- Legendary photographer and friend of actor James Dean. He took many of Dean's iconic photographers and images.
- He was a photographer for Magnum Photos Cooperative beginning in 1954.
- He was one of ten winners in Life Magazine's Contest for Young Photographers in 1951. He shared honors with Robert Frank, Elliott Erwitt, and Ruth Orkin.
- He apprenticed under photographer, Gjon Mili from 1947 to 1951.
- He is survived by his wife, Susan Richards, of Sarasota, Florida and Bearsville, New York; three children-Rodney Stock, Raymond Stock, and Christina Stock; a grandson; and five great grandchildren.
- Stock was married three times and had three children from those marriages before he married Susan Richards.
