Hit the famous "Shot Heard 'Round The World" - the ninth inning
three-run home run in the Polo Grounds' left field bleachers which
allowed the New York Giants to rally and defeat the Brooklyn Dodgers in
the 1951 National League playoff series.
Was selected to the National League All-Star team three times (1948,
1949 and 1952).
Made major league debut on 9 September 1946.
In 1952 led the National League in triples with 14.
