Ted Cruz basically handed the reins of the Republican party to Donald Trump after the Indiana primaries on Tuesday, but things aren't looking so final on the other side of the aisle. Bernie Sanders pulled out a surprise victory in the Hoosier State, besting Hillary Clinton after weeks of setbacks. The Indiana win re-invigorated Sanders' campaign, which recently suffered massive campaign cuts. "It's an uphill fight for us. But you know what? I started this campaign 60 points behind Secretary Clinton. We've been fighting uphill from day one," the Vermont Sen. told CNN. "We will continue to fight uphill and I...

There were a ton of stories at Comic-Con this year that got a lot of people excited and up in arms, but none of the announcements were actually life-changing. (Well except for maybe the Batman/Superman crossover, because that.s just insane.) But one woman.s life was definitely changed on Thursday, as three stuntmen working on a Comic-Con promotion for Jeff Wadlow.s upcoming Kick-Ass 2 managed to put a halt to the depressed woman.s suicide attempt, according to the New York Daily News. Just in case anyone thought that watching a film as violent as Kick-Ass 2 might rub off on people in harmful ways, take heed in knowing that working on the movie certainly didn.t dull anyone.s values or sense of heroism. Stuntmen Amos Carver, Greg Sargeant and Scot Schecter were erecting scaffolding in anticipation for a Kick-Ass 2 premiere party when the woman...

As Obama starts his second term, the game has changed: with no need to compromise, he can make defaulting the Gop's fault
Update
Since this piece was written, President Obama's "Pat Geary strategy" of offering nothing has … well, succeeded. Friday, Republicans announced that they will take default on the national debt off the table and will push to pass a three-month extension of the debt limit.
Faced with the choice, described below, of default or humiliating walkback, Republicans have chosen the latter. And President Obama's strategy of holding firm on the debt limit appears, at least for now, to have worked.
Original article starts here:
When it comes to legislative negotiations, Barack Obama doesn't exactly have the best reputation. Indeed, the dominant view of the president, particularly among his liberal supporters, is that he is a chronic caver, who offers pre-emptive concessions to his opponents, and strikes bad deals with Republicans.

As will always be the case with humanity, the search for black and white answers will come before examining something as a whole and realizing there are several vantage points from which something can be observed. It's the reason Siskel and Ebert offered thumbs up or thumbs down and the reason RottenTomatoes.com is more popular than MetaCritic.com. Why give me a number that doesn't say "good" or "bad" when I can look at an arbitrary picture of a ripe tomato or splattered green one? Society wants easy answers to tough questions and when they don't get them, they look for them and do their very best to fit a square peg into a round hole. Such is the case with Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty... and the film hasn't even hit theaters yet. The ridiculousness hit a tipping point on this site over the weekend when one...

The Gop has been twisting itself into a pretzel since Obama's executive order last Friday to halt deportation of Dream Act-eligible undocumented immigrants.
Some Gop lawmakers out the gate threatened to sue over the legality of the Eo, but that's the knee-jerk reaction of the smaller portion of the party that's causing the Republicans to bleed Latino votes.
Many in the Gop seem to understand that they can't continue to staunchly oppose any solution to the immigration problem (what immigration problem?) without alienating the fastest growing electoral demographic in the country. At the same time, the Gop immigration policy has been one of stalwart opposition for so long now that they don't really have an immigration policy. What few platforms they can cobble together—increased border security, more deportations—Obama has taken care of in the first three years of his administration. But they can't agree with Obama in an election year,...
