Tracy Sim
- Camera and Electrical Department
Tracy David Sim was born in Moses Lake, Washington State on September 16th, 1962. The son of Canadian parents, John Francis Sim, a school teacher and football coach, and Sandra Lucile Sim, a homemaker. Growing up in a small agriculture town of just under ten thousand people at the time in a more innocent time fostered his active imagination. A shoe box, Popsicle sticks, dirt, and Hot Wheels cars were all that was needed to create his early live action blockbusters. His father was from a family of fishers and the call of the sea moved the family north to Coquitlam, BC, a suburb of Vancouver, in 1972. Tracy excelled in art and photography, graduating with honors and later went to art school in Vancouver from 1981 to 1985. He took a film course in art school and indulged in the history of cinema. The film industry was new to Vancouver in the 80s and he worked with cameras for a number of years, up to around 2011. In that time, he worked as a first assistant camera operator and a digital imaging technician with IATSE. He made several field trips to Los Angeles over the years while working for a number of productions (many more than the ones listed here) over a 25-year period. Tracy has been actively writing for film and television for over 30-years with several completed projects in multiple genres.
