- Although many fans may not know her name, Marilyn Sokol is a familiar face on television and in films. Perhaps best known for her work on the stage, she has appeared in "Fiddler on the Roof" at St. Louis MUNY, "Candide" at The Goodman Theatre, "Death Trap" at The Papermill Theatre; "The Sisters Rosenweig", "He Looks Good in a Hat", and "Light Up the Sky" at The Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Off-Broadway credits include "The Beggar's Opera" and "Merry Wives of Windsor". Sokol has appeared in several Broadway productions including "The Great God Brown", "Don Juan", and "Conversations With My Father". - Auditioned for the role of Rhoda Morgenstern on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" but was deemed "too Jewish" by the producers. Valerie Harper who is not Jewish and was raised in Chicago, won the part.
- Earned strong notices for her one-woman off-Broadway show "Guilt Without Sex," which she also produced. The show ran from 1990-1992. A "Part II" came a couple of years later.
- Began teaching acting and comedy back in 1968, including Sarah Lawrence, Princeton, NYU, Montana State University, The Actors Studio (life-time member)and (most recently, since 2004) Lehman College. Also a distinguished lecturer.
- Made her professional theatre debut in the original national company of "Man of La Mancha" starring José Ferrer.
