Let’s revisit the sequel to the iconic film Saturday Night Fever – Staying Alive. John Travolta once again embodied Tony Manero, waving goodbye to his disco shoes to take the Broadway stage. Travolta was actually inspired by the box office hit Rocky III, and even invited Sylvester Stallone, its director, to helm the project. But hey, the original movie was a huge hit, and Staying Alive? The reviews were dreadful. The critics trashed this film, giving it a miserable 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the soundtrack was an entirely different story. Far From Over by Frank Stallone reached the top ten, and Sylvester Stallone’s cameo, followed by Tony’s hilarious strut, left no one indifferent. Thus, is it a movie disaster one cannot look away from, or just a terrible sequel? You decide! Trailer Source: touchstonefan0348 on YouTube

Yet it is his Rocky franchise that remains the biggest and most influential in popular culture. While the actor is now famous and among the most influential celebrities, back before his fame, he was just a broke guy with an empty pocket.

Who is Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone? Depending on your age, he's Rocky Balboa, John Rambo, Lieutenant Marion "Cobra" Cobretti, Lincoln Hawk, or maybe even The Toymaker in "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over." If you're a diehard film nut, he's the third person ever to be nominated for the Academy Award for writing and acting in the same year, following Charlie Chaplin and Orson Welles. If you're Italian-American, he's a golden God to whom all our fathers pray. And if you're just Ken, he's the definitive measure of American masculinity. For nearly half a century, Sylvester Stallone has been a mainstay of U.S. cinema, and his genuine rags-to-riches underdog tale is one of the most inspirational and aspirational career stories in Hollywood history.
Now, Netflix is releasing a new documentary called "Sly" that chronicles Stallone's career and provides an intimate look at the Renaissance Man behind the multi-million dollar franchises.

While Sylvester Stallone’s latest sequel Expend4bles may have been a letdown for the Italian Stallion, Awfully Good Movies is putting on a headband and spandex for John Travolta in the 1983 Stallone-directed sequel to 1977’s Saturday Night Fever: Staying Alive!
After Stallone and Travolta both shot to stardom in the 70s with their respective Oscar-nominated roles of Philly boxer Rocky Balboa and Brooklyn dancer Tony Manero, the two decided to combine their underdog powers for a Saturday Night Fever sequel where Tony trades in the disco floor for the Broadway stage, with Stallone rewriting and directing in the wake of Rocky III’s phenomenal success and providing a “sly” cameo as himself. And while the follow-up would end up as one of the year’s biggest moneymakers, audiences and critics deemed it to be a campy downgrade from the gritty predecessor, as Tony’s Broadway breakout is threatened by...

Does Netflix have some sort of stealth ownership stake in Planet Hollywood?
Just a couple of months after giving Arnold Schwarzenegger a three-hour puff piece documentary, the streaming giant is set to release Thom Zimny’s feature-length Sly, a documentary in which Sylvester Stallone is exactly as candid and introspective as executive producer Sylvester Stallone wants him to be.
With Schwarzenegger, the documentary had the feeling of a quid pro quo to accompany the former California governor’s series Fubar, but Stallone’s current television series Tulsa King is on a different service and isn’t so much as mentioned in Sly. It doesn’t need to be. It’s not as if, in the big picture, Tulsa King has cemented its place as a key piece of Stallone’s resumé, but it’s just one of many little and not-so-little parts of his career and life that don’t come up in Sly.

A video of the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity was shared by Vatican News to X, where Stallone, 77, is seen shaking Francis’ hand before introducing him to his wife, Jennifer Flavin, and their three daughters — Sophia, 27, Sistine, 25, and Scarlet, 21 — plus his younger brother, Frank Stallone.

