Exclusive: Danielle Moné Truitt (Snowfall) is set as a series regular on the upcoming Fox series Deputy, starring Stephen Dorff, from Entertainment One and Fox Entertainment.
Truitt will play a new character, Deputy Charlie Minnick. Charlie takes the place of Deputy Rachel Quinn, who was introduced in the pilot. Siena Goines, who played Rachel, has departed.
Written by Beall and directed by David Ayer, Deputy is a cop drama that blends the spirit of a classic Western with a modern attitude and gritty authenticity. When the Los Angeles County Sheriff dies, an arcane rule forged back in the Wild West thrusts the most unlikely man into the job: a fifth-generation lawman (Dorff) who’s more comfortable taking down bad guys than navigating a sea of politics. He leads a skilled team of ambitious and complicated human beings who won’t rest until justice is served.

Fox has canceled first-year shows “The Cool Kids” and “The Passage.”
Vampire drama “The Passage” starred Mark-Paul Gosselaar, comedy “The Cool Kids” was co-created by Charlie Day and starred David Alan Grier, Martin Mull, Leslie Jordan and Vicki Lawrence.
Those two cuts follow cancellations for “The Gifted” and “Rel.” “Gotham” has also come to a conclusion, though that one was planned ahead of time.
Also Read: 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'How to Get Away With Murder' and 'Station 19' Renewed at ABC
Fox has previously renewed “9-1-1,” “Bob’s Burgers,” “Empire,” “Family Guy,” “Last Man Standing,” “The Masked Singer,” “The Resident” and “The Simpsons.”
We’re still awaiting decisions on “Lethal Weapon,” “The Orville,” “Proven Innocent” and “Star.”
Fox’s upfront presentation will take place Monday at New York City’s Beacon Theater. There, the network will debut its new fall TV shows for advertisers.

Now standing as its own entity, Fox can do what it pleases when it comes to new series pickups.
Four new dramas, a live-action comedy, and an animated comedy currently please Fox. Let's take a looks at the dramas!
A serial killer drama titled Prodigal Son, an AI drama called Next, a police drama titled Deputy, and an adaptation of Australian drama Sisters have all gotten series orders.
Considered a good companion piece to the recently renewed Empire, sudser Filthy Rich starring Kim Cattrall is still in contention and deals are underway.
Deptuty comes from Will Beall and eOne and Fox Entertainment studios. Deputy stars Stephen Dorff and is a modern cop drama that blends the spirit of a classic Western with a modern-day attitude and gritty authenticity.

Fox just made its first new series pickups, ordering four of its six drama pilots to series. That includes cop/serial killer drama Prodigal Son, starring Tom Payne and Michael Sheen; John Slattery’s AI drama neXt; police drama Deputy, headlined by Stephen Dorff; and the Annie Weisman/Jason Katims sister drama; based on an Australian format.
The drama competition at Fox had been fierce virtually from the start with five of the six pilots emerging as solid contenders. The fifth in the group — soapy family drama Filthy Rich, headlined by Kim Cattrall, which is considered a suitable companion to Empire — remains in contention with deals being worked out.
The mass pickup of new drama series at Fox, which only ordered two new hourlong shows last year, is not good news for the network’s bubble dramas, Lethal Weapon, The Passage and Star.
Fox Orders Live-Action Comedy Series ‘Outmatched’ and Animated ‘The Great North’
I hear Fox’s sixth drama pilot, Tom Kapinos’ Lovestruck, is not going forward at the network. But the show, whose first season takes place over the course of single night at a wedding, reportedly had tested well and has been well received within 20th Century Fox TV, which is expected to shop it elsewhere, similarly to its 2018 Fox pilot Mixtape, which was picked up to series by Netflix.
Of the newly picked-up Fox dramas, one, neXt (plus Filthy Rich), comes from Fox’s former corporate sibling 20th Century Fox TV. The others come from other studios, Warner Bros. TV (Prodigal Son), Universal TV (Weisman/Katims) and eOne (Deputy), underlining the now-independent network’s commitment to work with all suppliers. All are co-productions with Fox Entertainment. The Fox drama lineup also includes top acting talent with Sheen, Slattery and Dorff.
The pickup of Prodigal Son makes it 3-for-3 for Berlanti Prods., with all three of the company’s broadcast pilots this season going to series, including the CW’s Batwoman and Katy Keene.
Prodigal Son passed one of the biggest tests for a pilot – recasting its lead, with Payne replacing originally cast Finn Jones after the pilot read. Payne and Sheen, who plays his father, proved a formidable duo, drawing praise for their acting — especially Sheen who has a showcase role as a notorious serial killer.
2019 Fox Pilots and Series Orders
Police drama Deputy has been praised for Dorff’s acting and the directing work of Bright helmer David Ayer. eOne secured Dorff in what might be the biggest talent deal so far this broadcast pilot season. Dorff will reportedly be paid north of $200,000 an episode. If the show goes to a second season, Dorff would become an executive producer. In conjunction with his casting in Deputy, Dorff made a feature script development deal with eOne to develop and star in a movie, which would be produced by Ayer and Chris Long’s Cedar Park Entertainment.
The four dramas join two comedies picked up to series today by Fox, Outmatched (fka Geniuses) and animated half-hour The Great North. and previously ordered straight-to-series animated comedies Bless the Harts and Duncanville.

