It’s been roughly a quarter century since the men of Sheffield, England, danced onstage going The Full Monty, and a lot has happened. In FX’s limited series, you won’t see any steelworkers stripping to “You Sexy Thing.” “No one wants to see that,” star Robert Carlyle says, laughing. Despite retaining the 1997 film’s title, the eight-episode comedic drama from original writer Simon Beaufoy shines a light on new challenges faced by the local community and its rascally inhabitants, raising awareness around education and poverty. Here’s why this chapter, full of heart, is worth a look. (Credit: Ben Blackall/FX) 1. Everyone’s back! “It was a bit like putting on a comfortable jacket,” Mark Addy says of stepping back into his role as sweet Dave alongside Carlyle’s Gaz and Lesley Sharp’s Jean. Also appearing: Tom Wilkinson (crabby Gerald), Hugo Speer (well-endowed Guy), Paul Barber (dance...

The entire cast of 1997’s feel-good hit “The Full Monty” is back for Hulu’s new series of the same name — even Wim Snape, who played young Nathan at age 11, returns to play the much more sensible son of Robert Carlyle’s charming but unreliable Gaz. But some things are different this time around as the crew reunites for the Hulu sequel series (which drops June 14), with Oscar-nominated scripter Simon Beaufoy co-writing with Alice Nutter.
The series finds the crew still trying various get-rich schemes with mixed to dismal results. The movie, which saw the unemployed steelworkers of Sheffield secretly becoming strippers to raise some cash — and their low self-esteem —ended on a high as the lads gave the enthusiastic hometown audience “the full monty,” that is, full frontal nudity.

Following in the tradition of much-loved movies like Muriel’s Wedding and Bridesmaids, it’s a gritty yet heartfelt romcom about finding true love, with a colourful cast of characters and familiar stars from the big and small screens.
When Bridget Jones-type Janet wins the trip of a lifetime to a holiday park in Rhyl, she’s convinced by her best friend to pretend to be the opposite of who she actually is in the hope of finding love. But it’s only when she becomes herself again that Janet gets anywhere close to her happy ever after.
The film stars a very British cast of Katy Clayton, James Lance, Lucy Pinder, Will Mellor, Tyger Drew-Honey, Larry Lamb, Wim Snape and more.
