Though some people may be unaware, there’s an awards ceremony held every year to honor the true heroes behind our favorite films: the marketing team. That’s right, the Golden Trailer Awards hand out statues to those who work tirelessly putting together trailers, commercials and posters for hundreds of releases each and every year. And not just in film, but video games and TV, too. It’s an incredibly comprehensive ceremony as well, with awards for a whopping 116 categories. Yes, 116 – though not all of those are given out on stage.
The nominations for the 18th annual edition, set to go down on June 6th at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills, are now in and it seems that Warner Bros. is leading the pack amongst the various studios, scoring an impressive 68 nods in total, 11 of which come from The Lego Batman Movie – the most of any title to be nominated.

One of the best things about movies is the suspension of belief. It could be something along the lines of an intricately choreographed fight scene, cars from the future or hovering skateboards. Whatever it is, you’ve no doubt wanted something you’ve seen in a movie.
While my list is too long to list every little thing, here’s my top 10 things from movies I wish were real.
Transporters (Star Trek)
Now the thought of stepping up onto a pad and having your molecules torn apart then reassembled (hopefully in the right order) seems a bit daunting, I really don’t think there would be any more convenient way to travel. It would really solve my dilemma on figuring out just how I’m going to get over to London sometime soon. The travel industry might not take so kindly to such an easy way to get from one place to another.

I firmly believe that one cannot judge a movie on first viewing. I like to review a movie after watching it a second time, after a week of my first viewing, preferably a month later. So may be I should not write this review an hour after seeing Avatar. A second viewing shows me things that I might have missed the first time. I like to form my opinion after several days, but but But... the initial opinion never changes.
I can watch a movie any number of times, but the first impression is, my dear movie aficionados, Always the best impression. So here it is, the first impression. You know the feeling when watching a really great movie, that awesome realisation that you are watching a masterpiece, the fuzzy feeling in your heart that you will be waching this movie again and again with your kids and grandkids?
Well,...

James Cameron, don’t leave us for this long again.
What’s encompassed in the 161 minutes that the King of the World has crafted shows us a seasoned veteran who knew what he had all along. The feeling called back to something I felt at the 1996 Olympics when I witnessed Michael Jordan and the Dream Team make their way to another gold medal. Jordan effortlessly handled the ball unlike anyone who had played the game before him and ever will, no matter how many Kobe’s or LeBron’s come our way. I couldn’t help but be breathless as I witnessed a legend show why he was a true master of the art.
Simply put; Cameron has done things in Avatar I have never seen before in a film.
Never before have I used that phrase to describe any movie these eyes have ever seen, and maybe it’s...

Spoilers Below – Read At Your Own Want.
Update – Avatar site is now live: http://www.avatarmovie.com
Recap – Um, damn. Damn damn. That’s all that can really be said. What we saw explained why Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) becomes a Navi and basically showed off the world he’s created and some of the action sequences. There was no mech, but there was an Aliens throwback, a fight with a hammerhead looking beast, and Jake becoming “initiated” with the Navi tribe. The Navi’s themselves look ok, but everything else is nothing but flawless. Transformers or any other effects-fest is not winning the Oscar for visuals next year. Bottom line, this is the film you want to see the rest of the year. Period.
4:17 Pm Pst – They’re taking over IMAX 3D and 3D Theaters worldwide on August 21st to see 15 minutes of Avatar for free. Avatar Day indeed.
