In a blog post, George R. R. Martin offered an update on future television projects related to the world of Westeros. The Song of Ice and Fire writer offered updates on several television projects based on his works.
Martin announced that the projects will be animated after praising Blue Eyed Samurai as one of the best shows of 2023.
“As it happens, HBO and I have our own animated projects, set in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire,” he wrote. “None of them have been greenlit yet, but I think we are getting close to taking the next step with a couple of them. When this last round of development started a few years back, we had four ideas for animated shows, with some great talents attached. Writers rooms and summits, outline and scripts followed in due course… but, alas, two of the original projects were subsequently shelved.

How wrong one was, as the first cricket legend, Dr. W.G. Grace, when bowled out by the first ball he faced, decided to put the bails back and continue batting. His retort to the umpire was that the crowd had come to see him and not the bowler and certainly not the umpire!
The Ashes battle between England and Australia soon developed into a fierce encounter in which winning became a very important factor. The spirit of cricket was tarnished in the 1932/33 series by the England captain, Douglas Jardine, when he introduced the ‘Bodyline’ to stop the run-scoring Australian machine, Sir Donald Bradman.
The Bodyline series buried the spirit of the game completely. Jardine, if looked at in the present context, played according to the rules. His strategy after intense research and detailed planning could have been made into a Harvard case study. However, his tactics even though he was successful,...

This article contains She-Hulk spoilers
Apart from Wanda Maximoff, few people have had as much trouble in love as Jennifer Walters in the Marvel Cinematic. Across eight episodes of She-Hulk, we’ve watched Tatiana Maslany’s hotshot lawyer be mocked as little more than a “specimen” by a rogue’s gallery of mediocre males. However, in October 6’s “Ribbit and Rip It,” we saw Jen stick a middle finger to the patriarchy with a deep cut to toxic tropes in pop culture.
Apart from winks like Eternals’ Ikaris bring compared to Superman, the MCU tends to avoid Easter eggs to DC. She-Hulk already walked the line with a nippled costume from Luke Jacobson (Griffin Matthews) being a potential nod to the infamous Batman & Robin suits, but if you were listening carefully, you might’ve heard a Green Lantern Easter egg. After doing the deed with Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Jen...

“Game of Thrones” may have ended its record-breaking run on HBO in 2019, but the fantasy franchise based on George R.R. Martin’s beloved books is just getting started. HBO is developing a multitude of spin-offs set in and around Westeros, including several animated series, but “House of the Dragon” got the ball rolling. The prequel series, which is set 250 years before the events of the original show and details the early history of the House of Targaryen, was tasked with proving to viewers that the world of Westeros could continue to live on outside of “Game of Thrones.”
If it’s record-breaking premiere numbers are any indicator, “House of the Dragon” has succeeded at that goal. The blockbuster series has received relatively positive reviews, even if most critics seem to agree that it hasn’t quite reached the highs of the show that inspired it. Over 25 million fans seem to...

John Snow of "Game of Thrones" aka Kit Harington is reportedly set to make his Broadway debut alongside actress Anne Hathaway.

The first play is reportedly about the notoriously toxic relationship between actress Tippi Hedren and late director Alfred Hitchcock, with Hathaway in talks to play Hedren.
The second part will feature Harington as a young man who idolises horror star Vincent Price, before learning his idol is not the man he thought he was.
The two plays have been penned by John Logan, a screenwriter who worked on the last two James Bond movies -- "Skyfall" and "Spectre".

When Brett Ratner recently went after Rotten Tomatoes, he said the art of film criticism had disappeared and that low Tomatometer scores are keeping “middle America” from seeing blockbusters like “Superman V Batman.” There’s an idea inherent to Ratner’s argument that we keep seeing: When film publications, critics, and cinephiles take digs at modern Hollywood action filmmaking, it is seen in highbrow vs. lowbrow terms.
The truth is serious movie lovers still love a well-choreographed action scene, and recent examples such as “Logan,” “Fury Road,” “Pete’s Dragon” and “Baby Driver” have not gone unappreciated.

Game of Thrones Season 7 has a premiere date!
The highly anticipated new season of the HBO fantasy epic will debut on July 16, 2017.
The news was confirmed via a live Facebook video, which found the date submerged in ice.
Facebook users were given a task by Isaac Hempstead Wright to comment with the word, "Fire" to take the wall of ice down to reveal the premiere date.
Lena Headey, Gwendoline Christie and Alfie Allen later appeared in the video promoting the benefits of melting the ice.

