What superhero fatigue? “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” blasted past projections and opened to a huge $120 million. The animated multiverse epic has already earned over $230 million worldwide in less than a week of release. With the “Spider-Verse” sequel off to a massive start and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” about to cross $800 million worldwide, it appears comic book movies are back on track after box office disappointments like “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and “Shazam: Fury of the Gods.”
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, “Spider-Verse” producers and writers Phil Lord and Chris Miller said “superhero fatigue” is not to blame for certain comic book movies falling below expectations.
“I don’t believe it’s super superhero fatigue, I believe it’s ‘a movie that feels like a movie I’ve seen a dozen times before’ fatigue,” Miller said. “If you’re using the same story structure and the...

Okay, enough time has passed so we can talk about Young Rocket in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" without immediately turning into a quivering puddle of tears. For years James Gunn has been telling us to prepare for Rocket's tragic backstory, but I don't think anybody was truly prepared for just how masterfully Gunn was going to manipulate our emotions.
We all know by now that James Gunn's brother, Sean, a talented character actor who also plays Kraglin in the "Guardians" films, is the on-set Rocket Raccoon. That means he does some performance capture and is there to deliver the lines to the actors so they have someone to work off of, but up until now, Bradley Cooper has always been the voice of Rocket.
Speaking to ComicBookMovie.com, Sean Gunn revealed that with this super sad backstory finally getting told that two other performers got to voice Rocket.

The "Guardians of the Galaxy" trilogy has concluded, and though we're going to see more of Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) at least, the Guardians team as we know them have finished their on-screen adventures. Though they've added members like Kraglin (Sean Gunn), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), and Nebula (Karen Gillan) over the films, the original group consisted of Star-Lord, Gamora (Zoe Sandaña), Groot (voice of Vin Diesel), Drax (Dave Bautista), and Rocket (voice of Bradley Cooper). The ragtag team of unlikely heroes could have had other members in their makeup, according to writer/director James Gunn (via ComicBook.com). One of those characters is Bug.
Haven't heard of Bug? Don't worry. While he was a part of the 2008 "Guardians" comic run by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, he wasn't exactly a well-known member. That said, there was a time when Bug was actually in a draft of the script. Let's take a look at Bug,...

This post contains spoilers for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" and "Vol. 3."
Even before Kraglin became a more prominent "Guardians of the Galaxy" character, Sean Gunn was an integral part of the movies. While Bradley Cooper continues to provide the well-known voice of Rocket Raccoon, Gunn has served as the on-set Rocket through motion capture since the first "Guardians" film in 2014. After six movies -- including two "Avengers" crossovers and "Thor: Love and Thunder" -- and one Disney+ holiday special, Gunn has seen it all. In "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3," he gives a dual performance as Kraglin and Rocket, the latter of whom has such a beefed-up role that we've argued he, not Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), is the real lead, and heart of the movie.

Since the age of home and digital media began, many fans have looked forward to deleted scenes. All films go through an editing process, and things are inevitably cut for narrative flow or the film's length. In the age of the superhero genre, deleted scenes can often reveal a bit about the story process and where a story could have gone. For instance, Donald Glover's character in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" reveals the existence of Miles Morales in one deleted scene. Whether they're full of juicy tidbits or not, it's fun to learn what the filmmakers were thinking or planning, even when those things don't make the final cut.
Not every filmmaker likes to do those, however. In a recent interview with Collider, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" writer/director James Gunn was asked about deleted scenes and extras from that film or the two earlier installments that fans might see in a box set.

In the third and final installment of Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, director James Gunn reserved the lion’s share of the characterization for anthropomorphic characters, as seen through the saga of Rocket and his friends. Whatever little was accorded to humans or humanoids was mostly reflected through the trio of dunderheads: Nebula, Mantis, and Drax. Not only were these characters quite influential in the lore of the Guardians during the Infinity Saga, but their arcs were significantly more interesting than that of Star-Lord, the lead protagonist of the series. James Gunn had previously stated that he would end the journey of the current team of the “Guardians” by concluding the trilogy, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that we won’t see them in the MCU ever again. In this article, we will go through the actions and character arc of the trio in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 to...