The New Fox is ramping up for the 2019-2020 season with six new series pick ups.
The broadcaster handed out orders for four dramas — “Deputy,” “Prodigal Son,” “neXt,” and the untitled Annie Weisman/Jason Katims project — as well as two comedies. One of the comedies is the animated series “The Great North” and the second is the multi-cam “Outmatched,” formerly known as “Geniuses.” These orders join the previously announced straight-to-series orders for the animated comedies “Duncanville” and “Bless the Harts” at Fox.
Each of the newly announced pick ups is a co-production with Fox Entertainment (formerly Fox Broadcasting). The move will allow Fox to maintain a stake in the shows despite not having a vertically-integrated studio like they did before the 21st Century Fox-Disney merger that saw 20th Century Fox Television move under the Disney umbrella. Both “Duncanville” and “Bless the Harts” are co-productions as well. “Duncanville” is produced by Universal Television,...

Among the dramas are David Ayer’s “Deputy,” the John Slattery-led “neXt,” the Greg Berlanti-produced “Prodigal Son,” and an untitled project from Jason Katims and Annie Weisman starring Brittany Snow. Each of those series comes from a different studio — eOne, 20th Century Fox Television, Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, respectively — and is a co-production with Fox Entertainment.
The duo of comedies ordered by Fox include the live-action family sitcom “Outmatched,” starring Jason Biggs and Maggie Lawson, and the animated series “The Great North,” featuring Nick Offerman, Jenny Slate and Megan Mullally. [[tmz:video id="0_xdxbf58d"]] Even though Bill Paxton was one of the leads on the TV version of "Training Day," no one will take his place in the role ... according to producers. Will Beall, the creator of the CBS crime series, and executive producer Barry Schindel, told us Bill was perfect and irreplaceable as crooked cop Frank Roarke. They've already finished shooting the show's premiere season, and they're playing it close to the vest when it comes to Bill's character's fate.

Jada Pinkett Smith will be back on TV, this time with her own show: ABC has ordered a put pilot for a legal drama starring Pinkett Smith called Murder Town, from the studio that produces Lifetime's Unreal. She'll play a woman who becomes Wilmington, Delaware's first black district attorney, but this is ABC, so it'll have that extra Shonda Rhimes soapy twist: "She finds herself confronted by old loyalties and loves, a shocking revelation about her murdered husband, and a polarizing, racially-charged case that threatens to burn her and her city to the ground." It'll be written by Castle's Barry Schindel, who'll also executive-produce along with Pinkett Smith and Miguel Melendez. Pinkett Smith recently appeared on Fox's Gotham, but it looks like Fish Mooney will be, well, resting with the fishes for quite a while.

Many have been comparing the new CBS drama "Intelligence" to NBC's cult favorite spy series "Chuck." Makes sense: Both have a main character with upgraded artificial intelligence implanted in their brains that help them save the world, one spy mission at a time.
Of course, the differences between the two shows are pretty major: "Intelligence" is a serious drama, while "Chuck" had all the makings of a quirky romantic comedy. But the similarities couldn't be ignored during the TCA winter press tour panel for "Intelligence" on Wednesday (Jan. 15), and executive producers Tripp Vinson, Michael Seitzman and Barry Schindel addressed the inevitable elephant in the room: Did "Chuck" influence "Intelligence" in any way?
According to Vinson, not at all. "We're embarrassed to say that neither of us watched ['Chuck'], so obviously it wasn't an influence for us because we hadn't seen it," Vinson says of himself and Seitzman. "We did a lot...

