Exclusive: Wme’s TV lit agent and partner Matt Solo is transitioning to management and has joined 3 Arts Entertainment. He is one of the first big-name Wme agents to land a new job following the recent cuts at Wme.
With dozens of senior agents in play, top management companies like 3 Arts have been approached by a number of Wme-ers looking to go into management over the past several weeks. 3 Arts traditionally has been very selective about bringing agents as managers, which requires a different skillset. Over the past 25+ years, only 1-2 former agents have joined the management-production company.
I hear 3 Arts partners felt that Solo would be a rare good fit because of the manager-like way he operated as an agent, being hands-on with a select list of clients. Additionally, Solo’s primary focus and expertise is in the hourlong area. While known for its signature comedy business, 3 Arts...

For someone who opened her Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy speech by proclaiming “I’m not funny!,” former Sopranos and Nurse Jackie star Edie Falco did a fine job providing comic relief Sunday during the TCA panel for her new CBS drama series Tommy, in which she plays Abigail “Tommy” Thomas, the first female chief of police for the Lapd. (Watch a new trailer above).
She quickly corrected a critic who asked how it feels being a New Yorker working in Los Angeles, noting that the La-set show actually films in her native New York so she can be close to her kids. Then she lifted the curtain a bit on how the illusion is being created.
“It’s a shout-out to our art department, our scenic department. I started to wonder, after a while, where we were,’ Falco said to laughter. “We had a truck with our palm trees.

“Reverie” has been canceled by NBC after one season, an individual with knowledge of the decision told TheWrap on Tuesday.
The sci-fi drama’s first — and now only — installment premiered in May and wrapped in August after a 10-episode run. “Reverie” averaged a 0.6 rating in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic, making it one of the lowest-rated shows of Summer 2018, tying with “Trial & Error,” “The Last Defense,” “Take Two” and “What Would You Do?” for seventh place on that list.
From Mickey Fisher, the creator of “Extant,” the thriller followed Mara Kint (Sarah Shahi), a former hostage negotiator and expert on human behavior who became a college professor after facing an unimaginable personal tragedy. But when she’s brought in to save ordinary people who have lost themselves in a highly advanced virtual-reality program in which you can literally live your dreams, she finds that in saving others, she may...

NBC wants to hack back into “Sneakers.” The network has bought a script for a proposed series remake of the 1992 feature, which starred Robert Redford as a hacker leading a team of computer security specialists. The original movie cast also included Sidney Poitier, Ben Kingsley and River Phoenix. At the moment, there is no cast attached or episodic order for the NBC series. But the executive producers for the TV version are Walter Parkes and Laurie McDonald; Parkes co-wrote and was one of the producers on the original film. Tom Szentgyorgyi, who has worked on “The Mentalist,” is also on.

There will be a happy ending for The Mentalist. After sitting heavily on the bubble for the first time, in grave danger of cancellation, the veteran drama has gotten a reprieve with an eleventh-hour renewal. CBS does not specify the size of the order but I hear it is likely for a 13-episode seventh and final season. That also would make sense given the enormous (for CBS standards) volume of new dramas that the network is adding with the pickup of six new series: NCIS: New Orleans, CSI: Cyber (likely one for fall one for midseason), Stalker, Scorpion, Madam Secretary and the straight-to-series Battle Creek. Related: CBS Cancels ‘The Crazy Ones’, ‘Friends With Better Lives’, ‘Bad Teacher’, ‘Intelligence’ & ‘Hostages’ The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller is segueing to his new Fox series Gotham, but I hear he will see his baby off, sharing co-showrunner duties with one of his lieutenants, Tom Szentgyorgyi.

It is becoming an annual tradition: after pilots are shot and delivered, there is a scramble to find showrunners. More and more newly picked up series are in a need of a seasoned showrunner every year. Yesterday, NBC picked up four pilots to series. Half of them, dramas Allegiance and State Of Affairs, don’t have a showrunner. Similarly, Fox picked up three pilots to series and ordered 10 more episodes for comedy Mulaney. Of the four also half, drama Empire and comedy Mulaney, have required a showrunner hire. All four were were picked up to series without a showrunner locked in. Mulaney, which was ordered to series with a six-episode order in October, has since tapped veteran Jon Pollack for the job, working with creator-star John Mulaney. I hear Patrick Massett and John Zinman had been approached for Allegiance, written-directed by George Nolfi, Tom Szentgyorgyi is eyed for State Of Affairs...

With filming now underway on the latest season of the hit CBS procedural ‘The Mentalist’, I have decided to take a quick look at a few of the reasons to get excited for the September premiere. I could ramble all day long on just why the show as a whole is great, so I have limited myself to just five (of many) reasons to be excited, most of which are specific or new to the coming season.
Enjoy.
1. Red John Information Is Coming
Red John Is still standing tall as The Mentalist’s central mystery after once again out smarting Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) in the Season 4 finale ‘The Crimson Hat’ (read my review here). The enigma of this serial killer and Patrick Jane’s quest to take him down has always been one of the most compelling plot lines in the shows armoury; it’s certainly the most important.
Enjoy.

As we head into the final stretch of The Mentalist season, one thing is clear: the finale will feature a wedding... or a funeral.
Yes, Grace continues to plan her nuptials to Craig, but star Amanda Righetti tells TV Guide she truly has no idea whether the pair will make it down the aisle or not. Her best guess?
"It's going to end all sorts of wrong."

"I haven't heard Eric's coming back next season, and he hasn't, either," Righetti says. "So when...

At the end of the last episode of The Mentalist, the team faced a Red-John related death. They reveal that the victim’s quote of a William Blake poem that is a favorite of Red John means that there is most definitely a connection between the victim and Red John.
