- He was one of a large number of Polish film personnel to die during the Second World War.
- He was able to continue his film career in Germany at the beginning of the 30s till to the takeover of the National Socialists.
- The production designer Jacques Rotmil - who also used the name Jacek Rotmil in Poland - was born in St. Petersburg. He finished an education as architect and engineer.
- When Germany invaded Poland he was caught up with that political horror he fled from Germany some years ago. He went into hiding and joined the underground. Later he was picked up and put in prison in Warsaw. There he was executed on July 26, 1944.
- As a Jew he had to fled from Germany in 1933 and he went to Warsaw where he was able to continue his film career because he already worked for first Polish movies from 1930.
- After his first movie "Der Bastard" (1919) he was the art director of many movies of the 20s who belonged to very different genres.
- He had first become involved in the Polish film industry in 1930 when working on the sound version of the Polish film Exile to Siberia in Berlin.
- Following the Nazi rise to power Rotmil went into exile in Poland where he was employed frequently on Polish and Yiddish productions.
- He worked as an interior designer for a brief time before he entered the film business in 1919. There he could use his knowledge perfect.
