Amazon Prime Video France has signed a multi-year deal with leading French independent distributor Metropolitan FilmExport to bring over 100 movies to local subscribers.
Metropolitan FilmExport ranks as one of France’s top purveyors of U.S. franchise films, such as “Lord of the Rings,” “Hunger Games,” and “John Wick.” As such, this deal positions Prime Video in France as a home for premium content for wide audiences.
The streamer will also get access to new movies, which will land straight on the service in France without being released in local theaters and will be labeled Prime Video Exclusives. These include Gerard Butler title “Kandahar” directed by Ric Roman Waugh and “Kali,” Julien Seri’s (“Yamazaki”) action-packed revenge film starring Sabrina Ouazani. Prime Video also picked up “Kali” for Latin America, along with France.
The landmark deal will mark Prime Video’s most extensive pact signed with a French distribution company.

Blockbuster docu-series “Magellan’s Extraordinary Odyssey,” action thriller “The Devil’s Leap” and the Vincent Elbaz-led detective tale “Everybody Lies” were among distributor Clpb Rights’ hottest titles at this year’s Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Paris, with the three projects closing broadcast deals in key territories.
Executive produced by François Bertrand of Camera Lucida, listing Arte France, Belgica Films, Minimal Films, Serena Productions and co-producers, and directed by François de Riberolles, the epic miniseries “Magellan’s Extraordinary Odyssey” retraces the 16th century expedition that saw Fernando Magellan and an ever-dwindling number of sailors complete the first-ever trip around the world.
Boasting visuals from illustrator Ugo Bienvenu and sound design from Oscar winners Samy Bardet and Nicolas Becker (“Sound of Metal”), the program pulled in more than 1 million primetime viewers when it was broadcast on Arte last November, and has since sold to Rtbf (Belgium), Movistar (Spain), Axess TV (Sweden), Rts...

"These guys are pros." Vertical Entertainment has unveiled an official trailer for a thriller titled Darkness Falls, the latest from French filmmaker Julien Seri. This premiered at the Glasgow Film Festival earlier this year, and arrives on VOD in June. After his wife's suicide, Detective Jeff Anderson becomes convinced that she has been murdered. Obsessed with his own investigation, he finds out that his wife was the victim of a team of father-and-son serial killers and sets out to stop them before they kill more women. The film stars Shawn Ashmore as Detective Anderson, with Gary Gole, Richard Harmon, Daniella Alonso, Sonya Walger, Vahina Giocante, and Lin Shaye. This seems a bit derivative, but still looks like a solid thriller. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Julien Seri's Darkness Falls, direct from Vertical's YouTube: After his wife's suicide, Detective Jeff Anderson (Shawn Ashmore) becomes convinced that she has in fact been murdered.

I’ve been a big fan of actress Natalie Burn since her role in 2016’s Left to Die (aka Awaken). That film, which she also co-wrote, saw her take the lead role in a Most Dangerous Game-esque movie but be sidelined by the marketing materials who focused on the appearance of Vinnie Jones in the cast. And Acceleration does something very similar.
To the uninitiated Acceleration looks like yet another Dtv star-vehicle for Dolph Lundgren; hell, even the cast listing atop the DVD cover puts Sean Patrick Flanery, Lundgren and Chuck Liddell ahead of Burns. But this Is Burns’ film, she and her character are the driving force behind the action. It...

Ahead of the UK premiere of serial killer thriller Anderson Falls at Arrow Video FrightFest Glasgow 2020, director Julien Seri reflects on the his first ‘American’ experience, challenging fight scenes and the importance of personal vision.
It has been five years since we premiered Night Fare at FrightFest London, what have you been up to since then?
I worked on two, very singular, projects as a producer and/or director. I signed for both with Wild Bunch, but we’ve failed to produce them yet. So I keep fighting. And I did a lot of commercials, TV series and music videos.
When did you first hear about the Anderson Falls script and why did you think it was perfect for you to direct?
I received the script late 2017. I read it and said ‘yes’ in the same day. It was a perfect American experience for me because it was low budget,...

Even though Orlando Bloom has appeared in blockbuster spectacle trilogies like The Lord of The Rings, The Hobbit, and Pirates of the Caribbean, I've never really considered him a leading man action star. I love it when a movie subverts your expectations…
Following the traditional slasher movie framework, Night Fare sees two best friends, Luc and Chris, reunited after a year. A year they’ve spent apart for some (mysterious, to be revealed later) reason. With their relationship on a rocky ground, the pair are further strained by their love for the same woman, Ludivine. However those issues are the least of their worries after – whilst on their way to a party – they skip out of a Parisian taxi without paying the fare. Big mistake. This taxi driver doesn’t take to fare dodgers lightly and the mystery motorist hunts the duo down all night long killing everyone that gets in his way.

Call it the four-wheeled version of the dine-and-dash, that sudden impulse to simply hop out of a taxi and bolt without paying. What's the driver going to do, right? He can't very well just abandon his car, can he? It's an idea that's at least occurred to most at least once and it's exactly the scenario played out in Julien Seri's Night Fare. Director: Julien Seri. Review: Adam Wing. Ignoring the silly title for a moment, Sons Of The Wind: Bangkok Ninjas (aka 'The Great Challenge') combines the exhilarating sport of free running with mixed martial arts. It’s a parkour themed affair in the style of District 13, which reunites Les Groupe Yamakasi for ninety minutes of adrenaline-fuelled action. Julien Seri, who also worked on the original, takes the helm for this latest offering from Manga Entertainment. Sons Of The Wind is a globetrotting action-adventure that takes our heroes from the rooftops of London to Paris and Bangkok. Originally released in 2004, the movie is a companion piece of sorts to the 2001 hit Yamakasi – Les Samouraïs des Temps Modernes. Being an action movie from the producers of The Transporter, it won’t take long to figure out where this one is going. That’ll be up the sides of walls and over the rainbow then.
