Dwayne Johnson's long-awaited take on "Black Adam" had a very bumpy road to the big screen, but it has finally arrived. Helmed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the latest from DC is an action-packed introduction to the protector of Kahndaq, a man who lived thousands of years locked away after being granted the almighty power of the gods. A passion project for Johnson, the film came to be after 14 years of planning, starting, stopping, and throwing ideas at the wall. Between that and the loaded comic book history of the character, it was no simple task for scribes Adan Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani to whittle those ideas down to a single script. Nor was it easy for editors, Mike Sale and John Lee to turn hours of footage into 125 minutes worth of movie.

WaterTower Music has released the first music to be heard from the upcoming New Line Cinema action adventure “Black Adam,” starring Dwayne Johnson. The first-ever feature film to explore the story of the uncompromising DC antihero comes to the big screen under the direction of Jaume Collet-Serra (“Jungle Cruise”). The Black Adam Theme (from “Black Adam”) by highly respected Grammy Award-winning and Emmy-nominated composer Lorne Balfe has just been released – in advance of the film and soundtrack release. “Black Adam” smashes into theaters and IMAX internationally beginning 19 October 2022, and in North America on October 21, 2022.
Balfe’s vision for the music of Black Adam encompasses an exploration into the back stories that define the characters. The composer commented on that approach. “It was exciting to get into the Black Adam theme, and I really wanted to capture his essence as the DC comic book world’s anti-hero. We had a large...

Dwayne Johnson flew in as DC Super Hero Black Adam during Warner Bros. Pictures theatrical panel at Saturday’s Comic Con panel. This guy know how to make an entrance!
“Hall H, you have been warned. The DC universe will never be the same again,” boomed Johnson.

The Hollywood Reporter said during the panel discussion:
Johnson tackled an age-old question: who would win in a fight, Black Adam or Superman? Earlier in the week, rumors circulated that Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill might show up or send a video message for the panel, but that didn’t come to fruition.
Said the actor of a matchup between the DC characters: “Pound for pound, they are pretty close. I guess it probably all depends on who is playing Superman.

There are a lot of characters without whom Criminal Minds can survive.
You can argue with me if you want, but I'm of the opinion that the one whose departure would make the greatest impact would be one Penelope Garcia.
On Criminal Minds Season 12 Episode 10, the Bau team travels to San Diego to investigate some home invasions that turn deadly.
And when they're on the road, the team relies on Garcia's nimble fingers and puzzle solving mind to string together the pieces of evidence to track their suspects.
This time, she's looking into someone named Michael Sale.
Sales is the middle child of three boys
His father died at age sixteen and his mother drank himself to death soon afterward.
Garcia immediately feels the heartstrings pulling, and her face falls.
"Those boys raised themselves," she says. "Aw. That's so sad. So, of course, they each got in their own kind of trouble.

The first trailer for Dwayne Johnson’s and Kevin Hart’s action comedy Central Intelligence came online Friday.
The story follows a one-time bullied geek who grew up to be a lethal CIA agent (Johnson), coming home for his high school reunion. Claiming to be on a top-secret case, he enlists the help of the former “big man on campus” (Hart), now an accountant who misses his glory days. But before the staid numbers-cruncher realizes what he’s getting into, it’s too late to get out, as his increasingly unpredictable new friend drags him through a world of shoot-outs, double-crosses and espionage that could get them both killed in more ways than he can count.
Central Intelligence also stars Oscar nominee Amy Ryan (“Gone Baby Gone”), Aaron Paul (TV’s “Breaking Bad”), and Danielle Nicolet (TV’s “The Game”).

Strangely dropping a press release on a historic day where the nation's attention is elsewhere, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed their annual list of new member invitees this morning. For those who criticize the makeup of the Academy there was some good news and the stark realization the organization still has a long way to go. The Academy has spent the last eight to 10 years attempting to diversify its membership and this year's class mostly reflects that. There are significantly more invitees of Asian and African-American descent, but the male to female disparity is still depressing. Out of the 25 potential new members of the Actor's Branch only seven are women. And, no, there isn't really an acceptable way for the Academy to spin that sad fact. Additionally, It's important to realize the 322 people noted in the release have only been invited to join Hollywood's most exclusive club.

Warner Bros. has revealed the first trailer for Will Ferrell’s upcoming comedy, Get Hard. From director Etan Cohen, the Gary Sanchez-produced pic looks primed to kickstart Ferrell’s slapstick antics, which have been sorely missing from the cinema calendar as of late.
In the movie, the former SNL star appears as hedge fund manager, James. When the millionaire is indicted for fraud, his impending stint in prison fills him with dread. Luckily, Kevin Hart’s Darnell is on hand to prepare James for all of the experiences that await him behind the bars of San Quentin.
With the first preview now available (via Yahoo! Movies), we’re able to get a sense of what’s in store for the timid chappie while he gets himself ready for prison life. As stories go, the premise overall isn’t that enticing. It simply sounds like a re-hash of countless other...

