Dumped to VOD with little to no fanfare by its distributors, Eagle and the Albatross is one of those direct to market films I would unreservedly call a hidden gem. One whose trailer, thankfully (given thats the Only marketing I’ve seen for the film) had me sold straight away!
The film debut of K-pop star Amber Liu, Eagle and the Albatross tells the story of orphaned halfKorean girl, Ji-min, who finds herself in small town America with her only living relative. A fish out of water, Ji-min seeks out a mentor to help with the only thing she loves – golf. The best player in town, the widowed optometrist, takes her under his wing,...

In today’s film news roundup, Molly Shannon’s “Wild Nights with Emily” and Motke Dapp’s “Other Versions of You” get distribution, Robert Patrick is up for a role as an FBI agent and “Nutcracker” writer Ashleigh Powell signs with CAA.
Acquisitions
Greenwich Entertainment has bought “Wild Nights with Emily,’ a dramatic comedy about Emily Dickinson starring Molly Shannon.
The film, which had its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival, was written and directed by Madeleine Olnek. Greenwich will release the film theatrically early next year.
Shannon’s role captures the vivacious, irreverent side of the poet that was covered up for years — most notably Emily’s lifelong romantic relationship with another woman, using Dickinson’s own words.
“Madeleine’s witty, madcap yet poignant and absolutely necessary version of Emily’s life is an Emily we’ve never seen before, but one that has been hiding in plain sight all along,...

Daniel Baldwin has been eliminated from reality TV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! - just six days after he entered the Costa Rican jungle.
The actor joined his brother Stephen Baldwin in the survival competition last week as one of the replacements for The Hills stars Heidi and Spencer Pratt following their initial walk out on 1 June.
But he failed to win over the public and was voted off the U.S. programme on Thursday night, becoming the fifth person to leave the show and only the second star to be evicted by viewers.
Before his elimination, Baldwin was given the opportunity to speak to his pregnant wife Joanne Smith-Baldwin and his 16-month-old daughter Avis Ann via a video phone call.
And he can't wait to get back to California and leave the less-than-luxurious surroundings of the jungle behind him - in a message to his spouse, he said, "Coming home babe."
Baldwin was competing on the show to raise money for his mother's charity, The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund.
Comedienne Angela Shelton was the first star to be voted off the show last week (ends05Jun09) and The Pratts quit the jungle for good after Heidi fell ill last weekend (06-07Jun09).

Daniel Baldwin may be a late addition to "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!" but he is one to leave early. On the Thursday, June 11 elimination night, the brother of fellow contestant Stephen Baldwin was publicly voted out although he only stayed for 9 out of 11 days. "Coming home babe," Daniel said referring to his pregnant wife, Joanne. "See you guys."
The actor was playing for his mother's breast cancer charity, The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund. Upon his departure, Holly Montag hugged and promised him that she would help the charity. "Whatever we can do for your mom's organization," Holly said. "Great cause."
He was the second to leave the competition after the eviction of comedienne Angela Shelton last week. Angela's working partner Frances Callier withdrew on the eight day, roughly the same time celebrity couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt voluntarily walked out of the competition for the third time.

Frances Callier has withdrawn from I'm A Celebrity following the exit of her comedy partner Angela Shelton. Following Shelton's departure, Callier announced to her fellow celebrities that she had decided to quit the jungle. The Hills duo Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have also pulled out of the show following Montag's hospitalisation with a gastric ulcer. At the end of Monday's show, the celebrities were participating (more)...

NBC's "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here," now has one of the participants, Heidi Montag Pratt, in hospital with severe hurling, due to an alleged ulcer. Pardon us while we view the whole scenario with a fish eye. The two were reeled back and put in a room infested with vermin by NBC after they "quit" to "punish" them for being so "difficult." NBC brass went on record that they wanted Speidi to grovel to get back on the show that just bid adieu to comic Angela Shelton, and featured a sick Janice Dickinson hocking up a lung while Stephen Baldwin was joined by Daniel, his big brother last week. "Hills" star Heidi Montag Pratt was rushed...

They tried to quit the jungle in Costa Rica three times, but newly undeterred Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt spent the night in the dreaded 'Lost Chamber' while waiting for the cast of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! to vote on their possible return. The attention-starved pair thought they would be surrounded in the dark by creepy crawlies as they were in an earlier challenge, but this time around, "What we did was a far more interesting psychological experiment," says Paul Telegdy, NBC's executive vice president of alternative programming. In scenes likely to be shown on Monday's episode,...
