Yorkshire (England), Nov 2 (Ians) Yorkshire County Cricket Club (Yccc) on Wednesday announced the appointment of Stephen Vaughan as their new chief executive, while former England fast bowler Darren Gough will stay as the managing director of cricket on a permanent basis.
Vaughan’s role will officially begin on November 7, almost exactly a year on from the resignation of his predecessor, Mark Arthur, who stood down at the height of the club’s racism scandal, prior to Azeem Rafiq’s explosive testimony at the Dcms parliamentary hearing at which he had also been due to give evidence.
In his three-year stint at Wasps, Vaughan went from CEO of sports business in August 2019 to becoming Group Chief Executive in 2020, but in October he was one of 167 players, coaches and staff made redundant following the collapse of the parent company, Wasps Holdings Ltd. Blade Runner 2049, director Denis Villeneuve’s sequel to Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, is a visual feast, a cinematic banquet that is much in the style and spirit of the original. For that reason alone, it deserves to be seen on the biggest screen, with the best sound, you can find. This is a film worth the effort to see it as it should be seen, but particularly if you are one of the many fans of the first film.
Fans of the original Blade Runner need not fear this sequel. As one of many filmmakers who were smitten with and influenced by Ridley Scott’s ground-breaking film, French Canadian director...

Disney's animated "Frozen" film recently broke the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, which means that lots of kids and their parents went out to see the movie. And according to pastor and Generations Radio host Kevin Swanson, that's the problem, because the movie converted all of those kids to gay. He explained: "How many children are taken into these things and how many Christians are taking their kids off to see the movie 'Frozen,' produced by [Disney], an organization that is probably one of the most pro-homosexual organizations in the country? You wonder sometimes, I'm not a tinfoil hat conspiratorialist, but you wonder sometimes if maybe there's something very evil happening here. If I was the Devil, what would I do to really foul up an entire social system and do something really, really, really evil to 5 and 6 and 7-year-olds in Christian families around America?" Swanson's co-host Steve Vaughn agreed,...

They've never actually seen Frozen, but Generations Radio co-hosts Kevin Swanson and Steve Vaughn are concerned about the Disney flick that's grossed $1 billion worldwide since its release in November 2013. They argued that animated musical—featuring the voice talents of Kristen Bell, Santino Fontana, Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff and Indina Menzel—indoctrinates homosexuality and bestiality. "Friends, this is evil, just evil," ranted Swanson, who is a pastor. In the Oscar-winning movie, Anna (Bell) journeys to find her sister Elsa (Menzel), who possesses the ability to create snow and ice. By the end, the princesses realize true love isn't limited to the opposite sex—it can also exist between...

Chicago – In this new film, don’t describe the 16th U.S. President as “The Great Emancipator,” call him “The Great Kick-Ass-ipator.” In this high concept romp, the President who presided over the Civil War is now winning it single-handedly by fighting his demons in “Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter.”
Rating: 2.5/5.0
This is a truly bizarre re-imagining of history, especially if you hadn’t read the source novel. The legacy of Abraham Lincoln is co-opted into a horror film, which presupposes that the United States will be overrun by vampires – and they all have super strength, the usual blood lust and immortality – unless they can be stopped by expert vampire killers, which includes Lincoln. This is comic book territory, and that element has its moments, especially in the Civil War parts, but overall the mix of vampires and history – especially the tragic struggle on the slavery issue – ultimately is unsavory.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter explores the secret life of our 16th president, and the untold story that shaped our nation. Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (director of .Wanted.) bring a fresh voice to the bloodthirsty lore of the vampire, imagining Lincoln as history’s greatest hunter of the undead.
Abraham Lincoln. Vampire Hunter. The very words evoke a juxtaposition that is unexpected, if not downright bizarre. Yet it.s an idea to which the filmmakers have fully committed. Their work is a portrait of the man and leader we.ve all studied and the seminal events that defined him and our nation . interwoven with the immersive, visceral action of a vampire story.