Game Of Thrones is far from over, and even though we have a short season this year, season 8's six episode length may not be set in stone. As soon as it was revealed that season 7 and season 8 would be shorter in length, many fans sighed and kicked up grass, much like Rocket Racoon did in Guardians Of The Galaxy. But fear not my friends, this could change. In an interview with EW, HBO programming president Casey Bloys informed the public that season 8 may give us a little more.
“They’re still figuring out the shape of the season, what they want to do, I’ll take as many as they want to do. If they give me eight, I’ll want 10. But it’s really up to them. They’ll let me know.”

In a big TV Insider piece about HBO, covering everything from Jon Stewart, to Sesame Street, to Game of Thrones' John Snow, the premium channel's CEO, Richard Plepler, dropped a little Larry David tease that is more likely to incite, rather than curb, fans' enthusiasm about a ninth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
After eight seasons, David effectively cancelled Curb Your Enthusiasm, by putting it on an indefinite hiatus. The season eight finale aired September 11, 2011. When asked by TV Insider if the audience can expect to see season nine of David's Curb Your Enthusiasm, Plepler said, "Larry knows that when he’s ready, we’re ready."

Jughead #1
Written by Chip Zdarsky
Art by Erica Henderson
Letters by Jack Morelli
Published by Archie Comics
Erica Henderson and Chip Zdarsky’s incarnation of this classic Archie book launches the titular sidekick as the most unlikely of heroes. Zdarsky revives Archie’s sarcastic, egocentric best friend with his distinct brand of petulant humor. Though it may be classified as a ‘kids’ comic, Jughead potentially offers the most enjoyment for a different demographic. That is not to say Jughead lacks the intrinsic, whimsical joy found in other Archie books. Rather, Zdarsky’s not-so-subtle allusions are simply more likely to be appreciated by an audience familiar with mature pop-culture content.
Upon learning that the new principle, Mr. Stanger, has mandated only “high-nutrition gruel” be served at the cafeteria, Jughead dramatically falls unconscious. In an indulgent and unconventional poke at a certain popular fantasy drama, Jughead’s dream narrative, titled “Jughead in Game of Jones,...

Like a sniper shot you never saw coming, Spooks: The Greater Good arrives in cinemas this weekend, four years after the BBC show finished its tenth series on television. It was one of those spy dramas that, what it lacked in 24’s frenetic stylings, made up for in good honest intelligence work. It was less flashy, less shouty and all the more realistic for it. As befalls any TV show when it tries to supersize itself to the cinema screen (not even 24 managed it in the end) the larger canvas needs a larger story and a much larger budget. Every cinematic spy thriller over the last decade, namely the Bond and Bourne movies have three things, a killer lead, lots of great action set pieces and globetrotting locations. In measuring up, Spooks scores only the first with Kit Harington certainly bringing his leading man brooding looks and locks (with his...

Another New Year has come with 2015 - a calendar question mark that sparkles with new possibilities, hopes dreams, and endless optimism for a future not yet written.

But the fact that season five is barely less than half a year away does not mean we cannot start getting hyped and excited now. Much of the Internet spent Wednesday and Thursday mourning the news that Harry Shearer, who voices roughly a third of Springfield's citizens, was leaving the cast of The Simpsons.
Shearer's departure raises any number of questions about what's going to happen to the characters he voiced, and indeed, the future of the show in general. And that's a shame, because we're hard-pressed to think of another show with as recognizable and familiar a style as The Simpsons. Family Guy comes close, but it's still far off.
Which is what's so cool about this collection of art from DeviantArt user Adn-z.

The Simpsons enters its 26th season Sept. 28. Pause and try to absorb that information. Good? Okay. Now think about how recognizable and familiar the style of The Simpsons actually is: Can you think of another animated series from the past quarter-decade of American animation that's quite as iconic? Family Guy comes close, but it's still far off. Which is what's so cool about this collection of art from DeviantArt user Adn-z. Fresh from capturing (and nearly tearing out) the heart of John Snow on "Game of Thrones" as Ygritte, Rose Leslie is getting set to unleash her wild ways on yet another hero. We speak of Vin Diesel in his new flick, The Last Witch Hunter.
Breck Eisner is directing the film, which sees a semi-immortal witch hunter (Diesel) wandering the streets of modern New York City who is forced to partner with his natural enemy, a female witch (Leslie). The two must stop a villainous witch queen from obtaining a relic and unleashing a plague upon humanity.
Mark Canton is producing via his Mark Canton Productions banner along with Bernie Goldmann and Diesel via his One Race Entertainment banner. Erik Feig, Geoff Shaevitz, and Matthew Janzen oversee the project for the studio.
Synopsis
Five hundred years ago, war raged between humankind and witches, vicious supernatural creatures intent on unleashing the Black Death upon the world.

