Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a strange time for the franchise. The post-"Avengers: Endgame" era saw Kevin Feige and co. trying to shepherd the concept of the multiverse into our collective consciousness while simultaneously introducing a host of new heroes and somewhat reinventing the MCU for a new generation. Much of it worked well, with "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" holding things down on the cinematic front. Meanwhile, "WandaVision" and "Hawkeye" made a good case for the McU's streaming age being a good development — a case that was later ruined by the poorly-reviewed "Secret Invasion."
But for every good entry in Phase 4, there was a "Thor: Love and Thunder" or a "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" to undermine them. Thankfully, Phase 4 will always remain beloved for introducing us to one of the best arguments for the MCU expanding into the world of streaming television: "Loki.

It has been a lucky 13 years since Tom Hiddleston first played Loki, the God of Mischief in the film “Thor.” He returned to the role recently for season two of the TV series “Loki.” This Disney+ show provided a beautiful end (we’ll see) to the character’s epic arc.
The sophomore outing of the series seee Loki trying to save the universe with the help of Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), Mobius (Owen Wilson), and Ouroboros (Ke Huy Quan). Kang (Jonathan Majors) is once again at the center of the trouble. The series is fantastical and is held together by the superb performance of Hiddleston. Once again, this classically trained actor brings Shakespearean authority to the role. He is also able to infuse increasing vulnerability to the former villain, making Loki one of the best characters in MCU history. Critics agree, “Loki” is the Tom Hiddleston show.

At the end of “Loki” Season 1, executive producer Kevin R. Wright asked Sophia Di Martino where she saw her character, Sylvie, going after this. After all, Sylvie had just completed her lifelong goal of killing He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) and freeing the multiverse. The actress casually remarked that Sylvie might go grab a burger. “I definitely learned my lesson: Be careful what you say to producers,” Di Martino tells Gold Derby (watch the exclusive video interview above). “Even if you’re half-joking, they might end up writing it into the second [season].”
And that they did. The mid-credits scene in the Season 2 premiere reveals Sylvie’s location: She’s in a branched timeline in 1982 Oklahoma working at a McDonald’s. While Sylvie can literally definitely grab a burger and more there, the iconic fast food chain is also symbolic of what she’s now seeking: normalcy and sowing the seeds for a new life.

Loki season 2 ended with a somber but noble end for the God of Mischief. As the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer has shown, we have not seen the last of the Tva in the Marvel universe. While that does not necessarily imply a specific return of Loki himself, we may still get more from other characters from the Disney+ series. Recently, it was addressed that Marvel Studios is doing a lot of retooling to reach glory status again. However, their focus seems to have moved from newly established characters like Shang-Chi, but that film’s star, Simu Liu, assures fans that he will make a return.

“Loki” could conjure up a Best Drama Series nomination this year and give Disney and Marvel representation at this year’s Emmys. The second season of “Loki” continues the journey of Tom Hiddleston‘s titular former villain as he attempts to save the multiverse. Loki traverses the multiverse with the help of Owen Wilson‘s Mobius, Ke Huy Quan‘s Ouroboros, Sophia Di Martino‘s Sylvie, and Wunmi Mosaku‘s Hunter B-15. They are hoping to repair the damage caused to the multiverse during the events of the first season, with Kang (Jonathan Majors) again at the center of the trouble.

The second season of Loki successfully delivered an emotionally satisfying conclusion to the series and elevated Tom Hiddleston’s Loki to a selfless heroic character. The addition of Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie contributed to the show’s exploration of Loki and his unexplored traits. The second season ended with Loki becoming the overseer of the various timelines at the end of time.

Sylvie’s character is a bit harsher than Loki’s. She was taken by the Tva as a child and became a kind of Temporal Terrorist by the time she met Loki. Yet, her intentions were good.
She had a big impact on Loki’s growth, inspiring him to take the path he did, seemingly freeing everyone from He Who Remains’ control.
Certainly, many fans feel that ‘Loki’ offers rich thematic material to explore. A potential focus for season 3 could be Sylvie’s journey. It would be intriguing to witness her newfound freedom and purpose, perhaps with a hint of mischief, staying true to her Loki nature.
At the FYC Emmy screening and Q&a in Beverly Hills’ Samuel Goldwyn Theater, Sophia shared insights about ‘Loki’ season 3, admitting she’s just as clueless as the rest of us.

Sylvie’s character has been a bit less pleasant than Loki’s. She was captured as a child by the Tva and eventually grew into a certain kind of Temporal Terrorist by the time she met Loki. Despite that, it was clear that Sylvie had the best of intentions.
Her character played a massive role in Loki’s own character development, and in a way, she, inspired him to take on the path that he did. Seemingly freeing everyone from He Who Remains’ oppressive grasp.
Needless to say, some fans consider that ‘Loki’ has plenty of themes to work with, and one of the potential characters that the possible season 3 could cover would be Sylvie. It would be fascinating to see her living her life, finally free, now with a new purpose, perhaps with some taste of mischief, she is Loki after all.

