The 'Cowboys and Aliens' actress split from her husband Tao Ruspoli in February after eight years of marriage and the break-up has now been made official.
Following their split, Olivia - who met Tao when she was just 18 and married him six months later – admitted she was going through a tough time.
She said: "The trauma of the divorce has been humbling. And for the first time, I'm a little wobbly. I'm a case of arrested development, in a way - from spending your 20s with someone who really loves to take care of you, as my husband did.
"But I think it's very healthy to spend time alone. You need to know how to be alone and not be defined by another person."
While she still considers Tao - son of the late Italian Prince Dado Ruspoli – a friend, Olivia admitted it was clear for some time the marriage was going to fail.

A rep for "Tron: Legacy" actress Olivia Wilde confirms Tues. (Feb. 8) that she and hubby of eight years, Tao Ruspoli, have split.
So who is this Italian royal who won over the heart of an 18-year-old Wilde?
Ruspoli, whose full name is Tao dei Principe Ruspoli, is the son of Italian Prince Alessandro Ruspoli and Austrian-American actress Debra Berger. Born in Thailand, he was raised in Rome and Los Angeles with dual citizenship and graduated from Uc Berkley with a degree in Philosophy.
Ruspoli currently works as a filmmaker and musician, most well known for his documentary "Just Say Know," which explored his own family's personal issues with drug addiction. As for his musical inclination, he apparently plays a mean flamenco guitar.
The now 35-year-old wed Wilde in 2003 after just six months together, but their wedding certainly wasn't a royal affair.

Olivia Wilde's life as a princess -- literally -- may be coming to a close.
Wilde and Italian royal hubby Tao dei Principe Ruspoli have officially separated, a rep for the actress tells Us Magazine. The couple eloped when Wilde was just 18-years-old, interestingly enough, in an abandoned school bus.
"The bus was the only place we could be completely alone," the "House" star told Playboy. "The wedding was a secret, and we wanted to do it someplace where we could hide with our best friends. It was all about the intimacy of the promise we were making."
It doesn't seem as though Wilde will miss her title, though. She also told Playboy, "I never call myself [a princess]. I occasionally get mail that says 'Principessa.' It's all part of being this lucky person who has been welcomed into an interesting family with a long history."

Olivia Wilde has a new title. Sure, she is already an actress, princess (yes, princess – more on that later) and professional player of bisexual hotties. She can now add president, CEO and founder of the Save the Mountain Ox Society. Well, at least, that’s what she told GQ.
The House star earned the title, which apparently comes with an in-home jungle gym, with her response to Megan Fox’s earlier proclamation in the same magazine that Olivia was so sexy she “makes me want to strangle a mountain ox with my bare hands.” Olivia’s reaction:
I came into my trailer at House the morning after that article came out and one of our writers had done an illustration on my mirror of a mountain ox saying, ‘Save me, save me. Please, Olivia, make out with Megan!’ ” Though Wilde is a little skeptical of the recent girl-crush fad, she...