Former ABC Studios Evp Barry Jossen, now an ABC Studios-based producer, has sold a second project, ABC drama Sins. Written by Philip Levens, it is a dark, twisted, sexy soap about a modern day black widow who seduces a wealthy man while struggling to stay one step ahead of his District Attorney sister and the ghosts of her past. Sins joins Jossen’s legal drama with Barry Schindel at CBS. ABC is taking on another Latin American format with Los Roldán, an hourlong dramedy based on the 2004 Argentine telenovela/comedy series. It hails from another former ABC Studios executive, Svp drama Michael McDonald, who stepped down in July to become an ABC Studios-based producer. The Los Roldán adaptation, written by Sarah Hooper (UK’s Shameless), will be set in Miami and feature a predominantly Latin cast. This fall, I counted three new series that had a disgraced banker or a financial scheme as a starting-off point in the pilot: 2 Broke Girls, in which co-lead Carline (Beth Behrs) is a former super-rich heiress thrown into poverty after the assets of her banker dad were frozen over a massive Ponzi scheme; in ABC’s Good Christian Belles, the lead Amanda (Leslie Bibb) also was left pennyless by her deceased husband who too was indicted in a Ponzi scheme; and in ABC’s Revenge, the lead, Emily (Emily VanCamp), is exacting revenge on the Grayson family that destroyed her father who, in a setup, was made the fall guy in an insider-trading and money-laundering scheme. It seems like more and more filmmakers are making the transition from the big screen to television. Here's a pilot casting that is sure to get fans of "Heroes" buzzing.
The show's co-star Sendhil Ramamurthy has joined NBC's comedic drama pilot "Rex Is Not Your Lawyer" as a regular.
Jane Curtin also has been cast in the pilot that stars David Tennant as Rex Alexander, a top Chicago litigator who begins suffering panic attacks and takes up coaching clients to represent themselves in court.
Ramamurthy will play an ambitious but good-natured lawyer who was in Rex's shadow until Rex's career switch and whose friendship with Rex becomes complicated when he falls in love with his pal's fiancee (Abigail Spencer).
For Ramamurthy, the casting is in second position to "Heroes." But, given that both shows are at the same network and are produced by the same studio, Ums, it's safe to assume that Ramamurthy would be free to do "Rex" should the pilot go to series for next season.

"Rex" was one of the first projects Berman and Lloyd developed after the 2007 launch of their company. They originally sold it to NBC that year under their first-look deal with NBC Universal. It first was sidelined by the writers strike; then NBC brass passed on it.

Written by Andrew Leeds and David Lampson, "Rex" centers on a lawyer who suffers panic attacks and takes up coaching clients to represent themselves in court.

NEW YORK -- TNT announced plans to extend its winning streak in scripted dramas with projects in development from big-time executive producers George Clooney, "24" co-creator Joel Surnow and others.
Four of the series in development are cop-themed. "Delta Blues" is about a Memphis cop who is also an Elvis impersonator. It's executive produced by Clooney, Grant Heslov, Abby Wolf-Weiss, Liz Garcia and Josh Harto (Warner Horizon Television and SmokeHouse). Another project is yet to be titled and focuses on a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agent. Surnow is the executive producer with Todd Robinson and also the writer. And "Angel City" is an "Adam-12"-like drama written by L.A. cop Will Beall and Barry Schindel with Mandalay Television.
None of the projects was mentioned at Turner's upfront, held at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Wednesday morning, the first time Turner had gone into upfront week. It's not likely to be the last, judging from the positive reaction from buyers and the good vibes afterward from Turner execs who put on an 81-minute program that had everything -- stars, lots of footage -- that their broadcast rivals so far have lacked.
Also in development are "Tough Trade", a look at Nashville music from Lionsgate Television and executive produced by Chris Offutt, Sean Furst and Bryan Furst; and an untitled family drama like "Little Miss Sunshine" executive produced by Rob Ulin.

STRIKE ZONE: LATEST NEWS AND UPDATES
UPDATED 5:02 p.m. PT Jan. 14
The force majeure ax swung wide Monday as four TV studios -- CBS Paramount Network TV, Universal Media Studios, 20th Century Fox Television and Warner Bros. TV -- tore up dozens of overall deals.
All four issued similarly worded statements blaming the writers strike for the terminations, which are expected to save the studios tens of millions of dollars. But none came close to the nearly 30 overall deals axed at ABC Studios on Friday. CBS Par and 20th TV each dropped half that number. UMS and WBTV stayed in the single digits, with WBTV's termination tally said to be less than five deals. Like ABC Studios, CBS Par, UMS, 20th TV and WBTV mostly went after writers, producers and directors with no active projects.
CBS Par's force majeure list includes some high-profile writing and nonwriting producers: Hugh Jackman, whose Seed Prods. inked a multiyear deal at the studio in August; "The Chronicles of Narnia" producer Mark Johnson; veteran writer-producer Rene Echevarria, who co-created CBS Par's USA Network series "The 4400" (he will continue his services as exec producer on the studio's NBC drama "Medium"); the Emmy-winning "Sopranos" writing duo of Mitchell Burgess and Robin Green; Barry Schindel ("Numbers"); and John McNamara ("Fastlane").
Scribes Jennifer Levin ("Without a Trace"), Liz Astrof ("The King of Queens") and the team of Aron Abrams and Greg Thompson ("Everybody Hates Chris") also received termination letters from CBS Par.