Loki stars Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino joined Deadline’s Contenders TV event Saturday to discuss set design, character motivations and the potential future of the Disney+ series beyond Season 2.
As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to churn out box office hits, it’s hard to believe that Hiddleston’s star-making turn as the celestial trickster brother to the hammer-wielding god Thor started well over a decade ago.
“I’ve absolutely loved playing Loki; it’s been 15 years, and it is the most magnificent and emotional roller coaster for the twists and turns,” Hiddleston said. “He has so much range and so much complexity, it never feels like [I’m playing] the same thing. Chicago Fire continues to shake up its cast as TV newcomer Michael Bradway (Marked Men) is set to join the NBC drama in a recurring role. As reported by Deadline, Bradway will play charming firefighter Jack Damon and is expected to make his first appearance in episode 10, airing next Wednesday, April 10. While the role is currently in a recurring capacity, Deadline reports he could potentially become a series regular next season. Bradway joins the show amid a series of casting changes. On Friday, March 29, it was reported that Acapulco actress Jocelyn Hudon has joined the cast in a recurring role as a new paramedic. These new hires come after the exits of Chicago Fire regulars Alberto Rosende (Gallo), who only appeared in the first episode of Season 12, and Kara Killmer (Sylvie), who departed on the February 28 episode to start a new life in Portland, Oregon, with her new husband, Jesse Spencer’s Matt Casey.

Marvel Studios has been meticulously expanding the MCU for decades now, and Avengers: Secret Wars is the next big project in the pipeline. Following the conclusion of the Infinity Stones saga in Avengers: Endgame, the studio has also continued to further the stories through a number of TV shows like Loki and Wanda Vision.
One of the biggest storylines that the MCU has been focusing on in this phase is the multiverse. The saga itself is central to this phase, and all the stories have been carefully building up to it for years.
Secret Wars is on its way, and it is already being hailed as the biggest film of this decade. While the film itself might not be out for a few more years, one show might have already spoiled the ending of it. At least a new theory suggests so.

Uh, no.
Who didn't know as soon as Chief Robinson was introduced that she was going to be trouble?
Well, Chicago Fire Season 12 Episode 7 just proved it.
What do all of you do in your lives?
Do you make it your business to tear down any and everything that you don't understand, agree with, or condone, no matter who it affects?
I sure as hell hope not. It's such a miserable place to be, and it's been a guiding light of this series since Chicago Fire Season 1.
Well before we knew this place like the backs of our hands, people had been trying to destroy it. It could be ironic that first responders and rescuers are always under attack, but instead, it's just annoying.
It's natural to revisit storylines on long-running shows, but the number of times people have infiltrated Firehouse 51 to hurry along its demise is alarming.

WME Adaptation Authorities on the IP Frenzy, a Department Shift and What’s In (and Out) in Hollywood
Hilary Zaitz Michael was Sylvie Rabineau’s first hire once her literary agency, Rabineau Wachter Sanford & Gillett, was acquired by WME eight years ago. In the years since, the two, along with partner Jill Holwager Gillett and a department that’s since expanded to 11 agents, have had a front row seat to Hollywood’s intellectual property boom, which only accelerated during the pandemic.
In fact, in the last year alone, their roster has kept them inordinately busy, from Laura Lippman’s Prom Mom and Rebecca Serle’s One Italian Summer being optioned by Universal and Paramount, respectively, to Laura Dave (The Last Thing He Told Me) and Bryan Lee O’Malley (Scott Pilgrim Takes Off) adapting their own material. The breadth of their work also prompted a rebranding of what was formerly the literary packaging department, and now is the literary media one.

The Chicago Fire wedding for Matt Casey and Sylvie Brett finally happened.
It was a family affair, with Firehouse 51 making up many attendants.
The Darden boys were there, Kelly Severide returned to be Casey’s best man, and Brett’s new baby had a front-row seat.
One scene even focused on the son of Joe Cruz, whom he named after their fallen firefighter friend Otis.
The small nod to Otis was nice, as was having Trudy Platt (Mouch’s wife) in attendance to celebrate Brettsey.
Amelia was even there, standing near a fish tank during the wedding. But not every Chicago Fire fan remembered who she was.
Who is Amelia on Chicago Fire?
Amelia is the daughter of Sylvie Brett’s biological mother. Her mother, Julie, died in childbirth. Since then, Brett has tried to be involved in Amelia’s life.
Amelia is Brett’s maternal half-sister. Though there is a considerable age difference,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Chicago Fire Season 12 Episode 6 “Port in the Storm.”] Chicago Fire said goodbye to Kara Killmer and her character, Brett, in style, with her and Casey’s (Jesse Spencer) wedding. First up, however, is telling Casey about the location of their wedding, a fish store—which maid of honor Violet (Hanako Greensmith) promises to make sure is in amazing shape—but as he assures Brett when he finds out, “I don’t care where we get married, Sylvie. As long as it’s you and me there, we’re all good.” But for a moment, it looks like his best man might not make it. Kidd’s (Miranda Rae Mayo) worried when her texts to Severide (Taylor Kinney) go unanswered, and she even lies to Cruz (Joe Minoso) and claims he said his flight was delayed. Kara Killmer will be quick to tell you that playing her Firehouse 51 paramedic character Sylvie Brett has been daunting at times, while she focused on saving the lives of traumatized citizens for 10 years on NBC’s Chicago Fire. But, just as the resilient paramedic never wavered in fighting for a stranger’s life on the show, one could argue that Brett never gave up on the idea of true love, either.
Then, it happened! Across a 10-season arc, viewers watched Brett and firefighter Lieutenant Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) culminate from close friendship to a love story that some would call a fairytale. Sure, there were dips and low points in Sylvie and Matt’s romance, but they seemed to always find their way back to one another.

