Welcome to this week’s Impact Wrestling review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and…wrestling is cool. No weddings this week, which is good. Wrestling. Just have wrestling matches. No weddings! Okay. Wrestling. Now.
Match #1: Tenille Dashwood def. Madison Rayne & Kiera Hogan The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:
Kiera and Madison work together to do damage to Tenille but in the end, only one can win this 3-way match. Tenille attempts to fight back on multiple occasions but continues to fall victim to the numbers game. Kiera attempts a dive to the outside but Tenille pulls Madison in front of her. Tenille powerbombs Madison on top of Kiera for a near fall. Tenille sends Kiera to the outside, then connects with the Spotlight kick on Madison to win.
My Opinion: 2.4 out of 5 – Tenille won, which is what matters. There was nothing bad here, but not as much was great as…...

Welcome to this week’s Impact Wrestling review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a wedding at the climax of the show. Yeah, a wedding. Who would pay to see a wrestler get married when you could pay to see them fight some-one? Okay, let’s get to the marriage thing so I don’t have to talk about that ever again.
Match #1: Rob Van Dam & Rhino w/ Konnan def. The North (Ethan Page & Josh Alexander) The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:
Rhino attempts the Gore but Page cuts him off with a superkick. Rvd and Page spill to the outside with Rvd taking a nasty spill. The referee is checking on Rvd on the floor. Meanwhile, Alexander attempts to use the title as a weapon but Konnan stops him. Rhino connects with the Gore on Alexander, followed by a Five Star Frog Splash from Rvd to win.

With the WWE recently celebrating the Intercontinental Title on a WWE network special, Chris takes a look at the Ten Best WWE Intercontinental Champions Of All Time…
The Intercontinental Title in WWE has been, for most of its existence, a title that has helped take a mid-card talent and show them off in a bigger way, often transitioning them from the mid-card to the main event. It has been called “The Workhorse Title” by many, often being pointed to as the belt held and fought over by some of the more gifted technical wrestlers in the company. Growing up, it was always the Intercontinental strap that I looked forward to seeing defended on shows, whether it was “Macho Man” Randy Savage holding it, Bret “Hitman” Hart, Mr. Perfect or “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, it was usually a match that stole the show and was often held by a great worker.

So, I grew up watching wrestling. It’s been part of my life for most of my days. I started watching during the Hogan era, with guys like The Hulkster, Randy Savage and The Ultimate Warrior on top of the WWF. I saw the New Generation arrive, with guys like Bret Hart, Diesel and Shawn Michaels in the main event scene. I watched as The Attitude Era arrived, bringing with it a creative peak for pro-wrestling, and names such as Steve Austin, Mick Foley, The Rock, D-Generation X and The Undertaker driving the late 90s to incredible heights and creating an era that fans adored and still, in many circles and in many ways, long to see return. I still watch wrestling as much as I always have, and I love it.

Exclusive: Sports Illustrated TV’s Si Films and Mandalay Sports Media are teaming to produce Ufc 1: Origin of the Octagon, a feature-length documentary that traces the roots of the pro Mma league back to its tumultuous first event in 1993. A fall 2019 premiere on the Si TV digital network is in the works.
The docu, being directed by John Mason Gordon, explores the improbable story of Rorion Gracie and Art Davie, the two unlikely entrepreneurs who created the Ufc, eventually acquired in 2016 by Wme-img in a $4 billion deal.
Interviews with Mma icons including Jim Brown, Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Tellia Tuli, Art Jimmerson and Gerard Gordeau help tell the tale of how Rorion Gracie, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist, and Davie, a onetime used car salesman, teamed with Bob Meyrowitz’s pay-per-view company Seg to mount Ufc 1 in Denver and launch a sports phenomenon.

King Kong Bundy, who joined the original World Wrestling Federation in the early 1980s and participated in the first two WrestleMania events that helped launch the sport of pro wrestling into the pop culture mainstream, died Monday at age 61. The WWE confirmed the news Tuesday; the cause of death was not disclosed.
Bundy, whose real name was Christopher Pallies and hailed from Atlantic City, NJ, was 6-foot-4 and more than 450 pounds and would finish off most of his overmatched opponents with his signature “avalanche.”
“In fact, Bundy was so powerful that he demanded referees count to five when he pinned his opponents to show that there was no way they were getting up,” the WWE wrote today in a tribute on its website.
Bundy had been scheduled to sign autographs at next month’s WrestleCon in New York City.

Welcome to this week’s Major League Wrestling review, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get right to the action.
Match #1: New Era Hart Foundation defeated Rich Swann/Ach The following is courtesy of Mlw.com:
Teddy Hart and Davey Boy Smith Jr. are looking to make waves in Mlw as the New Era Hart Foundation, along with their young friend Brian Pillman Jr. Smith and Hart made waves in Mlw’s tag team division Friday night, scoring a victory over Rich Swann and Ach. Swann and Ach will be challenging the Lucha Bros. for the World Tag Team Championship next week. But one has to wonder where the Hart Foundation stands in the pecking order after their convincing – if not controversial – victory over Swann and Ach.
The Hart Foundation was in control of the contest early. But Ach was able to lock in a sharpshooter on Teddy Hart.

It’s that time of year again. Wrestlemania is soon upon us. This event has become the most important event in professional wrestling, showcasing the best of the best of the sport putting on the show of their lives. With Wrestlemania appearing this Sunday on the WWE Network, I thought I’d take the time to discuss my ten favorite Wrestlemania matches, matches that to me epitomize everything that is great about the event. Like any list, it is purely subjective so if you disagree with anything or feel I left something out, let’s discuss it in the comments below.
Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant- Wrestlemania 3
“The irresistible force meeting the immovable object!”
Without Wrestlemania 3, it’s possible that Wrestlemania could have gone the way of Starrcade. The first two Wrestlemania’s, while star studded and showing some glimpses of what the event eventually became, were more events of their time.