Game of Thrones, HBO’s hit medieval-fantasy series, will likely wrap up with its seventh season.
'Game Of Thrones' To Air 7 Seasons
Game of Thrones showrunners – David Benioff and Dan Weiss – believe that seven seasons will allow them to complete the small screen adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire book series.
“It feels like this is the midpoint for us,” Benioff told Entertainment Weekly. “If we’re going to go seven seasons, which is the plan, season 4 is right down the middle, the pivot point.”
Seven seasons has been the loose plan for the showrunners from the start. After all, the number seven reoccurs frequently throughout Martin’s beloved series.
“I would say it’s the goal we’ve had from the beginning,” Benioff said. “It was our unstated goal, because to start on a show and say your goal is seven seasons is the height of lunacy.

Since Game of Thrones premiered on HBO fans have been salivating for action figures based on the property. In the past couple of years there have been some decent statues released, but who the heck wants a statue of Tyrion Lannister when you could have a fully armored, fully articulated, battleaxe wielding Tyrion from the Battle of the Black Water?
Funko, mostly known for their Pop Vinyl line, has made a seemingly good transition into the fully articulated action figure market. Similar to Hasbro’s 6″ Star Wars Black series, Funko aims to bring fans collector friendly packaging and figures. How the actual final product turns out remains to be seen. Recent companies that have scored big licenses such as The Bridge Direct with the Hobbit and Spin Master with Tron Legacy have completely dropped the ball and produced some of the worst figures in recent memory, so the jury is...

[Spoilers- If you're new to Thrones, I wouldn't read on if I were you.]
Gracing our screens since 2011, Game of Thrones has been HBO’s biggest budget, most ambitious, and -thankfully- most viewed show since its debut. It has become that popular that across the pond Sky have snapped it up for their additional subscription channel Sky Atlantic and broadcast it the day after it airs in the states in order to cash in on the show’s resounding success.
But now we’re into the business end of the third season, the show is now well established, and possibly getting too big for its boots? This season added the Brotherhood Without Banners, as well as a handful of new characters to an already bulging roster, with an increasing number of plots and subplots spanning the whole of George R.R. Martin’s richly visualised land of fantasy.
In the very much action driven season one, we had Sean Bean as Ned Stark, whom we...

Last week’s podcast was basically the first part of a catch-up with characters after the events of season two, and this week Ricky seems much more prepared despite the glut of new characters added in. Les Chappell from the Av Club joins us to discuss the development of some of the more familiar characters, fleshing out the motivations of Brienne and Arya and Lady Olenna, to name a few. Meanwhile Kate continues to express her frustration with John Snow and helps explain the head-spinning assortment of scenes and characters both old and new.

Game of Thrones returns for season 3 tonight on HBO, pit against The Walking Dead which will air its third season finale in the same time slot on AMC.
Here are a few Focus Points on tonight’s return to Westeros and the lands beyond. Spoilers are kept to a minimum.
- John Snow leads off the premiere. He’ll meet the king beyond the wall and make an important decision about his future as he sets his sights on the white walkers.
- Remember when Tyrion stated that all dwarves are bastards in the eyes of their fathers? In Season 2, Tyrion proved his worth as a Lannister. After he was sent to Kings Landing to serve as hand of the king, in the absence of Tywin, Tyrion showed his commitment to his family’s name. He may have brought a whore to court, but he also defended the city against an attack by Stannis Baratheon.

From Daenerys’ platinum tresses to Khal Drogo’s foxy eyeshadow, we’re obsessed with each Game of Thrones character’s signature look (so ripe for Comic Con costuming!). They seem so unique, but here’s the thing — outside the mythical borders of Westeros exist real-life people who look exactly like them. Exactly.
In honor of Got’s long-awaited Season 3 premiere, let’s take an ultra-nerdy look at our favorite characters in all of the Seven Kingdoms — and their mirror image counterparts! You won’t believe who we matched up with John Snow. Don’t hate us.

Let the countdown to the aftermath begin.
Game of Thrones Season 3 is officially in production. After a beheading, the return of dragons, and a Lannister victory, life has become a dismal place if you’re a Northerner.
When the series returns, we’ll be looking forward to what the future holds for some of our favorite characters, including: Tyrion, Daenerys, Aria and John Snow. Hopefully, Snow will find a way to meet up with Rob (no Spoilers book fans).
As for Joffrey… well… let’s just say he’s not a favorite.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO for its third season on March 31st, 2013.