Brettsey has officially left Chicago. Kara Killmer, who has portrayed Sylvie Brett for 199 episodes on “Chicago Fire” (and dozens of “Chicago Med” and “Chicago P.D” episodes), makes her final appearance on the Feb. 28 episode, marrying Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) and moving to Portland with him.
“It’s bittersweet, but it’s definitely more sweet than bitter,” she tells Variety of the end of Brett’s journey on the NBC procedural. “I’m so happy that Sylvie gets her happy ending, and it’s a great closure for her tenure.”
For Killmer, Brett marrying Casey is the “natural” end for her storyline — especially because Sylvie came to 51 after being left at the altar: “She came to Chicago trying to start fresh and then ends up across the aisle from the love of her life, finally getting everything that she always wanted and have this patchwork family together. It’s such a perfect ending for her.

No matter where they go, Firehouse 51 will always be their home.

We know that no matter who comes and goes at this unique firehouse, their friends will always be waiting with a warm hug when they return.
This long-awaited union will be bittersweet.

Did you ever have an episode of TV that just rubbed you the wrong way?
That's how I felt about Chicago Fire Season 12 Episode 5 when the hour began. It was hard to shake the agitation.
It felt like that was the point of it, too. We could all use a massaging easy chair.
What makes a show like Chicago Fire tick is that if you have that attitude going in, you will probably come away feeling entirely different.
That goes for viewers and anyone who comes in contact with Firehouse 51.
The emergency at the high school with a young basketball player whose heart stopped started the whole shebang. It seemed like it would be just like any other case, except when Sylvie and Violet set to do what they've done many times before, their equipment failed.

This is a week where the Super Bowl takes place (on February 11) and a new series about Christian Dior’s post-World War II fashion movement (“The New Look”) also premieres. The bounty of television keeps giving. Also this week: the streaming premiere of “Bottoms,” the end of “La Brea,” a new documentary about Black astronauts (“The Space Race”) and the return of Jon Stewart to “The Daily Show.” Plus so much more! Sounds like it’ll kind of be a momentous week, huh?
On with the television!

Forget all about Anne Hathaway, Jim Sturgess, Rafe Spall and co. That lot are yesterday’s chip paper. The stars of the 2011 One Day film have been superseded by this new bunch, now bringing David Nicholls’ hit 2009 romance novel to life for a new 14-episodes Netflix series. Adapted by Wild Rose and Three Girls screenwriter Nicole Taylor, One Day is a bittersweet love story set across two decades. It’s the story of Emma and Dexter, whose first night together at their university graduation sparks almost two decades of will-they-won’t-they romance.

As I queued up the first episode of Netflix’s “One Day,” I was reminded of the words of a great man: “I am ready to get hurt again.”
“One Day” of course shares its title and source material with David Nicholls’ 2009 novel and Lone Scherfig’s 2011 film — but in Nicole Taylor’s episodic version (executive produced by Nicholls) starring Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall, the story finds its wings, telling the story of Emma (Mod) and Dexter (Woodall) over decades with a snapshot of just one day in the year.
The episodic structure lends itself beautifully to Nicholls’ premise, letting each year breathe and allowing viewers to settle into Emma and Dex’s shifting dynamics — and by extension, the wider world of nebulous relationships. There is the night they (almost) slept together, the day they miss each other’s calls, the trip to Europe (with one bed), the catastrophic...

“Series Mania is mine!” shouts Logan Roy, in a promo video dropped today that blurs the lines of industry confab and fiction.
The Succession patriarch makes a short comedy cameo in a social media trailer video for France’s Series Mania, which runs between March 15-22 in Lille, France.
“Paris is so overrated. Lille is the new Paris,” says a voiceover as the video begins, before the words ‘Emily in Lille’ overlay the screen.
A surreal comic sketch follows, with an apologetic Series Mania boss Laurence Herszberg rushing into a posh office room in character as Emily from Emily in Paris, which has run on Netflix for three seasons so far and stars Lilly Collins as an aspiring marketing executive who moves to Paris to provide an American perspective to a French agency.
The promo sees ‘Emily’ bring an oat milk cappuccino for one of the Netflix show’s stars,...