Professional fighter Kimbo Slice has died at 42. "Professional," however, was an adjective that really only described the latter half of Slice's life, the part that would rock the sport of mixed martial arts. The Bahamian Slice, né Kevin Ferguson, briefly attended the University of Miami (where he studied criminal justice) and had a tryout for the Miami Dolphins in 1997. For a stretch in 1994, he lived out of his truck. Throughout the 1990s, he worked variously as a bodyguard and limo driver for Rk Netmedia, a pornography company better known as Reality Kings. By 2003, he began participating in unsanctioned street fights in and around Miami.

I was, as I’m sure many of you reading this were, once a big fan of Tna wrestling. I was first introduced to Tna during the ‘Asylum’ years, when Tna taped weekly pay-per-views at the Nashville fairgrounds. Although some of it was pure trash, I was drawn to the cutting-edge X Division action and a few familiar faces from the past, such as Jeff Jarrett and Ken Shamrock.
I then watched as Tna organically grew, moving on to getting a TV deal and taping at Universal Studios. In 2005/06, I genuinely believed that Tna had the potential to become very successful and actually (at one point) felt as though Tna had a far more exciting roster of talent.
Guys like Samoa Joe, Aj Styles, Christopher Daniels, Abyss, Lax, Monty Brown and then Christian, Rhyno and Kurt Angle and co. really made you want to watch the product from week to week.

The influence mixed martial arts has had on pro wrestling, in terms of shaping in ring styles and leading pro wrestlers to jump ship to Mma, is far from a one way street. As much as the sport, still realistically in its infancy, has influenced promotions like the WWE, so too has the WWE influenced the rank and file of the Mma world, and particularly, the Ufc.
There’s no doubt about it: many Ufc stars grew up pro wrestling fans, because frankly, mixed martial arts as we know it today didn’t even exist until the early 90s, and even then, it was an underground sport. While that budding sport slowly grew into the multi-billion dollar business it is today, WCW and the WWE were there, serving as entertainment for young, up and coming gym rats.

Earlier today, WWE’s official Twitter account announced the newest inductee into the 2016 Hall of Fame class – Ray “Big Boss Man” Traylor.
One of the most beloved superstars of the late 1980s and early 1990s, Traylor first joined the company in 1988. A real-life ex-prison guard, Traylor was given the character of “The Big Boss Man” – a corrupt prison guard/law enforcement agent. He was a top heel for WWE until 1990, when he turned face and had well-remembered feuds with Mr. Perfect, The Mountie, and Nailz. He left the company in 1993, and after a brief tenure in All Japan Pro Wrestling, debuted in 1993. First called “The Boss,” Traylor subsequently took the names “The Guardian Angel” and “Big Bubba Rogers” following complaints from WWE.
In 1998, Traylor rejoined WWE, once again taking the “Big Boss Man” name. He changed his image, wearing a Swat-style uniform and serving as a personal bodyguard to Vince McMahon.

Ken Shamrock has had a seen it all, done it all sort of career. He has been a Ufc champion, and appeared in the first ever Ufc event. Kurt Angle has left Tna after nearly ten years with the promotion, and now the next step in his career has been announced. Angle will take on former adversary Rey Mysterio at Ur Fight’s March 20th event.
Ur Fight is a fledgling hybrid promotion mixing various forms of combat sports. Angle versus Mysterio (hyped as “one final match” between the two) is one quarter of a quadruple main event on the March show, to be held at Phoenix, Arizona’s Celebrity Theater. The other advertised matches include an Mma bout between legendary rivals Dan Severn and Ken Shamrock, a grappling match pitting Chael Sonnen against Michael Bisping, and boxing icon Roy Jones, Jr. taking on a fan with $100,000 on the line.
Angle and Mysterio clashed many times in WWE, with the multi-time Cruiserweight Champion taking on the Olympic Gold Medalist in Mysterio’s Pay-Per-View debut with the company.

Months back, during Bellator 145: Vengeance, Bellator Mma unveiled its newest big name connection to the pro wrestling world: Kurt Angle. Angle joined the Bellator Mma family that night, stepping into the broadcast booth to add his insights into the Bobby Lashley vs. James Thompson fight (the most watched bout of the evening, which Lashley handily won).
He was also immediately confronted with the obvious question: would he fight in Bellator? To make a long story short, Angle said he would consider it.
Now, he’s talking possible opponents, and he’s being pretty realistic about just who he wants to face.
Speaking to The Roman Show, Angle said he was not planning on fighting anyone in their prime (so you can probably eliminate a bout with Bobby Lashley), but was absolutely open to fighting an “Mma legend” – and he absolutely named names.

If you are a WWE fan over a certain age you’ll find it hard to believe that there are wrestling fans out there who don’t know who Owen Hart was… A wrestler who died way before his time, this release may be controversial but it is also a fitting tribute to one of the best wrestlers ever to enter the WWE ring. WWE Owen Hart: Hart of Gold takes a look at this career.
If you were watching the Over the Edge in 1999 you’ll always remember when the show suddenly came to an abrupt stop. Then the announcement that Owen Hart had been involved in an accident when descending down into the ring as the Blue Blazer. The show did go on, but with an atmosphere that no fan would forget. This went into the next night with Raw where Superstars paid their respects to one of their own.