It’s an obvious point to make, but allow us just to state it once again, for the record: Andy Dwyer from Parks And Recreation really glowed up, didn’t he? Since the first Guardians Of The Galaxy movie in 2014, Chris Pratt: devilishly handsome, able to channel righteous anger, and capable of big stunt-filled set-pieces just as much as he is comedic ones.
He’s the star of several blockbuster franchises, has a number of standout voice turns under his belt, and his filmography is littered with darker, more dramatic roles, too. But which is his best? Only one way to find out: dance off, bro. Read Empire’s list of Chris Pratt’s 10 best movies now:
10. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Genuinely good sequels are something the Jurassic Park movies have historically found harder to come by than triceratops eggs, but this genuinely good sequel, uh, found a way.

Where to begin with this year’s summer preview?
The “big” titles, including new superhero films, another zippy entry into the “Fast and Furious” franchise, the continuing adventures of Tom Cruise running against “Impossible” odds, or even a kicky new Indiana Jones film? What about the latest picks from some of our favorite filmmakers, Wes Anderson to Greta Gerwig, Christopher Nolan to Nicole Holofcener, Paul Schrader to Niki Caro, Christian Petzold to Rachel Sennott?
Or what about the rising filmmaking stars we’ve already fallen for, like Celine Song, Laurel Parmet, Adele Lim, Charlotte Regan, and Savanah Leaf? Should we bet even bigger, noting that this summer includes at least two films we’ve already crowned some of the best of the year?
Or, better yet, how about we let the films speak for themselves? As another summer movie season beckons, we’ve dug into the calendar to pull out...

Good Friday is a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. It is perhaps fitting to draw parallels to the way Marvel Studios has been foregrounding the definitely not-a-raccoon character Rocket in its marketing -- both the trailer and key art -- and setting up some sort of major sacrifice in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. Will they kill the diminutive wiseass only to bring him back later? In a further religious underscore, design house Art Machine's most recent poster for the film echoes the Coen Brothers' A Serious Man, a period tragicomedy itself riffing on the old testament's Book of Job. (Unnecessary side tangent and hot-take: A Serious Man might be The Coens' best film, and it is...

Could Iron Man cross paths with Batman? Might Spider-Man trade quips with The Flash? Perhaps Thanos and Darkseid could have a chat about the Anti-Life Equation over tea and cucumber sandwiches? It’s hard to imagine the two biggest comic-book franchises joining forces on the big screen, but a Marvel DC crossover isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility now that James Gunn has taken over DC Studios.
While speaking with Empire, James Gunn spoke about a possible Marvel DC crossover. “I’m certain that’s more likely now that I’m in charge [at DC],” Gunn said. “Who knows?” Before you start getting too excited, nothing has been seriously discussed, and Gunn said that the DC Universe needs to establish itself before they consider any type of crossover event. “That’s many years away, though,” Gunn said. “I think we have to establish what we’re doing [at DC] first. Remember Asgardians of the Galaxy? No, not the pretty okay comic series that spun out of the Thor-centric Marvel event War of the Realms. We mean the MCU team set up at the end of Avengers: Endgame, which seemed to suggest that Thor would be joining Peter Quill and co. to go on ribald space adventures.
Thor’s time with the Guardians was a big part of the advertising of Thor: Love and Thunder, but the movie quickly discarded the heroes to set the god of thunder on his own adventure. Some people may have been disappointed by this missed opportunity, but not James Gunn.
“What the fuck am I gonna do?” Gunn asked himself after seeing Thor join the Guardians at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Talking to Rolling Stone, Gunn recalled the panic he felt when he realized that his plans for the third and final Guardians of the Galaxy...

The writer-director shared that among the ensemble of characters in the film Rocket, voiced by Bradley Cooper, is the one he relates to “a very core level.”

In the reflected light of Elton John’s diamond-studded lapels, aided by the hundreds of flashing pairs of Elton specs out in the arena, the end of the road – yellow brick, naturally – is in sight. We’ve fallen for the arena-filling farewell tour scam so often now that it’s an industry joke – Roger Waters is currently on what’s nudgingly billed as his first. But five years and almost 300 shows into Elton John’s globe straddling long goodbye – Farewell Yellow Brick Road, the highest-grossing tour in history – it’s hard to doubt Sir Reg’s sincerity.