Here’s your first look at the poster and photos from Get Hard. The film is scheduled to open nationwide on Friday, March 27, 2015.
When millionaire hedge fund manager James (Will Ferrell) is nailed for fraud and bound for a stretch in San Quentin, the judge gives him 30 days to get his affairs in order. Desperate, he turns to Darnell (Kevin Hart) to prep him for a life behind bars. But despite James’ one-percenter assumptions, Darnell is a hard-working small business owner who has never received a parking ticket, let alone been to prison.
Together, the two men do whatever it takes for James to “get hard” and, in the process, discover how wrong they were about a lot of things – including each other.
Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart join forces in the feature comedy Get Hard, also starring Tip “T.I.” Harris, Alison Brie, and Craig T. Nelson.

Every woman I know who is even slightly skinny-disabled adores Melissa McCarthy, and why not? She comes off as warm, joyful, and totally comfortable with her poundage in all of her print and TV interviews. Off-screen she’s a role model and an inspiration. And on-screen, she has perfect comic timing, a puppy dog’s smile that emerges now and then from her gruffest characters, plus a huge dose of self-respect. Hollywood probably hasn’t had a box office star like her since Marie Dressler in the Thirties, one who has so upended what a star should be. McCarthy might just be the anti-Julia Roberts.
Now first the good news: In the trailer for the forthcoming October release St. Vincent, which stars Bill Murray, we see glimpses of McCarthy playing a genuine human being. Yes, there’s much more to Melissa than a few bravura comic performances and a...

Oscar-nominee Melissa McCarthy plays Tammy in New Line Cinema’s comedy Tammy, a Warner Bros. Pictures release.
Marking Ben Falcone’s directorial debut, check out the latest trailer before the film hits theaters on July 2nd.
Tammy (McCarthy) is having a bad day. She’s totaled her clunker car, gotten fired from her thankless job at a greasy burger joint, and instead of finding comfort at home, finds her husband getting comfortable with the neighbor in her own house.
It’s time to take her boom box and book it. The bad news is she’s broke and without wheels. The worse news is her grandma, Pearl (Sarandon), is her only option—with a car, cash, and an itch to see Niagara Falls. Not exactly the escape Tammy had in mind. But on the road, with grandma riding shot gun, it may be just what Tammy needs.

Like every entertainment guild or union there is an awards show to recognize the year’s best in narrative film, documentary, and television. We’ve already seen various guilds nominate the best in producing, directing, and writing, now we have the Eddie Awards from the American Cinema Editors (Ace). There aren’t any big surprises on this list, The Descendants, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Hugo, and Young Adult all made the list.
But looking at the list below, I noticed that the guild has separated the movies into their own categories; so that one movie genre isn’t overlooked.
You can read the full press release and list of nominees below:

Each year American Cinema Editors [1] (Ace) recognizes the best editing of the year in narrative film, documentary and television through the Eddie Awards. The nominations for achievement in 2011 have been released [2]. They include a couple of expected films such as Hugo and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and feature a couple other inclusions that might count as surprises to some. The full list is below. This list comes from the Ace press release about this year's Eddies. In this case, I like that there are feature film categories for dramatic and comedy/musical efforts; not that editing one or the other is more difficult, but editing is such a core component of comedy and musical films, and one that so often goes unheralded and even unexamined, that it deserves a moment in the sun. Looking at the documentary selections, I was at first disappointed not to see Senna included,...

The 62nd annual Ace Eddie Awards have announced their nominees this year for the best in editing. Last year, The Social Network team of Angus Wall and Kirk Baxter rightfully won the top award, while Exit Through the Gift Shop picked it up for documentary. Out of the noms below, I’d love to see Thelma Schoonmaker pick it up for Hugo, mostly due to the last third of the film or Kevin Tent’s fitting relaxed tone on The Descendants. As for Moneyball and War Horse, outside of some well put-together sequences, both felt overlong and thus undeserving of the award. Same goes for Werner Herzog‘s Cave of Forgotten Dreams, whereas David Tedeschi’s George Harrison: Living in the Material World runs almost four hours and has excellent pacing. Check out all the noms below.
Best Edited Feature Film (Dramatic):
The Descendants
Kevin Tent, A.C.E.

hollywoodnews.com: The American Cinema Editors announced their nominations for the 62nd Annual Ace Eddie Awards Monday morning, recognizing outstanding editing in nine categories of film, television and documentaries.
Like the Golden Globes, the editors divide their films between “Dramatic” and “Comedic” categories, so its tough to peg how (or if) they play into the five Oscar nomination slots. At the very least, you can guess that the Academy’s five nominees will come from the five features listed below.
Winners will be revealed during Ace’s 62nd annual black-tie awards ceremony on Saturday, February 18, 2012 in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel. As previously announced, the ceremony will be hosted by actor/comedian Patton Oswalt. Later this month Ace will announce the Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year honoree and two Career Achievement honorees.

During the production of Anchorman, enough footage was shot to make essentially a second film. Released straight to DVD and often packaged with the original, Wake Up, Ron Burgundy is a collection of outtakes and scrapped story ideas for the final product that were sloppily stitched together and used to make some extra money. Watching it is like watching a home video project made by a very eager fan who cobbled together an alternate universe from whatever scraps he could find. It's not a painful experience by any means, but it just feels off, like watching a dress rehearsal in need of some rewrites.
