By now you probably all know I have a soft spot for ridiculous shark movies, be they from Roger Corman, The Asylum, Syfy or anyone else… Which is why I always Have to subject myself to whatever treasures this disparate genre provide. Be it a Zombie Shark, Ghost Shark, Sharknado, Sharktopus, a 3-Head Shark, a Swamp Shark etc., etc…. whatever!?!
This time round we’ve got killer sharks and an environmental message in Ice Sharks. A Syfy channel originjal movie from The Asylum (so its a low-budget double-header) which sees a team of expert scientists are studying the effects of climate change on marine life at a research station deep in the Arctic. Suddenly, out of nowhere, hell breaks loose when a new breed of aggressive, ravenous sharks suddenly crack through...

The eight arms of a giant octopus could not stop him. The mighty jaws of Crocosaurus proved no match for him. If Mega Shark is The Asylum’s very own Godzilla, then it should come as no shock that the next logical step in this franchise would be Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark.
The battle between the ocean’s ultimate apex mega predator and his aquatic android doppelganger begins on Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD January 28th.
FX guru Emile Edwin Smith directs from a script by Jose Prendes (The Haunting of Whaley House) as Elisabeth Rohm (“Angel”, “Law & Order”), Christopher Judge (“Stargate Sg-1”, Age of Hobbits), and original Mega Shark heroine Debbie Gibson contend with the Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla of Asylum monsterdom.
Going by the trailer, the movie is either about the military building a giant robot Megalodon shark to kill the mega shark once and for all, or it...

“Crazy, no way.” That's what visual effects supervisor Emile Smith thought when he first read the script for Sharknado, Asylum’s campy 90-minute movie about a shark-infested tornado that wreaks havoc on Los Angeles and took social media by storm when it debuted Thursday night on Syfy channel. Story: 'Sharknado' Director on Secrets, Sequels and Success of the Social Media Sensation When he started to discuss the production with director Anthony Ferrante, the brief was to make it over-the-top. “They didn’t want to make fun of themselves in the script, but they wanted it to be absurd

So, did you catch Sharknado last night, or did you DVR it to watch with other Syfy aficionados on Saturday and comment via social media? In either case, we have a Q&A with director Anthony Ferrante and star Tara Reid to share. Beware of minor spoilers if you fall in the latter category.
Syfy recently hosted a conference call with the pair, and they're both pretty damn entertaining. Just like the film itself! They discuss how much fun they had working on it, the challenges of pulling off something so batshit nuts with their limited budget and time frame, CGI vs. practical effects, the level of gore, and whole lot more. Check it out, and if you missed it, read our Sharknado review here.
Q: This looks like a lot of fun; combining a tornado with sharks is a pretty cool thing. Did you try to use practical sharks...
