You know how some genre films just have strange backgrounds? People involved that you’d never believe would have anything to do with a horror film? Getaway is one of those films… You see this film is co-written and directed by Lane Toran. Who’s he you might ask? He’s only the voice of Arnold in the classic Nickelodeon cartoon Hey Arnold! and the voice of King Bob in Recess! Yes, a former childrens TV star turns genre filmmaker, its’ safe to say Getaway is worlds apart from those roles – but Toran isn’t the first to make the jump from kids TV to horror and he won’t be the last.

Ayesha Curry isn’t too upset that Donald Trump has disinvited the Golden State Warriors to the White House over comments made by her husband Stephen Curry.
The 28-year-old chef and cookbook author responded to the president with an eyeroll emoji on Twitter after he tweeted Saturday morning that Stephen and the 2017 NBA finals champs are not welcome for a visit.
“Donate to earthquake relief here,” Ayesha wrote, focusing her priorities instead on raising money for Unicef in response to the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that ripped through Mexico City earlier this week and the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that hit southern Mexico Saturday.

The immediate backlash President Trump faced on Tuesday only intensified overnight after he doubled down on his assertion that “both sides” were to blame for deadly violence at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
“There are two sides to a story,” Trump insisted on Tuesday, echoing the widely denounced comments he made Saturday, as the violence was unfolding in Virginia.
There were “a lot of bad people in the other group too,” he added in reference to the anti-racist protesters demonstrating against the rally, one of whom, 32-year-old Heather Heyer, was killed when a driver rammed his car into a group of the counter-protesters.

Sheriff Brings Up Trump and Black-on-Black Crime While Defending Joe McKnight Shooting Investigation
In a fiery and bizarre 50-minute news conference Tuesday morning, the Louisiana sheriff investigating the shooting death of former NFL player Joe McKnight held forth at length about the criticism his department has faced; about race relations and “black-on-black” crime; and what he called the shameful behavior of some witnesses and the public.
The remarks — nominally focused on a recent arrest in McKnight’s death — swerved passionately and erratically among many topics. Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand appeared visibly angry as he defended authorities from criticism. At one point he described the actions of both the suspect and victim as “bad behavior.

A New York Times story about Donald Trump’s immigration plan received so much criticism from media watchdogs, that the paper eventually made changes to the story after it was published online. Times reporter Patrick Healy said Trump was “shelving his plan to deport 11 million undocumented people.” But this doesn’t exactly coincide with Trump remarks on Wednesday night in Arizona. MTV News senior national correspondent Jamil Smith was among those who bashed the Times story on Twitter. That @patrickhealynyt story is a systematic failure. How does he write that? How does an editor let that pass? — Jamil Smith (@JamilSmith...

Has MSNBC cancelled the Melissa Harris-Perry TV show, or is the host pulling the plug on her weekend talk show? Right now, it looks like a little bit of both. The network keeps preempting the program for live election coverage. Now, Perry has refused to read news for MSNBC during these preemptions and is speaking out to her staff on Medium, via friend and former show producer, Jamil Smith, an MTV News Senior National Correspondent.
Usually, the possible cancellation of a news or talk show would not rate at TV Series Finale, because what we are after here is closure -- some sort of resolution for the viewing audience. That is not typically an issue where news or talk shows are concerned. It is one, though, in this case. One of the reasons Harris-Perry is speaking...

One day after Rolling Stone published his clandestine interview with Mexican drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán Loera, Sean Penn has received social media backlash from many journalists - and is reportedly under investigation by the Mexican government. Penn's piece on Guzmán was published Saturday night, one day after the Sinaloa cartel head's recapture by authorities. But Penn said his contact with Guzmán was last year, when the cartel head was then a fugitive after his escape from federal prison in July. The Rolling Stone piece - already the No. 1 most-read item on its website - is additionally prefaced with...

Hey Arnold!'s TV movie now has a title - Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie - and will feature Alfred Molina...
Hey, football head! Back in November, Variety confirmed that Nickelodeon is developing a new Hey Arnold! TV movie, which will "feature a storyline that picks up where the original series ended and resolves unanswered plotlines–including the whereabouts of Arnold’s parents, long missing from the program."
Today, Variety has unleashed a few more Hey Arnold! scoops. We now know that the TV movie sequel to the original series is going by the title Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie and that Alfred Molina is among its cast.
Spider-Man 2's Doc Ock actor will play Lasombra, "an infamous river pirate operating from a secret compound in the jungles of San Lorenzo."
Mason Vale Cotton is the new voice of Arnold, while the original Arnold - Lane Toran - will lend his voice to 'several other roles'. Who wants to bet that one of them is Arnold's dad?
Much of the original cast is returning, too. Francesca Marie Smith will reprise Helga, Anndi McAfee will play Phoebe again, Justin Shenkarow returns as Harold, Olivia Hack is back as Rhonda, and Nika Futterman is Olga once more.
The original voice of Gerald - Jamil Smith - has been replaced by Benjamin Flores Jnr. Smith, like Mr Toran, will voice some other characters.
We'll let you know when we get a release date or a trailer for The Jungle Movie, which is being helmed by Hey Arnold!'s creator Craig Bartlett.

So, George Takei called Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas a "clown in blackface" for writing the following passage in his dissent on last week's historic gay marriage ruling: Human dignity has long been understood in this country to be innate. When the Framers proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence that “all men are created equal” and “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,” they referred to a vision of mankind in which all humans are created in the image of God and therefore of inherent worth. That vision is the foundation upon which this Nation was built. The corollary of that principle is that human dignity cannot be taken away by the government. Slaves did not lose their dignity (any more than they lost their humanity) because the government allowed them to be enslaved. Those held in internment camps did not lose their dignity because the government confined them.