Ever since the Ps Move was first introduced for the Playstation 3, it seemed like Sony was trying to offer gamers the bastard child controller to Nintendo’s Wii-mote. Consider it the Game of Thrones‘ John Snow of gaming controllers, only Sony didn’t send it to the wall like Eddard Stark did his bastard. Sure, it fixed several problems that Nintendo eventually added into later iterations of its controller, such as the gyroscope introduced with Wii Motion Plus. However, unlike the Xbox 360 Kinect, gamers saw the Ps Move as merely Sony’s way of following suit with Nintendo rather than innovating the gaming market.
At E3, Sony showed us just how far it was ready to push the Ps Move. Instead of forgetting about the motion controller or just offering it as a tack on to shooter games, via the Sharpshooter, the Ps Move finally found its niche with J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter.

Last year, when New York Times writer Gina Bellafante reviewed HBO's "Game of Thrones," there were a few lines that stuck out from the rest, leading to quite a bit of backlash. After describing the show as a "costume-drama sexual hopscotch," she notes that "[t]he true perversion ... is the sense you get that all of this illicitness has been tossed in as a little something for the ladies, out of a justifiable fear, perhaps, that no woman alive would watch otherwise." In other words, the show's ideal audience would be Dungeons & Dragons-loving guys and the show's creators had merely thrown in a few trinkets to try to attract women. As we approach the season-two premiere, let me assure you -- as a female fan of both the TV show and the books -- that this assessment was wrong. "Game of Thrones" is hugely appealing to women, at least those who are into good storytelling,...

The other day I spent the best part of an hour mindlessly browsing through the TV box sets at HMV before I remembered why I had gone there in the first place; to ascertain the release date of HBO’s Game of Thrones Season 1 on Blu-ray. According to the girl at the counter their computers said 2013, which basically means, “We have no bloody idea.”
My searches on the Internet have proved equally as fruitless. I’m a little disappointed at this, because I’ve been hanging out to re-watch the series as it was meant to be seen – in crisp 1080p. The best estimate I’ve found comes from http://www.westeros.org, an invaluable resource for all things A Song of Ice and Fire, who are suggesting the 19th March as a viable date (UK). I was hoping that this article would coincide with the blu-ray release but since...

I am quite excited to think that maybe a film has been created in my lifetime that portrays science as the fascinating intellectual journey that it is, and portrays scientists as something other than evil megalomaniacs or bumbling near-sighted idiots
There was a time -- a very long time -- in my life when I aspired to be a "virus hunter." My dream job was to travel to the ends of the earth in search of the secret caverns and forests where deadly viruses sequestered themselves, in the company of bats and birds and spiders and far away from prying human eyes and DNA sequencing equipment. After earning my bachelor's degree in Microbiology (with a special focus in Virology) and then working in cancer research for two years, I realised my true passion: I wanted to seek out the exotic, the unknown, whether it was deadly viruses or rare birds or strange cuisines and languages.

Let me start off by saying that I am not a fan of medieval fantasy and I had not read or even heard of the book series until I learnt that HBO was adapting it into a TV series. I was not planning on watching it, but I gave into the hype that was created around the show and watched it over the weekend. After watching the show, I can safely say that I am glad I did. Maybe the show might appeal to fans of the book series or to fans of medieval fantasy immediately, but it took me a few episodes. But it did impress me... a lot. It took a few episodes for me to fully understand the premise of the show which is quite elaborate and richly detailed. There are some really interesting stories to follow here, but it’s in the second half of the...

Westeros, here we come! The wait for the April 17th premiere of HBO's Game of Thrones grows ever shorter, as HBO continues preparing audiences by releasing individual character featurettes of the fantasy series' major players.
Up fourth is Michelle Fairley's Catelyn Tully Stark, the wife of Ned Stark, who gave birth his five children though regards John Snow as an outsider and harbors a deep-seated resentment for Ned as a result. Despite her peaceful nature, Catelyn finds her becoming a warrior in defense of the throne.
The series, once again premiering on HBO Sunday April 17th stars Sean Bean as Eddard "Ned" Stark, and boasts an otherwise impressive cast comprised of Mark Addy, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey and a host of others all vying for the iron throne of the fictional Westeros.
Check out Michelle Fairley discussing the role of Catelyn Stark below, and after you're done head over...