Okay, so you're about to read a thousand-odd words about why "Rocky III" features the greatest training montage of all time. But before you continue, just stop right now and listen to this song.
Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed listening to one of the greatest, most iconic, most inspirational rock tracks ever recorded. Look, the entirety of "Rocky III" could be a single, long, and unbroken take of Sylvester Stallone pumping iron in a dimly lit gym, and as long as Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" was playing underneath, it would still be one of the best movies of all time.
Yes, it's true that "Eye of the Tiger," while used multiple times during the movie, does not feature during the training montage. But oh, the training sequence in "Rocky III" is gloriously, wondrously, just as good as that badass song. So come along as we unveil the...

AHS84 isn't the first series to attempt to bring the slasher genre to television. Far from it.
But what American Horror Story Season 9 Episode 1 shows is that instead of trying to best what came before, they're embracing it.
One of the reasons slasher flicks worked so well through the '90s was the limited communication. With a cell phone in everyone's pocket, good, old fashioned killing sprees by crazed lunatics seems a lot more difficult to achieve.
As has been the case in recent years, FX kept a lot about the series under wraps before the premiere. We didn't have an opportunity to see it early, so we were just as anxious as everyone else to see it.
As someone who saw Friday the 13th when it was in theaters, "Camp Redwood" was filled with nostalgia.

Exclusive: Matthew Modine has thrown his hat into the ring as a candidate for president of SAG-AFTRA. Modine, a member of the union’s local and national boards of directors, is running at the top of the Membership First ticket, the self-styled progressive wing of the union that promises more democracy and transparency — which the union’s loyal opposition says is in short supply. He seeks to unseat Gabrielle Carteris, who’s been president of the union since 2016.
“As a current national and local board member of SAG-aftra, it would be my honor to represent all 160,000 members of the union I have proudly been a member of for nearly four decades,” he said in a statement. “It is my privilege to stand up for our legacy in order to safeguard our future. In what universe is it possible that Rocky Balboa is still a thing? Sylvester Stallone launched the iconic boxer back in 1976 with the release of the original Rocky, which went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture of the Year. That film inspired five sequels between 1979 and 2006, and the spin-off film Creed in 2015. Now there's Creed II, which reunites Sly with Michael B. Jordan. Watch the new Creed II trailer below! The first Creed presented the story of Adonis Johnson/Creed (Michael), son of former heavyweight champion Apollo (Carl Weathers), who died in the ring fighting Russian boxer Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren). In response, Rocky flew to Russia where he engaged with and defeated Drago, culminating in Rocky being wrapped in the American flag by newly-converted Russian fans. All in all, it was pretty cartoony, but Creed II is promising to pick up threads from that film and...

CNN host Ana Cabrera gave Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg a bit of a grilling — by CNN’s standards — over the weekend, telling the high school student that many have called him a bully over the boycott he launched against Laura Ingraham. “Some people are calling you a bully,” Cabrera told Hogg before reading a quote from conservative commentator Erick Erickson, who accused the teenager of bullying the Fox News host for not accepting her apology. “What do you say to that?” Cabrera asked Hogg. What’s sad about Frank Stallone and what he said about David Hogg is that at this point Hogg doesn’t have to say anything, he can sit back with a smug look on his face and let his detractors do the work for him. Stallone just managed to join a growing number of people that have attempted to call the teen out and have failed utterly since so many people are now on Hogg’s side when it comes to lobbying for stricter gun control in America. Seriously, Stallone has never been known for being able to keep his mouth stilled, but

If there is a reliable truism that can coexist alongside the American film industry’s dance of death with economically insane budgets that now routinely soar north of $200 million, it is that (most) critics and potential ticket-buyers can be counted on to review bad buzz and publicized woes of dollars and production instead of the actual movie once it finally finds its way to a screen. And it may in fact be true that the drama behind the scenes often outstrips the quality of the wide-screen finished product, though certainly this is not always the case. The reception of big-budget box-office flops like John Carter, The Lone Ranger, Jupiter Ascending and Oliver Stone’s Alexander are but some late examples of our number-crunching obsession with pop culture minutiae and the fascination of a behemoth’s preordained fall. Most who trudged out to see any of these films during their theatrical...

