Feature inspired by the true plan to marry off Louis Xv to King of Spain’s four-year-old daughter.
Films Distribution has acquired world sales on Children Royals, inspired by a plan to marry off France’s Louis Xv to the oldest daughter of the King of Spain, Maria Anna Victoria, who was four-years-old at the time.
It is the latest film by historical writer and director Marc Dugain – best known for An Ordinary Execution and The Curse of Edgar.
The feature is adapted from Chantal Thomas’s work L’échange des princesses about a plan hatched by the Regent of France and the Spanish King in 1721 to marry their heirs, 11-year-old Louis Xv and Maria Anna Victoria, the 4-year-old Spanish infanta. The aim was to secure peace between the two nations.
At the same time, the Regent of France also offered his 12-year-old daughter Mademoiselle de Montpensier’s hand to the Prince of Asturias, the 14-year-old...

We're celebrating Marie Antoinette for a few more days this week. Here's abstew - Editor
The legendary figure of Marie Antoinette has been the subject of gossip and infamy for over 200 years now. Although most scholars agree that all we may think we know about the excessive queen is mostly a misunderstanding. Even the most well-known phrase attributed to her, "Let them eat cake!", has been debunked as never actually been spoken by her. Even in her own time, there were pamphlets spread around France accusing her of infidelities with both men and women. At her trial, she was accused of staging orgies at the Palace of Versailles and even committing incest with her own son. Playing off of these rumors, French director Benoît Jacquot's 2012 film about Marie Antoinette, Farewell, My Queen, based on the novel by Chantal Thomas, invents a lesbian relationship between the Queen and a duchess at court.

Kids say the darnedest things! Isn't that what Bill Cosby taught us back in the 1990s? Well, the legendary comedian was right, obviously, especially when it comes to memorable movie quotes. We wanted to take a look back through the decades at some of the most hilarious, touching, unforgettable lines said by kid characters (most are live-action, but there are a few animated characters too). We even asked some of our friends and readers what their favorites were and came up with this list of 25, but it just as easily could have been 50.
And if you notice we paid extra attention to the '80s and '90s, let's just say that's when many of us were growing up; we're sure younger (and older) readers could come up with an entirely different lineup of quotes. Feel free to share them in the comments!

The first (official) trailer for The Muppets that hit the web last week got a lot of people excited, with most saying that it seemed like a return to form for Jim Henson‘s beloved characters. New pictures have popped up at CinemaBlend, and luckily for those same people, they show off more of the famous… creatures? I’m not really sure what they would be classified as.
They’re just your typical production stills, but I imagine many will be happy to see more of these characters who’ve been absent for a few years. While I have to admit that I’m not the world’s biggest fan of the franchise, I find it hard to look at a picture of Jason Segel brushing his teeth with one of them and not start smiling. The rest of them look good, and it seems like they’re really trying...

Diane Kruger is stepping in to replace Eva Green in Benoît Jacquot’s adaptation of Chantal Thomas’ novel, Farewell, My Queen, reports The Playlist. Kruger joins Léa Seydoux and Gérard Depardieu in the film, and will play Marie Antoinette, with Léa Seydoux as a reader to her royal majesty during the final days of the French Revolution.
The film plans to revolve around this synopsis taken from the book of which it is based. As revolution rages outside the palace walls, inside the court of Versailles–the court of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI–denial reigns before giving way to alarm, which in turn degenerates into panic and chaos. Thomas spins the familiar events of the 1789 French Revolution into a compelling novel, with the central character less the famously ill-fated queen than the insular and ritualized society of the palace. The story is told by a woman looking back 30 years,...

Though we just recently heard that Gemma Arterton was taking the female lead in Michael Mann's period romance Capa, what we didn't mention is that she was taking a role that once belonged to Eva Green. Now it sounds like the Casino Royale actress has been replaced on another project. French film news site Allocine (via The Playlist) reports Diane Kruger is replacing Green as Marie Antoinette in Benoit Jacquot's adaptation of Chantal Thomas' novel Farewell, My Queen. Though she's a big part of the story, this film does not see the young royal leader as the central character, but rather looks at the 1789 French Revolution through the eyes of a royal reader. Lea Seydoux (Robin Hood) plays the reader in question who recalls the historical events 30 years later. Simultaneously an insider and an observer of royal history, she describes the final days before revolution engulfs the palace...

Diane Kruger is stepping in to take Eva Green’s place as the cake-loving Marie Antoinette in Benoit Jacquot’s “Farewell, My Queen.”
The film, set during the final days of the French Revolution, is an adaptation of the Chantal Thomas novel by the same name, Collider reports.
Kruger joins Parisian ingénue Lea Sedoux, who serves as a reader to her royal majesty during the final days of the Revolution, and fan-favorite Gerard Depardieu, whose part remains unknown as of now (but we’re betting he plays a notable figure in the royal family tree).
If you’ve never heard of the director Jacquot, not to worry, you’re in good company. Though he has earned accolades at both the Cannes and Venice film festivals, he’s still not well known this side of the Atlantic.
But Kruger is.
And because of that, she inarguably brings some Hollywood box-office power...

Eva Green has officially dropped out of Benoit Jacquot’s Marie Antoinette biopic Farewell, My Queen. But fear not, an equally gorgeous European has stepped in to take her place, with Diane Kruger set to don a powdered wig and giant, frilly frock as the young queen. We imagine. Set towards the end of the French Revolution, the film is an adaptation of Chantal Thomas’ novel. It should be interested to see what Jacquot, who directed School Of Flesh and The Untouchable, will do with the material. Kruger joins Gerard Depardieu in the...

Where did Eva Green go? It was only in 2006 that the beautiful young actress landed the prestigious role as the Bond girl in Martin Campbell's Casino Royale, but has only made two movies in the last two years and neither has received any play (Cracks, which Green made in 2009, will be released next March and Womb has yet to schedule a release date, though has played at various international film festivals). Sadly, this article won't make Green fans very happy. Eva Green, Lea Seydoux and Gerard Depardieu are all set to star in the upcoming Marie Antoinette project "Farewell, My Queen" reports Bleeding Cool.
Based on the Chantal Thomas novel, Seydoux plays one of the royal readers within the insular society of the court of Marie Antoinette (Green) and Louis XVI. As the final days of the French Revolution ultimately engulf the palace, the story is a darkly humorous look into the social graces and behaviours within the various classes of those who occupy it.
Depardieu’s part has yet to be specified, though the decapitated head of her husband Louis XVI apparently serves a role in the story. Benoit Jacquot ("Deep In The Woods") directs.
