Disney is planning a Muppet Babies reboot, reviving the popular zany, infant-filled quasi-prequel of the 1980’s.
Even though Disney’s last attempt to bring The Muppets back to television resulted in an ABC series cancelled after a single season, plans are in the works for more small screen Muppets mayhem.

Disney Junior has announced that the one and only Muppet Babies will be getting the reboot treatment on the young children’s cable channel. While the original 1980’s CBS Saturday morning standard featured conventionally drawn animation, the upcoming reboot will instead manifest as a CGI-based series (as seen in the picture above), structuring each episode into a duo of 11-minute stories. Per the Disney Junior branding, the new Muppet Babies will be aimed at children ages 4-7.

The Muppet Babies are returning to television and I feel embarrassed to admit I'm excited about it. I remember watching the cartoon a lot as a kid and as soon as I saw the news, the theme song started playing in my head as if it never left:
Collider says the babies will return to television on Disney Jr., but this time in puppet form (seen in the header image above). I seem to remember the show being really good, but I wasn't even in school at the time, so I may be remembering it differently. The show is being worked on by Eric Shaw, who was a driving force behind SpongeBob SquarePants, so it sounds like the series is in good hands.
Am I weird? Are you excited for this? Please tell me you are.