Sylvester Stallone Oscars Red Carpet – courtesy ABC
One of the few shocking moments of the Oscars this year was Sylvester Stallone‘s loss to Mark Rylance for Best Supporting Actor. It was a very specific sort of surprise though, one that comes out of Stallone’s shocking and bizarre wins at The Golden Globes, and the Critics’ Choice Awards.
Frank Stallone went off a bit via Twitter.
“The Academy should be ashamed of themselves,” Frank Stallone wrote on Twitter. It’s as clear as the nose on your face that Sly won. Mark who? It’s total Hollywood bulls—.”
That tweet has since been removed.
What’s actually clear is that you can be too close to things. Stallone won the awards he has on the back of a certain nostalgia that swept through audiences and critics, and is based more on the fact that it was surprising that he was passable in the role,...

Poor Sylvester Stallone. With the Academy seemingly in a redemptive mood as they finally handed Leonardo DiCaprio an Oscar for his performance in The Revenant, it was also assumed that the Rocky creator would pick up the Best Supporting Actor gong for his work in Creed. Things didn’t actually go that way, though, as Bridge Of Spies’ Mark Rylance finished victorious in this category. But while Sylvester Stallone seemed gracious in defeat, his younger brother Frank Stallone erupted in furious anger on social media because of the supposed oversight. A Mexican farmer. A goat-sucking cryptozoological menace. A thousand other reasons to see the phenom known as ChupaCOBRA... if it were only real. Something tells me that a Kickstarter or some other crowd-funding initiative isn't far away.
Is it too early (or too late for that matter) for us to ask for this for Christmas? C'mon, we've been good all year. Well sort of. There was that whole mess concerning circus acrobats, but we kind of fell into that one.
Synopsis:

Yes, Sylvester Stallone is the latest major celebrity to hit the crowdfunding circuit. But it’s not his own project; he just stars in the film. The real man behind the campaign is Sly’s old buddy John Herzfeld. These guys are a pair. They were roommates in college, made a short western film using live ammo, appeared together in Cannonball! and Cobra and finally got to work together again recently on The Expendables (Herzfeld helmed the making of feature included on the DVD and Blu-ray). Now they’re united again with Reach Me, an ensemble drama we’d been tracking the casting of last fall. It turns out one of the main investors backed out during filming and now the post-production financing needs to come from pledges via Kickstarter. Reach Me doesn’t look too bad, and it does have an impressive cast (at least in size and B-level status) consisting of Stallone, Kelsey...

Survival is not an option. Living is not an option. Well, we finally have an exclusive clip from David A. Prior‘s horror movie Night Claws (aka Apex Predator), and I definitely recommend you to check it out. You already had a chance to watch the first trailer & poster for the whole thing, and today it’s time for us to see Bigfoot in some action! As you’re going to see this creature is definitely blood thirsty, vicious and kills without warning and without discrimination…
David A. Prior directed the movie from a script he co-wrote with Fabio Soldani which is set in a small town terrorized by a killer Bigfoot. This creepy creature kills without warning, and is on a rampage near that small town.
This is not your ordinary Bigfoot. This creature is lightning fast, is incredibly strong, and seems to thrive on not just killing but tearing people apart as well.

Mankind is on the menu… Well, the last time I heard something about this movie, the title was Night Claws, and I think that tagline was something like – living is not an option, or whatever. The most important thing for you to know is that this is actually the same movie which comes from director David A. Prior but now has a completely new title – Apex Predator! Today we have a pretty cool trailer and poster for the whole thing, so make sure you check it out!
So, in case you’re not so familiar with this horror movie, I will first inform you that David A. Prior is also responsible for the script, which he co-wrote with Fabio Soldani. It would be easy to dismiss Night Claws as just another low budget Bigfoot movie, but if you’re a lover of b-movies then the pedigree behind this latest piece of Sasquatchploitation makes it a must-see.
