Charlize Theron excels as an action lead in this cold war spy story, adapted from graphic novel The Coldest City
I can’t think of any actor more deserving of their own pulpy action franchise than Charlize Theron. Having stolen Mad Max: Fury Road from Tom Hardy one-handed (literally), she is relentlessly, murderously brilliant in this adaptation of Antony Johnston’s graphic novel The Coldest City. The setting is Berlin just before the fall of the Wall; the paranoid hangover of the cold war is giving way to a new era of hungry opportunism. A British agent has been murdered; a valuable list is missing. And MI5 asset Lorraine Broughton (Theron, looking like Debbie Harry dipped in venom) is flown in to clear up the mess. There she butts heads with fellow agent David Percival (James McAvoy, skeevy-sexy, accessorised with beer sweats and casual treachery) and has a fling with...

Our Batman week rolls on with a look back at some of the music video tie-ins from the Caped Crusader's past.
Christopher Nolan's recent Dark Knight trilogy may have brought some credibility back to Batman on the big screen, but there was nary a chart-topping single in sight. This wasn't the case with the Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher films, which spawned new music from the likes of Prince, U2 and Seal. We take a look at 6 of them below...
1. Prince - 'Batdance' (1989)
Prince recorded an entire album for Tim Burton's Batman as Warner Bros pulled out all the stops for its big budget relaunch of the character in the '80s. The LP spawned five singles in total, the lead being this Us number one 'Batdance'. It's a crazy, anarchic track that throws together rock, dance and funk... we imagine Jack Nicholson's Joker would approve.
2. Siouxsie and the Banshees...

Rebelling against your parents, boy bands who want to look manly and proving your love to the girl you have known for two weeks. Some of the reasons for getting a tattoo have to be water tight.
Declaring your love for a film, TV show or musician is perfectly acceptable but you have to make sure the tattoo you choose to have permanently inked onto your skin is not something you will end up regretting. I speak with some degree of personal experience, having, in my early 20′s, got ”I’d buy that for a dollar” on my arm to show the average train commuter (who doesn’t care) how much of a fan I am of RoboCop.
But as much as I might regret getting the line from the Paul Verhoeven classic tattooed on my arm, it’s nothing compared to these disasters that people have had etched onto various parts of their body.

We’re on the eve of a brand new Batman blockbuster, next month’s “The Dark Knight Rises,” which will feature Anne Hathaway as the semi-villainous cat burglar Selina Kyle who prowls the streets at night as Catwoman. While Christopher Nolan and co. have given some real-world explanations for her eccentricities (her night vision goggles prop up on her head like cat’s ears), the hardest task in defining Catwoman for a new generation will be getting out from under the shadow of Michelle Pfeiffer, whose portrayal in Tim Burton’s “Batman Returns” remains one of the towering performances in all of comic book moviedom.
Today marks 20 years since the release of “Batman Returns” on June 19th, 1992, so we thought we’d celebrate by taking some more skeletons out of Bruce Wayne’s very crowded closet, with five things you might not know about the bat-sequel.
1. Robin Was Almost In This One.
