If there's ever a question if you can get a star-studded cast to appear in a cheap slapdash project solely on the basis of letting them have some fun, you only have to point to Sebastian Gutierrez, who's done it not once, but twice now. As writer/director, he did it in his debut film Women in Trouble, which boasts the likes of Josh Brolin and Simon Baker in addition to the impressive female cast that includes the talented Sarah Clarke and Connie Britton. Women in Trouble nosedived both critically and commercially, yet here is the sequel, opening in theaters today, with a cast no less inspiring.
It claims to be only about Elektra Luxx, as one would infer from the title, but the film strangely takes the occasional detour to returning beauties Adrianne Palicki and Emmanuelle Chriqui on vacation, a subplot that barely ties into the main story and...

Burnt out from the Oscar-Nominated movies? Looking for a unique film experience that will spark conversation? BuzzFocus caught up with director and writer Sebastian Gutierrez (The Eye, Gothika, Snakes on a Plane) who was excited to talk about his latest film, Elektra Luxx, a day in the life of its title character (Carla Cugino, Sin City) who is trying to reinvent herself but her surreal life makes that a difficult task.
Formerly a porn starlet, Elektra hopes to make it in the straight world while preparing for motherhood. The father of her child, Nick Chapel passed away so she uses her skills of her past trade to become a sex-education instructor at the local community center. A flight attendant Cora (Mary Shelton, Deathproof) who nearly had an affair with her late husband approaches her with lyrics from Nick’s unreleased record, completely dedicated to Elektra, and in exchange she has to seduce Cora’s fiancée.

Starring: Carla Gugino, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Adrianne Palicki and Emmanuelle Chriqui
When director Sebastian Gutierrez (“Judas Kiss”) made the first of his “Elektra” porn spoofs in “Women in Trouble,” he introduced characters whose life experiences read like panels in a comic strip. But no matter what came before, and what Gutierrez promises next, “Elektra Luxx” the movie stands on its own as a soon-to-be cult classic.
Elektra Luxx, played by Gutierrez’s talented girlfriend Carla Gugino, is a retired porn actress. Resigned but hardly out to pasture, the gorgeous Luxx teaches a course to housewives in need on how to be porn queens in bed. To make matters more intense, Luxx is pregnant, though true to comic-strip style, we never see her pregnancy — even at that critical moment when her water breaks. Much like a really great soap opera — minus...

Have you ever watched a movie, thought to yourself “hey, that wasn’t bad” and then, not even an hour later, forgotten most of what you’ve seen? Elektra Luxx is one of those movies. And it’s a shame because the performances and characters are actually more than decent. Unfortunately, the story itself isn’t very interesting and, when all the parts come together, it just feels off.
A sequel to 2009′s Women in Trouble (also written and directed by Sebastian Gutierrez), Elektra Luxx takes place a few months after the events of the first film and features three different plots. The main story follows the title character, played once again by Carla Gugino, who has retired from the porn industry after finding out she was pregnant with now-deceased rock star Nick Chapel’s (played in the first by Josh Brolin, complete with lame British accent) baby. Instead of being a porn star,...

One of the major disappointments of last year's SXSW Festival was that some malfunction or another caused Elektra Luxx to quit after some 20-30 minutes, and they were unable to get it running. Though this is a film of limited budget, it had already proven itself in that time, and it might well have gone on to be one of my top picks.
The film is about a retired adult film star, and her effort to become a... well, a more "legitimate" adult in some sense. She's now teaching at a community college, and her Sensuality 101 (or whatever it is exactly) class is a big hit. Throwing a wrench in her plans for playing life straight is the fact that she used to date rock star Nick Chapel, now deceased, and several people are after some songs he wrote before he died.
Also, telling people you're a "real" person now,...

Following his much-lauded performance this past summer in Christopher Nolan's Inception, people have been asking a really smart question: "Where has Joseph Gordon Levitt been all this time?" The truth is that since starring on 3rd Rock From The Sun as a teen, Gordon Levitt has managed to stay busy, taking roles in small, yet amazing, movies like Brick, The Lookout, and Mysterious Skin. The guy is immensely likable and has a packed schedule, one his upcoming films being Elektra Luxx. A sequel to 2009's Women in Trouble (in which he had part in a scene after the credits), Elektra Luxx sees Gordon Levitt return as Bert Rodriguez, an egotistical and slightly stupid adult entertainment reporter. Gordon And The Whale has gotten their hands on the first look at Jgl in the film, which also stars Carla Gugino (as the title character), Malin Akerman (who you can see in...

We love Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and you probably do, too. He’s got talent, he’s got style, and these new photos from Elektra Luxx show that he can play sleazy well. Here, he plays a sex blogger named Bert Rodriguez, and two pictures have emerged online of him as the character. They come from GordonandtheWhale, with one of them below and the other at the link:
This is a follow-up to 2009’s Women in Trouble, which was also directed by Sebastian Gutierrez. These films are part of an expected trilogy, with the third film Women in Ecstasy apparently on the way. It stars Carla Gugino as the titular character, and with supporting work from Watchmen’s other Silk Spectre, Malin Akerman, as well as Timothy Olyphant. You can see a clip of Gordon-Levitt from the film below:

Here is your first look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Sebastian Gutierrez’s Elektra Luxx. He plays Bert Rodriguez, an adult entertainment reporter/”sex blogger” in the film.
Luxx is the second film in the trilogy and is written and directed by Gutierrez. The first film was 2009′s Women In Trouble and followed by Women In Ecstasy (coming in the near future). The film premiered at SXSW in 2010 and is set for release on March 11.
Below are some photos from our friends at GordonandtheWhale of Gordon-Levitt in character and Malin Akerman (who stars as Trixie):
Official Synopsis:
Recently retired from the adult film industry, superstar Elektra Luxx (Carla Gugino) is pregnant with the child of late rock star Nick Chapel. She is trying to make ends meet by teaching a community college sex education class aimed at housewives when a figure from her past, flight attendant Cora (Marley Shelton), approaches her with a proposition.
