- After owning an electrical company for a decade David was given the opportunity to try working in the film business. Since he is a journeyman electrician it was decided he would be a good generator operator. Beacause of his electrical ticket he was approached to install a temporary power system for Mystery Alaska. That turned out to become a 3mva power system. Since then he has designed and installed power systems for movies such as The Claim and Open Range. Open Range was particularly challenging because of the flood scene. Six 87 hp 600 volt water pumps were used to cause the flood and one 40 hp 480 volt pump was used for the rain. The problem was ground fault protecting these large motors because Robert Duvall and Kevin Costner were going to be standing in the water. No one was electrocuted in the making of this movie.- IMDb Mini Biography By: David Vernerey