The Dark Knight The Avengers has surpassed The Dark Knight at the domestic box office, to become the no. 3 biggest hit ever in the Us/Canada. Or has it? Joss Whedon’s The Avengers added $5.65m at the North American box office on Friday, June 1, according to studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo. That raised the action flick’s domestic cume to $538.11m. Directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Christian Bale, The Dark Knight cumed at $533.3m in 2008. But which movie has sold more tickets, The Avengers or The Dark Knight? Looking at both films’ totals, the obvious answer is The Dark Knight, which was shown at fewer IMAX houses, was not in 3D, and was released in 2008. In fact, even while ignoring IMAX and 3D surcharges, The Dark Knight‘s adjusted domestic box-office take — to better reflect the actual number of tickets sold — would be $580m. In other words,...

In the latest featurette from the film, author Seth Grahame-Smith, director Timur Bekmambetov, and producer Tim Burton explain that this “dispenser of justice” is the super hero you’ve never seen before.
Their film has the action, thrills, cutting-edge visual effects and 3D, and monstrous creatures of the undead, you.d expect from a title that includes the words .vampire hunter... The Dark Knight: Batman (Christian Bale) In the follow-up post is the list of top ten opening weekends in North America as found at Box Office Mojo. The list is based on box-office receipts, not ticket sales. In other words, it's not adjusted for inflation nor does it take into account IMAX/3D surcharges — or lower ticket-costs for children in the cases of, say, Chris Miller's Shrek the Third or the Harry Potter movies. Had the list been adjusted for inflation, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight (with approx. $175 million) would be the no. 1 movie, followed by Sam Raimi / Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man 3 ($174 million), Daniel Radcliffe / Ralph Fiennes' Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 ($169 million), Johnny Depp / Orlando Bloom / Keira Knightley's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest ($164 million), and the original Spider-Man (no. 12 on the non-adjusted chart, with approx. $157 million). Cinematographer Wally Pfister, Asc teamed up with writer/ director Chris Nolan and producer Emma Thomas for the sixth time to create this imaginative and breathtaking adventure. Their collaborations began with Memento in 2000 when they were in the dawns of their careers. It was Nolan?s first turn at the helm on a long form feature. He earned an Oscar nomination for the script, and the DGA named him director of the year.
Pfister, Nolan and Thomas encored with “Inception.”
Their next three films, “Batman Begins,” “The Prestige” and “The Dark Knight”, resonated at the box office and with critics. Pfister earned three Oscar nominations in four years for those endeavors.
“Inception” takes it to the next level. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Dom Cobb, a criminal mastermind who invents a way to invade people’s dreams and steal their most valuable secrets.

This is one Terrific Sf film, a motion picture of both action and ideas. And it’s also a surprising one—advance word was “iffy,” the misleading advertising campaign seemed to hijack poster images from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, there wasn’t much of a publicity effort evident to me. Did Disney know how to market this Touchstone Films release? I’m not sure. I found their ads off-putting. Did they think they had a flop? Maybe. Is it a great movie? Yep, I think so. This year (thus far), I have only liked Up and Star Trek more (dreadful sorry, Coraline and Harry Potter And The Half-blood Prince), but then again I should note that I purposely don’t see everything. Life’s too short to spend any of it in Land Of The Lost.

It's a very different movie world that we live in today when a new Bruce Willis movie is fighting for the top spot against the second weekend of an animated pic. But such is the case this frame when the beloved Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs lobbies for the number one place its sophomore session, against the Bruce Willis sci-fi flick Surrogates. Fame is likely to lure in the tween girls and nab the third spot in the derby. Predictions are below. 1. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs: $20 million Audiences loved this movie last weekend and with little else for family moviegoers, more will be back this weekend for some flying 3-D meatballs. A 40% drop would put the film at $18 million but I think parents are going to boost those numbers even higher. It helps that the 3-D experience has been so well-received. 2. Surrogates: $18 million How weird...

Director Jonathan Mostow is no stranger to robots or science fiction, having directed Terminator 3: Rise Of The MacHines (and discussed it in Starlog #313). Now, he goes back to both with his new film, Surrogates.
“I love science fiction, which is why I responded so strongly to Surrogates,” Mostow says of the script based on Robert Venditti & Brett Weldele’s graphic novels.
“In the future, everyone stays home and your robot goes into the world for you,” he explains. “Bruce Willis never leaves his home. He’s paunchy and bald, while his robot surrogate is fit, blond and wears a great suit. The question the movie presents is: What price do we pay for surrendering to that technology?”
