview a national team in the field, beginning with Group A and finishing with Group D. Today we continue Group D with England, a nation which continues its precipitous decline.
Nothing makes me happier than the fact that English fans finally have accepted the fact that the national team essentially have no chance to win a major international tournament. Even with a full squad they would struggle against European competition, but the prospects of making it out of the group stage become even more unlikely without the likes of Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, Gary Cahill and Gareth Barry.
Group A Previews: Poland | Russia | Czech Republic | Greece
England’s strengths this year are, ironically, areas of historical weakness: goalkeeper and manager. I know, I know, no one really likes Roy Hodgson, but he’s certainly the best choice for the job given...

Hollywoodnews.com: For a third consecutiver term, Tom Sherak has been re-elected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The organization’s board of governors approved the move Tuesday night, THR reports. As an officer of the Academy, Sherak can serve up to four consecutive terms in office.
During the Tuesday meetings, Hawk Koch was elected first vice president, joining Robert Rehme (executives branch) and Phil Robinson (writers branch). Pixar mastermind John Lasseter was elected treasurer, while Annette Bening was re-elected secretary.
The trade points out that Sherak has been “instrumental” in keeping the Oscar telecast in the annual awards race spotlight. His most recent decision was to eliminate the mandatory inclusion of 10 Best Picture nominees, making for a more fluid awards race.

As president of the Motion Picture Academy, Tom Sherak was very much the guiding force behind presenting Dawn Hudson to the board of governors before their ratifying vote Thursday night. The meeting lasted more than five hours before they brought new CEO Dawn Hudson and her COO partner Ric Robertson in to meet their applause some time before midnight. Governors James L. Brooks, Sid Ganis, Howard Koch, Phil Robinson and Annette Bening were among the 36 out of 43 members on hand to vote for the new executive director to replace outgoing Bruce Davis. Hudson "has the spirit, passion, determination, smarts and ability to communicate to be a great CEO of that organization," says Sherak, who is voted into his unpaid part-time position by the ...

It’s been a big week — and not quite in a good way — for Richard Wolstencroft of the Melbourne Underground Film Festival, whose home was raided by Australian police looking for banned film L.A. Zombie. It’s a situation that sucks because it’s happening at all, but good because it’s bringing attention to archaic Australian censorship. The story was written up everywhere from the New York Times to The Advocate. Nicest of all, though, was a personal letter of support from Noah Cowan of the Toronto International Film Festival, which screened the film earlier this year. Jay Hollinsworth created a simply amazing poster mashup of one of the most hackneyed visual cliché’s of all time: Looking down a foreshortened gun barrel. Great job, Jay! Oscars.org has video highlights from the Governor’s Awards, including tributes to Jean-Luc Godard from Haskell Wexler, Vincent Cassel, Phil Robinson and more.

If you wanted a preview of what the Governors Ball will look like after the 83rd Annual Academy Awards air on Feb. 27, 2011, you simply needed to score a ticket to last night’s 2nd Annual Governors Awards. Inaugurated last year as a separate ceremony from the Academy Awards, the event is ostensibly designed to celebrate the Honorary Oscar and Irving Thalberg Award honorees in a more thoughtful and meaningful way than a seven minute TV segment. (It also, of course, helps to streamline the infamously bloated Oscar ceremony.) Honorary Oscar winners Jean-Luc Godard, Eli Wallach (pictured, left), and Kevin Brownlow...

It looks like John Stevenson will not be working with DreamWorks again for a long time, if at all. Today Stevenson announced the upcoming projects that he is working on with Vanguard Films.
John Stevenson has signed a producing/directing pact with Vanguard Films, and has begun work on directing Alien Rock Band for Vanguard. Rock Band is a mix of live-action and CGI that follows a garage band from Earth that journeys across the Universe for a chance to quality for the Intergalactic Battle of the Bands.
Vanguard Films has directed such duds as Valiant, Happily N’Ever After, Space Chimps and Space Chimps 2: Zartog Strikes Back. Hopefully bringing the likes of Stevenson on board to produce and direct will be a step into financial and critical success.
A new strategy has been put into place to prepare for the upcoming films according to a press release.
