The official website for the live-action film adaptation of Golden Kamuy , based on Satoru Noda's adventure manga, announced today on January 18 that voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda serves as the film's narrator. Tsuda has voiced Hyakunosuke Ogata in the Golden Kamuy anime series since 2018. The site writes, "At the preview event held the other day, Tsuda's voice could be heard as soon as the film started, then surprise reverberated throughout the venue." "To be honest, I was very hesitant about participating. I had played the role of Hyakunosuke Ogata in the anime version, and I wondered if I would interfere with the worldview of the live-action version by narrating the story. Would I confuse the audience? I thought about many things." Tsuda said. "At the same time, however, I thought that Golden Kamuy has a power and scale that blows away such small things. Yes, this is a work that mixes seriousness and comedy,...

The second part of the trilogy adapting the famous manga and anime (one of the best of all time actually) has recently been released on Netflix, continuing the story from the middle part of the original, focusing on Scar’s arc, one of the most interesting characters in the whole franchise.
As it is soon revealed, Scar is on a mission to kill every State Alchemist, in a desperate effort to exact revenge from the genocide the army committed years ago in Ishval, with his quest eventually revealing another side of the army and particularly of the Fuhrer, which was not evident at all before. At the same time, Edward and Alphonse stumble upon a prince named Lin Yao and his two bodyguards, who are in search of the Philosopher’s Stone, as much as Lan Fan, a kind-hearted girl who is from the same country as the three foreigners.

As the film begins with an action scene filled with visual effects, explosions and war in all its cinematic glory, one would think that this was going to be another war drama about the loss the Japanese suffered in WWII, much like one of Takashi Yamazaki’s previous works, the multi-awarded “The Fighter Pilot”. However, as soon as the second scene depicts a heated argument among the people in charge of the Japanese navy in 1933, regarding the type of the vessel they should build, it becomes evident that the based on Norifusa Mita’s manga film is a whole different kind of movie.

Today more cast members were announced for the upcoming Kanjani8 movie, The Eight Rangers, directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi. Most notably, Becky will play a female detective and Noriyuki Higashiyama will play a villain for the first time in his career.
Kanjani8 is a boy band under Johnny & Associates that made their CD debut in 2004. Partly due to the numeric significance of this year marking their eighth anniversary, a movie version of the sentai parody the group performs at concerts was announced early last month.
Higashiyama will be playing the leader of a terrorist organization called “Dark Crusade”. For his first attempt at playing a villain, he reportedly drew inspiration from Gary Oldman’s character in Luc Besson’s 1994 film Léon while still trying to maintain his own style.
