After being subpoenaed by the prosecution, a social media influencer reluctantly took the stand, after she was given assurances that she would not be charged as Harvey Weinstein’s accomplice.
Claudia Salinas, a dancer and influencer who met Weinstein in the early 2000’s, was called by the prosecution, who questioned Salinas as to whether she led Jane Doe #2 up to Weinstein’s hotel room where a sexual assault allegedly took place. Salinas disputed the alleged version of events.
Prior to her testimony, Salinas appeared before the judge on Tuesday with her attorney, Scott Rosenblum, who expressed concerns over her testifying and suggested she might invoke the fifth amendment.
Deputy district attorney Paul Thompson said Rosenblum asked if his client, Salinas, could be charged as an accomplice. “I told him I haven’t charged her yet, I have no intention of charging her, but it is still within statute,” Thompson said,...

A licensed massage therapist sat in front of a jury to recount her graphic allegations of a series of instances in which Harvey Weinstein sexually assaulted and masturbated in front of her during business appointments.
Jane Doe #3 testified that the first time she ever worked with Weinstein as a client, he abruptly changed his friendly demeanour during a massage, cornering her in a hotel bathroom and masturbating in front of her, groping her breasts and yelling at her, reports Variety.
“He said: ‘Look at me, tell me how big my cock is. Look at me. Look at me. Fucking look at me,'” Jane Doe #3 testified, raising her voice on the stand, as to intimate the tone in which Weinstein spoke to her. As she started to tear up, she told the jury that she kept telling Weinstein “no” and “tried backing away from his as far as possible.” But...

Jury selection in Harvey Weinstein’s trial is officially underway.
Weinstein, who was convicted of rape and sexual assault in his New York trial in 2020, faces 11 new charges in Los Angeles in a trial that began Monday morning at the criminal courthouse in downtown L.A. Nine women are expected to testify in a trial that could effectively put Weinstein behind bars for life, if convicted.
Weinstein — whose monumental fall was the fuse the ignited the #MeToo movement — is already serving a 23-year sentence from his 2020 conviction where Weinstein was found guilty of third-degree rape and a first-degree criminal sexual act. The New York Court of Appeals, which is the highest court in that state, has agreed to hear his case. Weinstein was extradited in July 2021 to L.A. from N.Y., where he was serving his sentence.

The attorneys and professionals in the Weinstein Co. bankruptcy case have received $26 million in fees thus far, considerably more than the $17.1 million that Harvey Weinstein’s victims will receive.
The legal bills are still coming in, and will likely exhaust the $3.3 million remaining in the company’s accounts, according to testimony from Robert Peck, the company’s former controller.
The fees represent a sizable chunk of the cost of resolving the case, but have received far less attention than the payouts to other stakeholders.
Last Monday, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Mary Walrath approved a $35.2 million settlement, which includes the $17.1 million fund that will be paid out to more than 50 of Weinstein’s sexual misconduct accusers. The plan, which is funded by insurance policies, will also pay $9.7 million to cover defense costs for Weinstein Co. directors and officers, and $8.4 million to the company’s trade creditors, including law firms and other entertainment companies.

Early this afternoon in a Manhattan courtroom, actress and model Lauren Marie Young, whose accusations of a sexual assault against Harvey Weinstein are included in a criminal case brought against the former Hollywood producer in Los Angeles, recounted a harrowing incident in 2013.
Young described being trapped in a hotel bathroom while a naked Weinstein groped her breasts, “grazed” her vagina with one hand and masturbated himself with the other.
By the end of the afternoon, Weinstein’s defense attorney Damon Cheronis had called into question numerous details of the account. He hammered away at inconsistencies in Young’s testimony today and versions of the incident she’d conveyed previously to law enforcement agencies and district attorneys on both coasts.
At one point, with Young’s pro bono attorney Gloria Allred seated in the front row of the courtroom’s spectator section, Cheronis, his hands in thin rubber gloves, held up...

Speaking publicly for the first time, aspiring actress and hairdresser Jessica Mann testified on Friday that Harvey Weinstein sexually assaulted her in hotel rooms in Los Angeles and New York City in 2013 — and that she found a syringe used for a penile injection after one of the encounters.
In graphic testimony that left her sobbing in the New York courtroom, the key prosecution witness described her “manipulative” encounters with the former Hollywood mogul and how she “faked an orgasm” after she said he orally sexually assaulted her in an L.A. hotel room in order to end the experience as quickly as possible. Her accusations represent at least two of the five felony counts that Weinstein faces; he has pleaded not guilty.
Mann, who grew up on a dairy farm in Washington, said she first met Weinstein at a party in the Hollywood Hills in late 2012 or early 2013. Having just...

A Canadian court today denied the Walt Disney Co.’s request to keep a series of employment agreements with Harvey Weinstein confidential.
The decision comes in a lawsuit initiated in October by an unidentified Toronto actress who is suing the disgraced Hollywood mogul for $4 million, claiming that he sexually assaulted her twice in 2000, when she was working on a Miramax teen film.
As Jane Doe, the woman is pursuing negligence claims against Miramax, saying it facilitated his “sexual predation in the workplace” and against Disney, the independent studio’s corporate parent at the time, claiming it was “willfully blind” to Weinstein’s conduct. The actress also is seeking damages against Weinstein’s former assistant, Barbara Schneeweiss, whom she accuses of inflicting mental injury.
Disney has taken the position that Weinstein had “virtual autonomy” in how he operated the independent film studio, so there is no basis for the actress’ legal claim against it.

Judge dismisses former assistant’s challenge to lawsuit, which claims she knew of Weinstein’s predation and helped facilitate attacks
A Canadian judge has rejected a bid to dismiss an anonymous actor’s $4m sexual assault lawsuit against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, his former assistant and two entertainment companies.
In a ruling released on Friday, the Toronto judge Patrick Monohan dismissed a challenge to the actor’s lawsuit filed by Weinstein’s former assistant Barbara Schneeweiss which argued that the allegations concerning her had expired under Ontario statute of limitations laws.

Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has been forced to withdraw his name from contention for the 2008 Emmy Awards for his work on Project Runway - because the reality TV show listed too many producers.
The Weinstein Company boss took his name off the nominations list after the team behind the program was told they had gone over the Emmy limit of 15 producers.
Fellow producer Barbara Schneeweiss tells the New York Post's PageSix, "I called up Harvey and said, 'We have all these people who have worked so hard on the show who should be recognized'. He was great about it and said, 'I'll take one for the team'."
Weinstein's brother Bob is still included on the credits - but elder sibling Harvey isn't bothered about missing out, and says, "I've gotten plenty of other awards. It's the right thing to do."...

Just last month, we watched helplessly as Lifetime snatched Project Runway from NBC/Bravo with a $150 million deal for the rights of the very successful fashion design reality series. While everyone assumed that the whole production is moving to Lifetime, NBC signed on Project Runway producers Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz to an exclusive contract for NBC Universal.
The producers from Magical Elves shall be developing scripted and unscripted shows exclusively for Nbcu, which means that Lifestyle will have to put together their own team to handle Project Runway, once it begins with its new network later this year. Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn are reported to stay on the show, but Nina Garcia and Michael Kors have not renewed any contracts as of the moment, despite reports that they are indeed moving to Lifetime.
